Thank you so much for considering me to join NJHS! It was an honor just to receive the invitation. Over the past three years at Evergreen, I have learned a lot, and have met many wonderful people that I know will stick with me for the long run. As I said before, I have learned a lot, but not only in the classroom. As I walked through the hallways, day after day, I learned a great deal from other people. I have learned so much about leadership, integrity, citizenship, scholarship, and so many other skills that will help me to be successful later in life. At the beginning of sixth grade, I was shy. Middle school was much bigger and much scarier than elementary school. But I found family amongst my peers and this helped me grow as a person as well as a leader. I found a natural place in the choir; I have always loved to sing and it was easy to fit in. No one judged you and about halfway through the year, I was elected to be one of the choir leaders, which is a privilege not often given to sixth graders. I then …show more content…
I had heard the morning announcements for nearly two years now and I always had admired the students who had the guts to put themselves out there. Now I am the Public Relations officer here at Evergreen. This past year, I have had the honor to work with amazing students during Ms. Miller’s leadership class and have learned more than I could have imagined about being a true leader. To be a leader is to set a positive example for others, to know people’s names, to pay appreciate the little things, and to respect those around you. While I fully appreciate the significance of school work and know how important it is to be a well-educated person, that class was probably my most valuable experience over the last three years. It taught me to how to build my character, and to serve and sacrifice everything I have for the wellbeing of
Throughout the years of being a student at Council Rock, I have come to the realization of what a true leader is. A leader is not someone that just plans events, collects money, or shows up to meetings. Rather, this is someone that has a true connection with their peers, and has unmatched passion for what they do. With this, I can confidently say that since seventh grade, as a young adult, I have been shaped into an individual that fits these traits. Since that time, I have been involved in student government,
Chad Miller, manager of Buffalo Wild Wings in Dubuque, excellently showcases leadership characteristics each time I work with him. Throughout my one and a half years working underneath him, I have witnessed many great exchanges of leadership from Chad to customers, employees, and his other managers. He remains professional, shows his passion for the sports within the restaurant, as well as the food and atmosphere, clearly communicates effectively, and has inspired many people to move up within the company. However, another great example of leadership comes from the Director of Student Life, Diversity, and Leadership of Northeast Iowa Community College, Kara Popp. She exudes professionalism, while maintaining a light atmosphere during the time I work with her. Her communication style clearly shows her passion for the school by consistently instilling excitement and enthusiasm into her audiences. As president underneath of Kara, I have transformed into a proper leader. Although my previous leadership experience, as an 18 year old manager at a McDonald’s restaurant, showed my immaturity throughout my tenure, but beca...
It also learned that the past is unforgettable and immutable. It made me realize that we are all capable of becoming our own hero’s, by simply accepting the call to action and transforming ourselves to return as the best version of who we are. While giving us the chance to explore the
It is one thing to have the knowledge of “the practice of mobilizing people to tackle tough challenges and thrive”. What I am persistent to do with that knowledge is what is important. My biggest take away is that I need to get on the balcony. By being on the balcony I can see that is it really the bold guy with the dance moves who starts the party, not the DJ. Silly to me that I never realized that is where I needed to be, that is where people could find me in a real life party. A year from now I hope that is still where I will be, looking for new data and learning more about myself in new circumstances. There will always be more to learn, although every once in a while I will have to intervene in situations that will make me uncomfortable. To carry on improving on the skills I picked up during the course of this class, it will be crucial for me to reevaluate the goals I set for myself. I plan to reset them all and provide myself with a timeline to achieve the goals. KU offers a minor in leadership studies and this classes is the foundation for all of those leadership classes to come. This class will be impossible to forget as I move forward in complete my minor. I will be using what I have learned in this class still three years from, it is kind of
Being nominated for National Junior Honor Society is a highly prestigious honor, and I am very grateful to be a candidate. To be a member of this prestigious organization means so much to me just to be invited to be one of its members. Leadership is a great skill to have. So, by being a member of this group I would be showing leadership. I am also a hard worker and a great role model who always helps others. I am confident in my leadership qualities and want to help the community. I plan to demonstrate leadership, create enthusiasm, and develop character for academic excellence while participating in NJHS. Whenever I set a goal, I am certain to achieve it. With my outstanding personality and traits, I plan to be useful to NJHS and my school.
I was very excited when I heard that I had been invited into National Junior Honors Society. The first time I heard of NJHS, it instantly became a goal of mine. When my older sister left for college I was very sad, so I think that this is a way for me to keep a part of her. I have always been that little girl no one understood, because I’m always very excited to learn and get back to school after summer break. I’m very happy to see that I’ve been invited, but this is why I should be accepted.

Middle school was a amazing experience, for me anyway. I, myself have changed tremendously from the beginning of 6th grade to the end of 8th grade. Not just in appearance either, on the inside as well.
6th grade, and I was saying hello, and now 8th grade has come and it’s gone from introductions to goodbyes as my last days as a middle school student wind down. 8th grade, 8th grade from the opening day to the signing of the yearbooks. This is the year of memories, goodbyes, and regrets. 8th grade and I’m still realizing that there are people in the world that would die to go to a school like this.
It would be an honor to be a member of NJHS. I strongly wish to be inducted considering that not only will I strive to learn new things it will truly be a remarkable experience. this will also be impressive on my college applications, and give me a chance for a better future. I always look forward to learning new things and this seems like the perfect opportunity.
As a seventh grade student, I took a science course because it was required. At first I was scared about how well I would do and if I would get a good grade throughout the year. When the school year started, I met my teacher and he seemed really nice and he turned out to be an awesome teacher. I excelled in my science seven class and overthrew my fear of getting poor grades. My seventh grade year was the year I determined what I wanted to go to college for and that would be life science education. As I moved up the scale throughout high school I became a better student, a better athlete, and a better leader. I had the support of my family, my teachers and my friends. This helped me achieve the major goals I had set out for myself.
As middle school came to an end, I realized I shouldn't be trying to suffocate myself from the community and embrace the need to socialize with others. Now, the beginning of high school at Central Medical Magnet High School was so much better. I started out accepting who I was, who I met, and just living life. I was so nice as a freshmen, and a sophomore. During those school years, I would help others because I can't imagine someone failing a class because I was at fault sometimes for not helping them.
It taught me to not take those I love for granted and it helped me choose what I wanted to do with my life. The fear of almost losing my brother made me realize that I should not be ungrateful towards him and that I should appreciate him more. This event helped me select what I wanted to do with my life. Becoming a nurse became a dream of mine, which was created by this event. After my brother returned from the hospital, he told my family and I about how the nurses treated him nicely and that he liked them a lot.
Even though this program has just begun, I am beginning to appreciate the dedication and willingness to instill the fundamental concepts to effectively lead. The orientation last week was a very insightful and eye-opening experience that allowed me to ultimately understand the amount of invaluable skills that are needed to accomplish a single task. For example, one of the tasks was to uncover the exact path to walk from one side to the other without setting off any hypothetical bombs. In that one task, it was important for everyone to exude patience and the willingness to hear a variety of opinions on the right course of action. The ability for all of us to effectively execute a proper plan and work as a cohesive team was the one of the only
It taught me to encourage others and that positive reinforcement will always work better than punishment. It showed me that being a leader isn’t about being the person with all of the ideas or the most vocal person, but being the person that inspires others to be creative and help share their thoughts and to lead them in the right direction. Like many people, my personal experiences have shaped who I am. As a future educator, I want my students to respect me as a teacher, but understand that I will be there for every one of them, whenever they need me. I will not judge them; I will only encourage them to do their best.
