I want early child education because that’s what I have liked since I was a little girl. ECE is my opportunity to pursue my goals of helping children in their development and knowledge. In my family there is nobody tied to this major. My mother is taking advanced classes to be an early child educator. ECE has been a lifelong dream I don’t tell everybody, because is something I wasn’t sure if I should pursue this major. I don’t know a lot about this major. The things that I know are that being an early child educator helps the children in their physical development, social, emotional, language, and cognitive skills. Language develop is how they communicates with other, such as parents, friends, family, etc. Cognitive skills are how they develop organizing information; solve problems, creativity, imagination and memory. I do know a few people that are in this field. I haven’t taken classes for this major yet, but I hope to do it my next semester in college. I’m not familiar with the educational requirements but I will be soon. My mother is a home daycare provider and since she opened the daycare I have been helping her with the children and now she is doing an accelerated course of ECE. She teaches me what she learns because she is applying to a program that the company TEAM is offering that it has to be with ECE. She wants me to help her with the children so I can have more knowledge of the major. I want to learn everything. I want to be the trigger that helps those children with their development. By giving them knowledge that they didn’t know before and seeing them progress, is truly a rewarding experience. The second reason for choosing the profession is the enjoyment I get in working with the parents to help them recognise the strengths their children have. I also enjoy seeing how happy and satisfied the parents are when they know that they are leaving their kids in good hands and that their kids will be properly tended to.
Many individuals, teachers or not, only do what they are asked or expected to do. However, going above and beyond and being able to have greater influence on a child’s life is my goal. I know I will love my job and in this position, children and families will be going through difficult and not normative life events. It is essential to extend further assistance to make each individual feel important. Being someone who can help families understand and make their lives a little bit easier by providing support and encouraging optimal development, I can hopefully make a meaningful impact on a child and/or family. Elementary School teacher, a professional educator for grades k-5, is a career I wish to pursue because I want to teach children the building blocks of education, love the energy and excitement that younger children give off, and want to be able to help children with special challenges. The initiation of this education system for young children took place in (2010-2011) follow with a new parameter curricular, based on the evidence that shows the importance in children’s social and emotional development. This program focused on the incorporation and collaboration of group educators of early childhood and kindergarten. This last two educators worked together in the classroom to facilitate and provide the adequate atmosphere and proficient learning for young children. I have the greatest love & passion for children! I am a natural born nurturer. I started in the childcare field as a volunteer and after receiving the required training, I was hired as an assistant teacher. My job was to assist in preparing lesson plans, activities, meals, and performing cleaning duties. Over the past 2 years, I have enjoyed the one on one nature of being a nanny.
The information presented during this course has increase my knowledge and experience about my role as an early childhood educator. The resources presented helped me to learn ways to promote healthy development and well-being of all children and how to be an advocate for them. I believe this class enriched my knowledge about infant-toddler care and education to the point that I would most like to express to others its importance. One thing that I would like to share is that infant–toddler care and education is crucial for physical and cognitive development. The caregiver/parent interaction is necessary for the children to keep alive the desire for communication and learning. I would like to express to others that we should keep in mind at all times that children are unique individuals that deserve care and respect. The caregiver should be a role model from day one, so the child will learn to copy her, and later on impart the same behavior to others. She should interact with the children to develop a relationship that will help the child to express feelings and emotions in a nice way. Also, I would like to express the importance of teamwork. Parents and caregivers need to work together in developing relationships to promote healthy development for children. According to Mary Benson McMullen and Susan Dixon, “ Each family and professional must learn to work and make decisions together to support the child’s healthy development and to ensure the family’s well-being” (McMullen & Dixon, 2006). Dr. Seuss wrote, “You’re off to great places. Today is your day. Your mountain is waiting. So get on your Way”. The role of the early childhood educator, while rewarding, can sometimes feel as is you are climbing a mountain. Educators have to consider how to implement curriculum, instruction, management, and technology in the classroom. Educators also have to provide an environment where all children feel safe and nurtured. When creating a course of action, educators have to consider their role as well as the role of the student, parent, and community.
Child care is a rewarding and yet demanding career. These demands come from an abundance of sources: consistent changes to rules and regulations, requests from parents, and the forever evolving needs of a child in your care. Not only should these demands help solidify you as a growing early childhood professional, there are also plenty of other demands that can significantly affect your career choice. These include educational levels, levels of hands-on training, personal interests, family obligations, values, abilities, and your individual professional priorities.
This research report presents an analysis of and conclusions drawn from the experiences and perspectives of two educators that work in the early childhood setting. The main objective is to identify key elements and issues in relation to the families, diversity and difference. In particular how an early childhood educator implements, different approaches to honour culture and diversity, and to advocate for social justice in an early childhood settings. As such, it allows an insight into the important role that families and their background plays in the everyday lives of the children and educators within early childhood settings. In today’s ever-changing growing society it is essential for educators to be flexible to the diversity and differences with families of today. Gaining an insight into way that educators view and approach these important elements will enable the readers to understand that diversity and social justice is not only interwoven into today’s education system but also the educators themselves.
How one plans to tackle all of the challenges will help them when making decisions in the future. To many people, early childhood education is unnecessary. I realize that going into this teaching field, I will most likely have to interact with adults who will argue that it is useless. Teaching young children is becoming more complex and the demands placed on educators are increasing. By taking part in continuing education, and integrating current research and practices, educators and administrators will be better able to promote innovation and improvement in both managing, and teaching. Since early childcare educators are keenly aware of the needs of children and are able to see trends in early the child care and development system and their impact on children and families, they have a responsibility to engage in informed advocacy for children (Mevawalla & Hadley, 2012). By getting involved in the public policy-making process, they can help educate the public and build support for early childhood issues that will help improve the lives of children and families. Every choice made during the early development of a child has the potential of affecting the rest of their life. If every parent, educator, or caretaker raised a child with this statement in mind, children would be given the best chance at developing to their fullest potential. Early childhood development has many aspects to it, but the three main developmental areas are physical, cognitive, and socio-emotional. Each developmental stage is just as important as the next and becoming aware of how they work can help parents and caregivers better understand how to raise a child most effectively.
