While researching jobs that interested me, I found that there are a lot of different jobs for each field of work. I knew that I wanted to go into something in the science or math field but I was just unsure what jobs I was actually interested in. I also knew that I wanted to either do something with the outdoors and animals or a job more like an architect or engineer. Honestly I’m just not sure what I want to be. One job that stuck out to me was a wildlife biologist. A wildlife biologist studies the behaviors, reproduction, population, and movement patterns of animals. At first, I thought this would be a great job for me since I love the outdoors and animals. Once I looked into it more and did some research, I realized that this probably isn’t the job for me. As a wildlife biologist you work in offices, labs, and outdoors. …show more content…
The top 75% get payed $62,930 and the lowest 25% get payed $44,970. After I took the test on Nebraska Reality Check, I realized that I need an annual salary of at least $43,630.56. This job would cover my style of living, but I’m just not sure it will pay as much as I would like it to. The job outlook for a wildlife biologist is worse than average, it is expected to only grow 4% from 2014 to 2024. The demand for wildlife biologists is also very low, considering that most funding comes from government agencies. Because of this, the competition for jobs is high and to get a job you need to have lots of schooling and experience. To have a job like this you can work pretty much anywhere. All you need is somewhere remote you can go to observe the wildlife and collect specimens. Although, there are not very many jobs offered in Nebraska. The majority of wildlife biologists jobs are offered along the coastlines, in Alaska and Hawaii, or in the mountains of Colorado. So if I were to get a job as a wildlife biologists I would most likely have to move to the

As young child we are all asked what we would like to be when we grow up. Usually the answer is a firefighter, a policeman, or nurse. When I was a child I changed my mind multiple times. At first I wanted to be Minnie Mouse, then a dancer. Then, about two years ago, I wanted to be a crime scene investigator. I had all my plans worked out. I was going to attend the University of Memphis and major in criminal justice. However, one day about a year ago, my mind totally changed. I decided to go in the complete opposite direction. I decided that I wanted to be a cosmetologist.
It is important to have zoologists around, not only for animals but for humans also. Humans need to have the knowledge about animals to comprehend what goes on in the environmental issues that happens around them everyday.
Wildlife Services predator control uses many methods and some of which are under review for change. Petitions have been made and many letters to the government and the company have been sent. The Ultimate Career Goal: I am extremely passionate about marine and wildlife ecosystems and all their inhabitants and have a desire to work in a career that allows me to work closely within these ecosystems as well as allowing myself to educate those that surround me about the importance of science. My ultimate career goal is to work as a laboratory and field technician for a reputable company or organisation.
When I was little my teachers would ask me “Cora, What do you want to be when you grow up”? In reality, I couldn’t make up my mind on what I wanted to be ‘when I grew up’. When I was around seven, I went from wanting to be a Veterinarian to being an Astronaut, then back to a Veterinarian again. Around age 10, I wanted to be a dentist, even though I hate mouths. Then I wanted to be a Veterinarian again. Junior Year of high school came and when we started to research colleges and careers I heard that Premed programs were so hard to get into, and I wasn’t fooling anyone with my grades. I did some research on Veterinarians and I discovered that the Veterinarians don’t really handle the animals like I thought they did. Then I learned about Veterinary Technicians, they do so much with the animals. I

Whenever asked what my favourite subject is, Biology has been, and will always be, my only answer. It was bewildering to compare my body to a machine working harmoniously. The digestive system, the respiratory system and the circulatory system are coordinating with each other right underneath my skin. Realising that the 'blue lines' visible beneath the flesh of my hands are actually veins carrying deoxygenated blood fueled my desire to know more about how my body functions. To me, it has always been about getting to know my self better.

The research consisted of ongoing monitoring of ecologically and economically important fish species. I realized how important conservation was after studying the detrimental effects the human population and invasive species like lionfish had on reefs and its inhabitants. As an undergraduate, I also completed an internship at the Zoological Wildlife Foundation (ZWF), a small zoo in Miami, Florida. At ZWF I gained experience in husbandry, preparing diets, administering medications, and developing appropriate enclosures for a large collection of species. I also educated the public on exotic species and conservation.
