Keeping my grades consistently high, partaking in many volunteer opportunities, displaying leadership qualities, and being a positive asset to the Johnston Heights community, I believe I am deserving of this award. I greatly appreciate this opportunity of being considered for such a beneficial award, and I will commit myself to effectively take advantage of the opportunity that the award will provide me. By receiving this award, it will push me forward to achieve my career goals and improve my future.
For the majority of elementary school, I was a very rebellious and troublesome child. Those years consisted of being overly loquacious, occupied with fitting in the popular crowd, and being careless in regards to my grades. As a result of this reckless and irresponsible behavior, my mom

I was devastated when I found out about the news, but this change turned out to be highly beneficial. Instead of being highly irresponsible and unbothered by my grades, I realized the importance of education and I recognized that I am highly privileged to be given the opportunity of attaining an education. From there on, I was persistent and tried my very best in school, just to see my mother’s smile of satisfaction and pride. My C’s turned into B’s, and gradually with the assistance of the helpful teachers, I was able to progress to receiving A’s. In highschool, I continued to put in effort and hard work which resulted in me receiving A’s in most of my classes. The grade is not what most mattered to me, what mattered was how much I improved and family’s appreciation for my hard work. All throughout highschool, I have been on the first class honour roll because I want to make my parents proud, as well as ensure a good future for me and my family. I took the knowledge that I gained from my classes, and made sure to
Thank you for considering me for induction into the James Monahan Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society. I have been looking to join this society ever since I heard about it and have been trying my best so I can. I believe that I demonstrate the qualities of service, leadership, and character and would be a great addition to the National Junior Honor Society.
Since my first report card, I have always taken pride in having high grades. It was not until freshman year in high school that I started to receive undesirable grades by my standards. While most students would not mind having my report card, those few letters had deteriorated my emotional state because I felt as if I was no longer part of the intellectuals.
It is a tremendous honor to be considered for membership in the most prestigious Honor Society available at Wapato High School. It is even more grand to be able to work towards enrollment in the Society side by side with such an astoundingly gifted group of young men and women. I am only being considered for potential membership in the National Honors Society because I have demonstrated an exemplary academic attitude, and have proven this through the grades I have attained during the years I have spent in the Wapato School District and the fondness amongst my teachers I have achieved. There are also other characteristics besides good scholarship I must fill for membership in the Society, those being services I have done to benefit others in the community, leadership positions I have held, and an original and interesting demonstration of
When candidates are competing for an award, a job, or an honor, they often use the qualities of their character as evidence as to why they deserve it. I certainly understand and believe in the necessity of qualifications; however, I have also always believed that having a plan of what one will do with a certain honor is an integral part of deserving it. That is why this essay is not about my previous accomplishments. This essay is a declaration of my ideas to serve as a representative of Seton Hill University by making the community, state, and country a better place for all.
During 8th grade, I got called out to the counselor’s office. Entering the counselor’s office, the counselor told me that I was in the honors class. The day I graduated Junior High with honors changed the next 4 years in High school. I promised myself and my mom that I would be graduating High school with honors. For the past 4 years, I have worked so hard to be in the honors program, again. I started to take advanced classes and then I started to take dual credit classes my junior year. If it wasn’t for being in the honors program my 8th grade year, I don’t think I would be as worried about my grades as I am now.
During my early education, meaning elementary school and middle school, I was a very average student. I gave an average amount of effort to my grades, and I received above average results. This did not bother me, until the end of my 8th-grade year. At this point in the year, I was filling out what classes I desired to take the following year, my freshman year. I realized that from this point forward, I had to take my education much more serious, in order to get accepted to whichever college I desired. therefore, when planning my classes, I decided to challenge myself more than I ever have in the past, and take multiple honors courses. I assumed because of my grades, that I had what it took to be an honors-level student, but I was very wrong. One teacher, Mrs. Johnson, made me realize the kind of effort, time and energy needed to be devoted to my education.
I am honored to be recognized as one of the students to be considered for the National Junior Honor Society. I believe that this organization has done great things for the community and I would like to help in doing so. It has been my goal all year to become National Junior Honor Society member, and now I am granted the chance to achieve my yearlong goal.
In all honesty I give the credit for my score to Ms. Rice from the career center at school for having the ACT and college meeting in the spring. Without that meeting that day at school, I would have never put thought into what it takes to be a hard working student and what it takes to achieve an academic goal. I needed to make a change for the better and I did. I am a lot more motivated to do well in school now and have even decided that I want to go to school and major in pre-med and eventually become an anesthesiologist as my first choice, general practitioner as a second choice. I learned that it is never too late to make a change, I know that my late change in academic behavior will hurt my chances to get into a good college, but I now have the drive and the knowledge to get things done and achieve my goal.
I am deeply grateful to be given the opportunity to apply to such an important organization as National Honor Society. To me, it reflects that I have achieved my goal of working as hard as I can to set an example in both my school and community, and I could not be more honored. This organization does great things for any community it touches, and I believe that I can play a part in furthering the impression that is made.
School is about learning academics and perhaps developing a special art or skill. But, if developing athletic abilities isn’t your strong suit, this could be a major setback to your grade. Imagine you had As in all of your classes except gym and as a result, you weren’t on the A honor roll. Student Joshua Davies was put into this exact situation and his mother spoke out on the matter. “It was not exactly a career-threatening setback… but, it was the principle of the matter,” Susan Davies said. Though this doesn’t seem like that big of a deal in the long run, it shows how this grade can negatively affect one’s future. Having a lower grade based off of physical capability can also make a student feel disappointed in themselves and embarrassed that they can’t perform a certain act. One would feel upset because they work so hard in all of their classes, but cannot seem to do well enough in P.E. no matter how hard they
The National Honors Society should accept my application for what I can bring to the organization and pass on to other members. Over my years at Springbrook, I learned a few things here and there about how to excel and be the epitomic poster boy for high school; like those who have given this knowledge to me, I wish to spread to others to continue the long running tradition.
While many students believe that these qualities end after high school, I am committed to continuing the tradition after I graduate. Recipients of the Medallion scholarship should continue to be involved in the community and help others because they want to, not because they have to. I would be honored to receive the Medallion scholarship, if chosen to, and to continue helping others with other scholarship winners who share goals similar to mine. My dedication and persistence to helping others is what makes me stand out and the best candidate for the ASU Alumni Association's Medallion
First off, I would like to say again, thank you for nominating me as a possible recipient for this scholarship. I do not think I have ever been recognized for my academic achievements throughout my entire school career. I never was really focused and determined to learn before like I am now. So just the nomination is an honor, no matter if I receive the scholarship or not. Thank you for the recognition. It truly made my day.
A humanitarian is a person promoting human welfare and social reform. In other words, to be a humanitarian is to care about life and help make a change for the betterment of life in general for the general populace or even a specified group that required the help. "The Humanitarian award was created to recognize outstanding individuals who dedicate their time to fighting indifference, intolerance, and injustice." ~Elie Wiesel Foundation for Humanity. My humanitarian nomination helped and continues to help my family in big ways.
Throughout my twelve years of school and college life, I have maintained extraordinary academic excellence and got multiple scholarships from the government as well as private funds. I have secured merit
