The degree that I have chosen, Human Biology with an emphasis in Biology, will not be an easy task, but I am willing to take it on. I enjoy being challenged so I hope that with my drive and determination I will be able to maintain a GPA above a 3.2 while still feeling like I love the subject. I chose biology because the human body and all the different aspects of it have always intrigued me. I am the type of person that likes to stick to a set plan, so the fact that I had to set up my entire schedule for the next four years seemed daunting at first, but after completing it, I realized that I was a lot more relaxed about signing up for classes next spring and the other semesters to come.
I am currently not enrolled in any science classes and being a science major that did not make any

One club that I have joined is the Pre-physicians assistant club. In this club you meet with other students and talk about different opportunities in the community and they help you with different way to give you a better potential of getting into a PA school. It is also a great resource to get help from different people in the various classes, because the chances are pretty high that they have all taken a few of the classes. I also want to do an exchange program in Germany the summer of 2017. By doing this I will be able to get 9 of the 18 credit hours I need to get in order to minor in the subject while still staying on track of graduating with a human biology degree in 4 years. I am involved in Greek life on campus. My particular sorority, Delta Delta Delta, supports the St. Jude’s foundations and has the opportunity of going to the hospital and visiting the children. That is a helpful way that will get me into the hospitals and seeing the different aspects of the way things run. Being involved in various clubs around campus will do nothing but help we widen my horizons in different
Clubs were a great way for me to expand my interests outside of athletics. I was involved in Key Club and FCA freshman year and I enjoyed meeting new people and making a difference in our community. I was inducted a member of NHS junior year and this was a great way to make service a priority.
When I entered college at LSU, in the fall of 2009, I was undecided in my major. I did this purposefully because I wanted to give myself the opportunity to have one full year to try out a variety of classes and truly allow myself to find my passion. It was during my second semester at LSU that I took KIN 2500, a human anatomy course, and felt the feeling I had been hoping I would fe...
Every year students at an accredited university have a decision to join groups/activities. In many cases a lot of students choose to join either a fraternity or a
The main social advantage that people hear about is the bond of sisterhood and brotherhood. The people in your sorority or fraternity really will become your lifelong friends. As well as meeting people in your organization, you will also meet people in other sororities and fraternities. There are plenty of social events including other Greek organizations, as well as philanthropic events that provide the opportunity to meet people who aren’t involved in Greek
When one first thinks of Greek life or a sorority the only thing that comes to mind is the social aspect. Most people don’t think of sororities as social institutions that envelop their own culture, with mannerisms, languages and customs that are unique to each individual organization. However, these institutions promote a common set of values that enable members to become connected in a way that has a more profound meaning than just social interaction. Greek organizations are good examples of how institutions can affect and be affected by social status and roles within the collegiate community. They are also a prime example of how race, class and gender can affect a social setting in both positive and negative manners.
Greek organizations are debatably the most undervalued and misconceived aspect of college campuses. Most people don’t see the benefits that fraternities and sororities bring to college campuses and their communities. Some see these organizations as large beneficial clubs and others see them as potential problems. Many of the allegations put forth by individuals that discredit the benefits and good deeds done by Greek organizations are weak justifications for their removal from college campuses. Greek organizations provide campus communities with academically responsible students, philanthropic activities and increase community involvement.
My lifetime goal is helping others and I plan to use my career to fulfill it. The classes I’m taking right now and the ones I’m planning to take senior year are classes I believe will influence my decision in my college major/career as well as counting toward my GPA. This will help me get into schools who have medical programs that I’m considering. Also, taking AP classes can help me save money since I can earn college credit. I’m taking all AP classes, and the electives I’m taking have been classes that have helped me consider being in the medical field. I’ve found that over the years, science and math are what I’m doing better in versus history and english. I believe by being in the medical field, I can help others in the best way I can.
The school I visited was Dartmouth College. It is located in Hanover, NH - a very small town, where restaurants and hotels are scarce, but fraternities and sororities are plentiful. A little over fifty percent of the students there are members of the Greek system, and that is how they really get to make friends and turn their college life into a much more joyful experience while residing in that tiny town. When I went to Dartmouth, a friend of mine, which was my guide through the whole voyage, accompanied me. He went to Dartmouth, and graduated from there, and because he was not an exception to the rule, he had also been a part of a fraternity for his whole college experience, and even more, he still is part of that fraternity.
Being in a sorority changed my entire college experience. I now have a group of great lifetime friends continue with through college. I have grown in learned more about myself through the whole process. Being in a sorority has shaped me into the person I am
Greek life in most people’s eyes is considered to be joining a sisterhood or brotherhood such as a sorority or a fraternity. Greek life is an extremely large part in numerous universities. More than half of the students are actually members of a Greek organization. Some may say that Greek life is not for them, but they truly do not know all of the advantages that come from being a member of a Greek organization. Do they realize how several of our nation’s leaders were members of Greek life probably not, since most of them were? One should join Greek life, not only for abundant friendships gained, but because of advantages, for example leadership skills and along with the countless networking
I currently attend Tennessee State University as a freshman. I plan on majoring in Dental Hygiene. I am the first to graduate and attend college in my family so of course everybody has high expectations from me. My mom and dad sacrificed a lot for me to attend school and get a good education and they taught me that without education you really can’t do much with your life. I want to have a good career and a good degree so I can be successful in life. I want to make my parents happy and very proud of the young lady they have raised. My father’s dream has always been for me to major in Dental Hygiene because of how successful I can be. And my dream has always been to make my dad (my inspiration and my role model) happy. When I started off trying to decide my major I had a very hard time because I honestly didn’t know what I wanted to do. I didn’t want to choose a major that I couldn’t really do much with or find a good job with. I asked my dad for help and he told me that this major would fit me perfectly and we looked up more information about it and we looked up the salary for it too and that’s when I knew I had found my major.
In high school I was also involved with many organizations and I feel like this process is going on again now that I am in college. I have joined a few different organizations and not all of them ha...
You’ve heard the advice before “get involved, join a club”, at the University of Montana (UM) we are a very large commuter college, involvement is a good way to develop relationships with other students and to create a sense of community for yourself and others.
In college, I will also be exposed to new clubs and activities. I feel that club and after school activities can make a person more involved and give a person the right qualities to become a leader. Involvement in extra events has provided a balance for rigorous course study. With the pressures that college brings, I will probably want to be involved in many groups.
Greek life is currently on the rise. There are about “380,000 male undergraduates” that belong to a Fraternity(Bruni). This has been a huge increase of over 50% in the last ten years. Greek life is more popular than it's ever been. The idea of joining a brotherhood that will benefit you not only in college but for the rest of your life is very attractive for young students
