Should high schools classes begin later in the day and end later in the day to accommodate students natural sleep clock? Some people may think high school classes should begin later in the day and end later in the day, But me personally I think the high school hours going to sleep early in result of waking up early and leaving school early is fine as it is. I strongly disagree on the fact that high school classes should start late and end late. Personally like really who would want to start school late and leave I know for a fact I don't want to be in school majority of my day. Some Kids that is in high school may have an Occupation that they would need to be able to attend and give 110 percent, Because that was a commitment that they gave there boss But Leaving school late already …show more content…
What about after school activity's ? How would people be able to attend them if their already leave school late that puts stress on teens nowadays having to do to much. We also can't forget a bout homework if the teen already did a lot in school then going home have to do a project, Homework, Study Guide things for that nature only going to Result to that teen going to sleep even later than before and waking even later not making it to school on time which you just made it late. Although, Theirs some teens in high school that doesn't have a job people just like there free time away from everybody just isolate themselves because they know the next day there going to have to do it all over again. But Hey do not get me wrong there's perks on going to school late also. For example Waking up early in the crack of dawn is horrible so starting school late is a plus because it allows the person to sleep longer and come to school ready to learn verse waking up early and coming to school putting you head on the desk not learning anything. I love the waking up early for school. Starting school early is wonderful for me because going to school early knows that your going be leaving
Waking up early at 6:00 A.M in the morning isn’t the funniest thing to do. The times on when school starts should be changed to a later time. Schools should change start times to later there is even factual evidence that this is true. In the article ‘The Teen Who Woke Up Her School’ by Jane Bianchi wrote about a teen named Jilly Dos Santos who put hard work into petitions and powerpoints to show how more sleep can better not only her but other people on school work and sports. People need more sleep to function and get through the day and to be more alert about things around them.Evidence from scientist and from teens show that people work better when they have more energy and got a good night's rest and when students don’t they sometimes start
Despite popular opinion, to be beneficial, schools should continue on their current schedules, and not start later. Starting schools later can have a variety of positive and negative consequences on students. Schools currently are at a time that gives students enough lesson time to learn subjects, but still have time to relax and take part in other activities after school. Also many families depend on the time school starts to have easy transportation to school and work. Starting schools later will take away students time to do activities of their choice such as spend time with their families, socialize with others, and participate in extracurricular activities.
Sleep! That wonderful, blissful void between last night and this morning. Sleep is one of the most basic functions of life. Nearly all creatures must sleep in order to properly carry out tasks; teenagers are no exception. The typical teenager needs an average of nine to ten hours of sleep a night in order for their brains to be capable of working at full capacity. School starts so early that they infringe upon that basic necessity. In order for teens to receive an adequate amount of sleep, it is mandatory to enact later start times for high schools across the country.
Every fall teens wake up all groggy and tired because of school starting early. To stop that schools could start later. Why you say because young, growing teens need sleep. And it is proven what growing teens need at least 8 hours a day, they're not getting it. This is why schools should start later.
How many times has this happened to you; it’s six thirty on a Tuesday morning, your alarm has already gone off twice, your still laying in bed and your bus comes in twenty minutes. This is an everyday occurrence at my house. It is a proven statistic that the average high school student does not get enough sleep. While some experts like Dr. Lee Yanku say “It is not the schools starting time that is the problem as to why students don’t get enough sleep, it is because of facebook, myspace and cell phones” The truth behind it is that we can’t budget sports, homework and extracurricular activities into one day and still get nine hours of sleep. This is hurting student’s academic averages and needs to change. Changing the school time will help boost academic averages among students, and isn’t th...
Starting school later also has a lot of health and academical benefits. Even if the school day starts 30 minutes later, It has proven to show great benefits for teenagers. In the pass Up For Debate: Should School Start Later It says “As a result, students were showing up to school alert and ready to learn and are focused and engaged in lessons.” Some people believe that starting earlier is better because a later start results in a later end to the day. But changing it to a later time will still give kids enough time to sleep and get their work
School Should Begin Later in the Day Many teenage high school students are tired during the school day. distracting them from their studies. That is just one of the many good reasons. that the start time of school should be later in the day. Some people may say that the brain is not fully functional until 9:30 is just a matter of opinion.
In a recent study done by Yucaipa high school, 97% of students believe school should start later. Students should be able to start school at 9:00 a.m. Students should start later because kids will have a better attendance and less tardies. The more sleep students get the more energized they are, as well as having a better mood throughout the day. The majority of the students drive, so the more sleep they have helps decrease the rate of car accidents. Students are late, absent, cranky, and careless this is why school should start later.
We’ve all woken up tired not wanting to go to school, because we didn’t get enough sleep. Of course when I say we, I mean as in teens who go to school, and possibly yourself when at the time in your life. The schedule for school doesn’t fit in very well with our sleep patterns. Sleep experts from the University of Minnesota, have found that later start times made students have a better health measure and over perform better in school (Hoofman 2). Research being done on this topic mostly specifies that bodies don’t agree with the start time, for various reasons. School start times should be pushed back an hour to benefit teens health, and school performance.
According to Jama Network, when a high school in Rhode Island changed the school start time to 8:30 rather than 8:00, there was a 38.3% increase in getting eight or more hours of sleep every night. Grades and attendance were also among the improvements shown in students. Teachers were also showing a better amount of sleep when the schools began a later start time. (Jama Network). These improvements can help shape a student’s future. Without a change in a school’s start time, middle school and high school students tend to have poor sleep patterns and bad grades. Therefore, changing the school start times to an hour later in middle schools and high schools across the world would provide many benefits to students.
The benefits of starting high school at a later time would promote a higher education level with more willing and active students, as well as a more pleasant work environment for the teachers compared to that of an earlier arrival period. The early arrival time of many high schools today is unfortunately becoming the cause of sleep deprivation, health and safety issues, and poor student behavior. Later starts in high school will lead to healthier students who will ultimately receive a better education. Sleep deprivation can immensely affect teenagers’ mental and physical health. According to the National Sleep Foundation, it is necessary teenagers get about nine hours of sleep every night, but fewer than fifteen percent receive eight and a
In the morning I turn my alarm clock off and fall back asleep then I realize I was late for school I believe that middle school should start later. No one wants to wake up at 6:00 in the morning, students will be more awake in school, it will be less stressful for students in the morning. That is three reasons why we should not wake up at 6:00.
Don't you hate waking up early for school in the morning? Most high school students wake up before the sun rises just to become ready for school. Teenage brains do not begin to function that early considering many are tired from staying up late the previous night. The National Sleep Foundation reported that most teens do not retain enough shuteye, one study found that only 15% reported sleeping eight 1/2 hours on school nights. That fact was extremely true for me when I attended high school. I barely was able to wake up, get dressed, and be in school on time since I was so tired. In my opinion school days should start later, precisely in between 9- 10 o'clock. If the school day started later attendance would improve, students will be more prepared, and student's attitudes and grades may improve.
Picture a kid sleeping peacefully In his bed Then the alarm clock goes off and he realizes that he is late he jumps up and sprints down the stairs he has no time to eat he grabs his bag and run out the door. In class he falls asleep in class then the teacher caught him and he gets detention. In detection stares at the window thinking of what he is going to eat when he gets home he is starving he did not eat breakfast and did not have enough time to pack a lunch. What is a main reason why all this happened? Lack of sleep, things like this could be avoided if school would be pushed back an hour or two. So today I have decided to write this blog and go over some facts about sleeping
Starting school late is a bad idea, everybody should have the responsibility to wake up early and show up to school early. As I have showed up to school early everybody should be treated the same and should show up to school early. As my parents taught me that showing up early to meetings, school and other activities is a huge responsibility of my growing up environment and is going to teach me to be responsible with my work at school. Showing up early to school, jobs and other activities is a huge responsibility in my family. When I began working at my job is going to help me on my job's responsibilities and duties.
