I first want to start out with a quote by Cesar Milan who once said “Dogs don’t rationalize. They don’t hold anything against a person. They don’t see the outside of a human but the inside of a human.” Dogs have been around for millions of years. I believe dogs have been put in this earth to help us. I want to tell you a few reasons why dogs make the better pet. Imagine having a long life companion, someone who doesn't argue with you, who listens to you, who does everything you tell them to do. I don’t know about you but that would sound amazing. I believe there are men and women like that in this world but seriously speaking you will probably argue with your partner, you won’t agree all the time, and they probably won’t listen to you sometimes. …show more content…

Honestly speaking why would you even want to have a boyfriend or girlfriend when you can get a dog. Now I have a question for you. Have you ever felt sad? and hopefully your response is yes, because I definitely have and it’s not the greatest feeling in the world but did you know that dogs actually help with sadness, depression, and anxiety. Several studies have examined the effects of dog ownership on people's physical and mental health. Dog ownership produces considerable health benefit and provides social support that encourages dog owners to walk (Cutt et al.2007 ). Pet owners appear to have lower systolic blood pressure and blood cholesterol levels(Anderson et al 1992). Pet owners with serious mental illness living in the community demonstrate higher social community integration(Zimalog and Krupa 2009). Socially excluded participants who performed in the presence of a dog report higher mental well-being compared with socially excluded participants who did not work in the presence of a dog (Nilüfer et al 2012). Although there is evidence suggesting that dog ownership can improve people's physical and mental health, there is little research documenting the psychological and behavioral effects of dog-assisted therapy, especially on elderly patients with dementia, who have dif...
Dogs tend to be more loving and caring than cats are. They love you no matter what whereas cats will scratch you or sometimes bite. Dogs help you stay active better than cats which helps you stay positive and healthy. They need walks and need to go outside to play lots which gets you going on daily walks and get you into that healthy routine. Having a dog starts a great positive conversation starter with new people you meet as they probably have owned one, own one currently, or they just think that they are cute. The topic of cats usually starts a negative conversation since there are not many people who like cats. Cats as a topic can also cause arguing between some people especially if one person is a cat person and one is a dog

Dogs make better pets then cats, because they are nice, loving, protective and playful. Cats on the other hand are mean, lazy, and not so playful with any other animals or humans. When it comes to dogs they do not like to be alone and they like to play with other animals and humans. When a dogs comes to love its owner they begin to make sure that it is safe at all times when the dog is around the human it will protect them. A dog will run and play with you for hours while a cat will just lay around and play with a ball of yarn or sleep. A dog would be a better pet, because they like to be more active then cats.
This has led to the belief that dogs can provide company, affection and support to people who are going through a difficult time or who feel lonely. Dogs have aided humans in tasks such as hunting, livestock herding, and guarding. However, as society moved from small rural communities to increasingly large metropolitan areas, the dog’s role changed. Throughout the years a more specific type of canine has helped improve the quality of human life in many ways. These animals are known as therapy dogs. Therapy dogs have been tremendously helpful; providing physical and psychological stability for students and health patients, assisting federal governments to boost morale, and presently, studies are being done to substitute medication for therapy dogs.
Would you like to live a happy and productive life? Then get pets! I must admit it is hard to believe that domesticated animals can promote mental and physical health, but many studies have shown that they can. On the other hand, you must find a pet that is compatible with you or with your life style. Maintaining good mental health is crucial for living a "normal" life.
Most cases of anxiety or depression can be triggered by specific things. In the article “Stressed out student? Get a dog (or cat, or rabbit)” written by Carli Teproff, a student explains that he was diagnosed with extreme depression after his girlfriend died suddenly. He said that he was getting used to being on his own, but was really struggling with the thought of losing her. Teproff writes, “Depression led to a short stay in the hospital, and after speaking with a therapist, he decided that a pet might help him get back on track” (Teproff 1). Some people are affected by a mental illness. These animals not only help those in need, but they can save lives too. There are disabilities that cause owners to have uncontrollable actions and can be extremely harmful to them and those around
Many people think that pets are too much of a responsibility. But they do not know that it gives you laughter, love, and happiness. They say that cats are easy to take care of and usually cost less but I believe that dogs are easier to take care of and it brings you more joy and happiness in life.
Roger Caras an Animal Welfare Advocate once said “Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole.” Dogs are a man's best friend and they always have been and always will be. Losing a dog can suck and be heart breaking to many dog owners and if they don't find their dog then it really sucks. If you own a dog or just get a new dog it becomes part of you and part of your life. Dogs are an essential part of mankind. They are a man’s best friend, a loyal companion, and a fun and comforting play mate.
“A dog is a man’s best friend” goes much deeper than the phrase might initially imply. Recently many medical journals have begun to identify with the many and varied benefits of pet ownership. Men have always relied upon animals for work, transportation, and survival. As times have changed, man has begun to appreciate a different bond with animals. Gone are the days of animals running free outside around the homestead, for now animals are allowed inside and are considered by many to be an integral part of our daily lives! Medical studies have found that animals have a much greater intelligence level than originally thought. Through proper training and experience, animals are not only household pets, but also are becoming an accepted form of medical treatment.
Owning a Pet Having a pet is a wonderful idea! Pets bring companionship, personality, and gut wrenching humor to households across the world. Having previously owned both a cat and a dog, and currently being without a pet, I began to think about getting a new furry friend. Born a dog lover, and bred into a cat lover, I had the difficult decision of choosing one of the two. When I was twenty-two years old, I answered an advertisement in the paper for free Labrador puppies.
There are many reasons to get a pet. You could choose to get a pet for a companion, or simply to add to your family. People who own pets have been known to lead longer and happier lives than those without them. As we get older, we become less active. The more inactive we become, the higher our risk of death. We therefore need something in our lives to keep us busy so we don’t die prematurely, and a pet is just the thing to do it. This is probably because of the companionship, exercise, and responsibility that they provide. On the other hand, you must find a pet that is compatible with you or with your life style.
