Why Teach?
Everyone has a purpose in life, mine is to teach, becoming a teacher was a decision I made years ago a child. I knew I wanted to help people, I wanted to help children but I had no idea what I should do. I decided first to become a medical assistant I even graduated from it. But I quickly realize that it was not my purpose in life, I dislike the work and I have always felt if you’re not happy doing it then you chose the wrong path. I decided to become a teacher as a child I with my mother worked a daycare I was immediately taken by the children I was helping I was so happy around them. I have been asked that by every family member, why become a teacher? They ask me. For me the answer is not exactly straight to the point. I love working with children, I do have a bad habit of changing my mind, I have felt been a teacher would be the path for me to go. Watching students grow and become successful adults is a rewarding aspect to me, to watch their excitement as children continue to grow as they get older than passing that knowledge to their siblings or to other children is a reward I look forward to.
One teacher that has inspired me was Mrs. Gerry Jones, a teacher who won an award back in 1952 she really seems to be grateful and kind, I would want to be that kind of teacher, “, and a encouragement to teach to the best of my ability” (“Mrs. Gerry Jones,” CTA Journal, (“Mrs. Gerry Jones,” CTA Journal, September 1952, 1952) she is so thankful for the award she was just a begginer as a teacher and worked for four years in Earlychildhood Development the class that I am now. Mrs.Gerry has a very cheerful desposition she found it thrilling that she was nominated and that she was in awarded. I believe back in 1952 being a teacher was very differerent than it is now. She is just like one teacher I had in college she was so happy and inspired me. I have mention I have always loved children teaching them would be a great joy. Another teacher Miss Margaret Perry, was invited to the White House so not only was she awarded teacher of the year in 1955, but she also inspires the president. Miss Perry was a fourth grade teacher which, is the grade that I came her to the U.S I started school at eight years old fourth grade. Miss Perry is related able to her students she always made them feel comfortable and that is something I think about when it comes to bee a teacher, to make my students comfortable and to understand them as sometimes lives at home are not easy. “I personally thank all teachers everywhere for the opportunity to represent them as "Teacher of the Year." The main reason I would like to become a teacher is the love for little kids. I really enjoy being around children. After teaching Sunday School to children up to 8 years of age for over five years, I feel that I can relate to them and connect with them very well. I also feel that students look up to teachers, so they are a very big influence on the children's’ lives. I would love to know that I could make such a big influence on a child’s life. In my opinion teachers have an impact on the life of every student they ever have in class.
Elementary School teacher, a professional educator for grades k-5, is a career I wish to pursue because I want to teach children the building blocks of education, love the energy and excitement that younger children give off, and want to be able to help children with special challenges. I have wanted to be an elementary school teacher for about three years now, I knew I wanted to pursue this occupation because there are many benefits to being an educator, and have always worked with children well. There are many reasons people decide to enter the teaching field. Some enter because they enjoy working with people or children, others because they like being off during the summer months, and still others because of their love for a particular subject. Although all these reasons are valid, I feel my reasons are much simpler. The bottom line is that I love kids and enjoy working with them. My desire to make learning a more positive experience for them has only increased with time.
Now that I have told you what has led me to this decision I would like to tell you exactly why I have chosen to become a teacher. I want to become a teacher not because of the salary nor because I want weekends and holidays off; rather, I want to become a teacher because I truly have a passion for making a difference in others lives. I feel that teaching is perhaps one of the most fulfilling roles in life. Becoming a teacher to me means helping to shape another person by teaching and instructing them.
I want to teach because I want to help my students create the foundation of their lives in mathematics and as individuals. As a future teacher of mathematics, I fear that students are becoming more and more hostile towards math. It bothers me because math is very important to learn conceptually and is a skill that will teach you multiple life skills. Mathematics is a life lesson when taught correctly. It teaches students good work ethic, integrity, humility, and discipline. These are all qualities that will help my students grow as individuals and as learners throughout their entire lives. Through my own experiences, and as enforced by others' opinions in the profession, I have found that teaching is one of the most rewarding careers. Not only are you placed in the position of instructing and guiding children and young adults through the life long learning process, but you are able to give back to the schools and communities which have supported your early education and experiences that opened you up to a bright future. In becoming an educator, I hope to someday share the knowledge and lend the helping, supportive hand that I was once given, allowing students to formulate their own perspectives of the multicultural society and world around them. Teaching is a career I have been interested in pursuing throughout high school, and as my experiences and study in the field expands, I feel that my desire to teach will grow stronger and develop more soundly.
Being a teacher is a noble cause, though it also seems to be the dream of idiots and morons. It is a job where you work constantly and are always told what to teach. You are expected to teach to a standardized test. It is a job path that only the bravest take. The people who claim that those who can’t do teach, know nothing about teaching or how hard it is to teach. Especially high school students who have no desire to learn. Children in their last required chapter in their education. Their young pubescent minds focused more on the opposite sex over their grades. How do you teach such a difficult age group? How do you keep them engaged? Especially with a subject that so many find boring and tedious, English and English literature.
Many people on this earth grow up saying they would like to make a difference in this world. However, half of those people do not feel like putting in the work in order to do so. As an elementary education major, making a difference is one of the main goals. There are many benefits of becoming a teacher, and students benefit as well. In order to have many students successfully graduate from one grade to the next a teacher should be willing to put in as much work that is needed. Elementary school is where children are set up for the rest of their education. It is important to understand how to go into this career field, becoming a teacher has its own benefits, and the children are able to benefit from teachers.

I have not always wanted to be a teacher. I always knew that I wanted to work with children in some way, but I was pretty sure that teaching was not for me. I was well on my way in my junior year of college working toward a biology degree so that I could become a pediatric physician’s assistant. I still cannot explain what happened, but one week I was a biology major, and the next I knew that I have always been meant to teach children. I suppose I just took the longer route to get there than most people do. The two main reasons that I have chosen to become a teacher is that I believe that teaching is extremely personally rewarding in many ways and the fact that I can actively make a difference in someone’s life.
Becoming a teacher has been the ultimate aspiration for myself since the first day I walked into kindergarten. As a very timid student, it was a difficult task transitioning from being with my mother everyday, to being part of a classroom environment full of strangers. However, my kindergarten teacher helped me through this transition smoothly, and adequately. I very quickly learned to love school. Soon after, I knew I would aspire to become a teacher. I would spend countless hours at home with a blackboard, acting as a teacher to my imaginary students throughout my elementary school years.
I am a hard-working, confident and conscientious and have a keen desire to be a primary school teacher. There have been many factors that have inspired me to this career choice. Watching my teachers, both past and present, has inspired me to become a teacher. I have a genuine interest in lifelong learning and as such I have the desire to not only instil knowledge and values to others, but also encourage them to share my passion for learning. Social Justice and leadership roles at school, along with my extra-curricular involvement with Cowra Youth Council, have highlighted my ability to work with and for the benefit of young people. In essence I know that my abilities and aspirations will make me a good teacher.
When I think of becoming a teacher I would like to imagine or hope that I would be “turning the key” for a student of mine to become something great. I have been soul searching for many years now to have a better understanding of what I am suppose to do in my life.
