Introduction: Why I Want To Teach I want to teach because I want to help my students create the foundation of their lives in mathematics and as individuals. As a future teacher of mathematics, I fear that students are becoming more and more hostile towards math. It bothers me because math is very important to learn conceptually and is a skill that will teach you multiple life skills. Mathematics is a life lesson when taught correctly. It teaches students good work ethic, integrity, humility, and discipline. These are all qualities that will help my students grow as individuals and as learners throughout their entire lives. I want to teach my students to love math because it is a skill that will help them grow. I think Rafe Esquith said it …show more content…
I believe teachers should serve as role models and be the center of a classroom. In order to maintain that students stay on task and are all on the same page, the teacher needs to serve as a guide and direct the students. I do not believe that students learn best in a textbook based setting, but that textbooks are important when referencing material. I believe all students learn differently and look for new ideas or ways to teach lessons and concepts, so that my students can learn as effectively as possible. I also believe that a teacher teaches much more than the subject. It is very important for students in my classroom to something other than the subject that I teach. I want them to learn life skills that will help them in more areas and aspects of their life other than education. I believe my students should strive for hard work, dedication, and integrity, and go beyond learning just the content of a …show more content…
“An essentialist philosophy of education puts the teacher front and center as an intellectual and moral role model. Direct instruction is encouraged, but other instructional methods are used if they prove effective. Students are expected to listen and learn as they follow the rules of a classroom” (Philosophical Foundations 276). I believe that the teacher should be the main facilitator in a classroom, but that students should have a say in the classroom. I think it is important that a teacher guides and directs a classroom so that everyone is on the same page, but also gives room for students to be creative and have a
The education system has been changing in recent years and the same problems that existed continue to get worse as years pass. Problems that were seen as minor at first have now grown. How to change the public higher education system has been a major topic of discussion but there has still been no major action taken. We struggle to figure out how much funding is needed for higher education and where it should come from. Our people continue to suffer from an underfunded high cost system. The wealthy minority of people continue to be the only ones accounted for and it is time to change this. We need to adapt to the changes and the costs that continue to rise. It is time to help the struggling middle and lower classes. I believe that the best
Aside from this many people still argue that there is not a gap in education. Education is fair, america is fair. If a boy living Chicago, well below the poverty line, wants an education he can get it!
Today’s society, children are born on different educational levels. Some children can learn things easily and others take a little more time to understand the lesson. In general, people learn things at their own speed and time. The way a person learns is a technique that is suited for him or her. However, this progresses the rapidity and quality of the person learning. There are different learning styles that a person learns of such as, visual, verbal, social, solitary, aural, logical or physical. This is something that is a personal preference the person feels more beneficial to help them learn. In fact, whatever the person chosen learning styles are it guides him or her to learn. Every person has a combination of learning technique. Some
I believe that by nature, people are inquisitive. The curiosity that can stem from and start in the classroom can expand into a love for life long learning. I think the main focus of education should be to encourage and facilitate that advancement of knowledge. While there are many things that an effective teacher must possess, I believe these are the most important: 1. Establishing a rich classroom overflowing with positive, interactive community, 2. Having a predictable environment children can recognize, 3. Incorporating thoughtful and intentional text choices, and 4. a teacher must encourage and model behavior that reinforces and nurtures each child to be the very best they can possibly be.
I know that as I grow and learn as a teacher my theory on education will change and grow with me. I know that the best thing that I can bring to the table when it comes to being a teacher is the willingness to learn along with my students on what works best for us in our classroom, what is important to us when it comes to learning, and to change what needs to be change in order to have a positive learning environment for my student. The most important thing as a teacher I will bring with me into my classroom is the unwavering desire to help to guide, shape, and above all foster a love of learning in my
I encourage teachers who believe education should be teacher-centered to remember that our students are our future and that teaching is a service, just the same as nursing or firefighting. It is our job as effective teachers to keep the focus on who we serve, and that is the students we are trusted with every day.
Education is a very important aspect of our lives. It is our education that makes us who we are and determines what we become. Therefore, education is not something to be taken lightly. As a teacher, my goal will be to provide the best possible education for my students. Every student is unique. I must see students for who they are individually and respect their ideas and opinions. Each student has a different learning style. I must take this into consideration because I want to provide a constructive learning opportunity for every student. I believe that every student has the potential to learn.
Becoming a teacher is something I look forward to because I feel like I would be a great individual to put a positive impact on these kids lives. Some areas I would be able to touch are in the community, athletics, and in the classroom. In the community, I could show them that giving back is highly important because it’ll keep our community rolling with good character. With them being involved with the community, it advances their knowledge about what goes on in the real world. An outcome from this could show what the interests are in the individual or what and how far the person is willing to go to help others. In athletics, I could teach them that at a young age it’s great to stay active in order to keep them busy and possibly making
Being a teacher is a noble cause, though it also seems to be the dream of idiots and morons. It is a job where you work constantly and are always told what to teach. You are expected to teach to a standardized test. It is a job path that only the bravest take. The people who claim that those who can’t do teach, know nothing about teaching or how hard it is to teach. Especially high school students who have no desire to learn. Children in their last required chapter in their education. Their young pubescent minds focused more on the opposite sex over their grades. How do you teach such a difficult age group? How do you keep them engaged? Especially with a subject that so many find boring and tedious, English and English literature.
Many people on this earth grow up saying they would like to make a difference in this world. However, half of those people do not feel like putting in the work in order to do so. As an elementary education major, making a difference is one of the main goals. There are many benefits of becoming a teacher, and students benefit as well. In order to have many students successfully graduate from one grade to the next a teacher should be willing to put in as much work that is needed. Elementary school is where children are set up for the rest of their education. It is important to understand how to go into this career field, becoming a teacher has its own benefits, and the children are able to benefit from teachers.
“I wanted to become a teacher to be able to make a positive difference on the future of children. For me, it is fulfilling challenge, stimulating the next generation to become lifelong learners. I have always been grateful to my mom (who is a retired teacher) for implanting values in me. I feel I should contribute what I have learned and experienced over the years. This way I will be paying back and at the same time can fulfill my desire of enhancing the education system.”
As we reminisce and reflect back either on our childhood or academic career, we tend to have that one teacher who was memorable to us in some way - for their sense of humor, their stellar personality, or perhaps having that charisma and charm no other teacher had to make a difficult subject and it 's concepts fun to learn. While knowledge is power, I firmly believe that it is rather the exchange and distribution of knowledge that is power. When one can educate the masses there is no doubt that together we can accomplish great things. Becoming a teacher would mean the opportunity to be able to witness the shaping and molding of the minds of the future generations and the satisfaction knowing that you have helped your students set themselves onto the right path and provide guidance towards the creation of a better tomorrow. Choosing to become a teacher will allow me not only to educate my students, but also educate myself to be a better teacher throughout my career. I believe it is a function of human nature to want to change the world for the better. In adulthood, I have learned that the improvement of the welfare of the world must begin with
Everyone has a purpose in life, mine is to teach, becoming a teacher was a decision I made years ago a child. I knew I wanted to help people, I wanted to help children but I had no idea what I should do. I decided first to become a medical assistant I even graduated from it. But I quickly realize that it was not my purpose in life, I dislike the work and I have always felt if you’re not happy doing it then you chose the wrong path. I decided to become a teacher as a child I with my mother worked a daycare I was immediately taken by the children I was helping I was so happy around them. That is when I made the decision to become a teacher and help others, as I look at five different teachers I see their inspiration, and why they do
In every school around this country hanging on the walls are posters of great inspiration. They express the significance of what hard work, courage, determination, potential, and rising above and beyond can give a person who has a good education behind them. History books tell of a not so long ago point in time when America had an economy focused on physical labor that produced goods and then turned into a knowledge-centered one geared toward offering services. Looking at American now, one would never be able to guess that for a while education was important. Times changed and it was found that advanced knowledge and creativity was a thing to aspire too. Women fought hard just to be able to have the right to an education. “American politicians and pundits have regularly stressed that education holds the key to the country's future. Everyone seems to agree that good schools are prerequisites for broad economic prosperity, individual social mobility, and a healthy civil society in which informed voters engage in the public issues of the day.” (Mehta)
Education has played an important role in people’s lives and receiving the best education is a right to all humans, but now in days we can see that our education system is in deep distress. This is made evident by the low rate of graduates; that’s why our education system needs to be improved. Many people think that our government is responsible for our bad education system, However, teachers are the real issue even though many teachers are saying they 're doing their best, they’re not. How do we improve our education system? For a start, we need to provide better teaching programs for teachers to improve their skills and make them earn their tenure instead of just giving it to them.
