Recommended: Best philosophy in teaching

# 1 Identify and discuss four dispositions/characteristics you feel an effective teacher MUST possess and provide justification for your thinking using scholarly knowledge from texts, experiences, and classroom discussions. Then, explain which philosophy of education your four chosen dispositions describe. A deep understanding and grounding in the philosophy must be evident in your answer.

I believe that by nature, people are inquisitive. The curiosity that can stem from and start in the classroom can expand into a love for life long learning. I think the main focus of education should be to encourage and facilitate that advancement of knowledge. While there are many things that an effective teacher must possess, I believe these are the most important: 1. Establishing a rich classroom overflowing with positive, interactive community, 2. Having a predictable environment children can recognize, 3. Incorporating thoughtful and intentional text choices, and 4. a teacher must encourage and model behavior that reinforces and nurtures each child to be the very best they can possibly be.

I believe the extent of growth and knowledge each child can possess starts at the beginning with community. When a classroom has respectful, caring, and engaged students, the opportunities for learning can take place constantly. The way a teacher interacts with students models the type of language and behavior they want used in the classroom. When a teacher uses positive responses it helps children interact effectively with others. Using thoughtful and precise language when communicating opens windows for reflection and learning. ...d, having a goal for my students to reach at the end of the week. This will help me and my students work towards knowing what needs to be accomplished.

I will grow professionally by preparing for lessons starting with knowledge of subject matter. I will have a mentor that holds me accountable for including differentiated instruction into my classroom. This means that I may have to have multiple people holding me accountable. I will meet with them once a week about my lessons plans. We will discuss the intentions behind my lessons and provide feedback. I will also read specific literature that talks about strategies used in math classrooms. I will expand my knowledge on research-based instruction by rereading books on children learning arithmetic. Lastly, I will work harder as a growing teacher and commit to routines that enhances the learning of my students.
