What is Business Studies?
Business studies is the study of how businesses are set up, financed,
organised and controlled, how people are employed, managed and paid, how
goods are developed, produced and sold, how goods and services are
priced and how the local, national and international government help or
hinder businesses.
In studying the setting up of a business there are many aspects that
need to be considered. Such as the type of business ownerships which
are suitable for the entrepreneur, where the capital will be coming
from, what goods or services could be considered to sell and where the
business should be located. The extensive amount of research, which is
carried out before the business operates, is also studied.
There are many sources of finance open to the entrepreneur, which also
need to be studied in depth. The business owner has to set the right
price for its goods or services - a price which is of convenience to the
consumer and which is affordable for the owner. This is possible by

An explorer by the name of Wade Davis once said, “Heroes are never perfect, but they’re brave, they’re authentic, they’re courageous, determined, discreet, and they’ve got grit.” Having grit or perseverance is a common attribute of a quest hero as well, who is usually the star in quest novels. Charles Portis’s Mattie Ross from the quest novel True Grit undoubtedly falls under the quest hero category, and her supporting character Rooster Cogburn is clearly the wise old man type, with LaBoeuf fitting in as the assistant, or helper type.
When many think of the times of immigration, they tend to recall the Irish Immigration and with it comes the potato famine of the 1840s' however, they forget that immigrants from the Emerald Isle also poured into America during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The assimilation and immigration of the Irish has been difficult for each group that has passed through the gates of Ellis Island or South Boston. Like every group that came to America, the Irish were looked down upon; yet, in the face of discrimination, political, social and economic oppression, the Irish have been a testament to the American Dream as their influence in the political and business world increases with each generation. The tradition and family upbringings of the Irish culture has served as the bridge to allow the "great race" to both prosper and persevere through the hardest of times. Although Irish immigrants were mixed into and not originally part of American culture, they enriched their new country with their cultural contributions, active participation in politics, and their wealth of influential individuals.
Some issues that surround trust is the members within the group will feel vulnerable. Reason why vulnerability is presented is that members are opening up to a room full of strangers. Members may feel that others may judge them or look down on them when they feel comfortable to open up to the group. There are multiple methods to build trust within a group one is “Exposing yourself” Open yourself to others. Not in a dangerous way where people can take advantage of you, but rather in a way that demonstrates honesty and humility. Your group needs to know that you are just like them. Be willing to admit your own failures. If you put up a wall around yourself, your group will too. Without that trust, the employees would not be able to believe in the leader and/or their style of leading or whether they are fair, ethically and predictable. Employees need to know that the priorities of the both the company and the leader will have the best interest of the employees. Communication is an important part of trust. Employees like to know what is happening with the company and how they may be affected. This also tells a lot about the leader, are they willing to let the staff know what is happening or are they secretive. Organizational trust is also important to the employees and leaders play a role in that as they show what they pay attention to, how they use resources, dealing with issues of a critical nature, and how they hire, promote, and employee dismissal (Joseph & Winston, 2005, p. 08). Studies show that gaining the trust of a group of individuals is critical to become an effective leader. It is the foundation that forms the team. “Developing a leadership style that produces trust is the ultimate root and source of influencing another” (Gaiter, 2013 p. 324). This rings true in any leadership role. Any coach, pastor, or department manager needs to understand that building trust takes time and effective leadership is a time consuming task. Leaders are always being watched by their teams and leaders must always act with integrity and honesty while trying to better the team he or she leads (Gaiter, 2013). Once trust has been built between leadership and their peers, productivity, team cooperation and morale have been shown to increase dramatically.

Henry VIII was also implicitly Machiavellian since he gained respect of Europe by breaking off from the papacy. This created fear amongst European countries as England was ruled all under one ruler. The Council of Trent was outwardly Machiavellian by being prepared for the Protestant Reformation and maintaining its political gain. With rewriting the Church doctrine the Council answered the Protestant’s criticism which led to the Vatican having more power of Europe. Overall, Machiavelli had an important impact to the way government was seen in the 16th and 17th century till today where his concepts apply to the modern day government.
