Every class I am given the usual pre and post questions about the course. Often I just think these questions are annoying. I usually give a very effortless answer and never think too deeply about what I might have actually learned. By the end of the course and in this situation now, summer is close and all I am worried about is going out and having a good time. I am actually glad for once that I have and can be able to say that I did think about what I learned in this class. It made me not only realize what I learned because I thought about it. It implanted and cemented into my mind what I actually thought was important about this course.
I’m not quite sure if was necessarily the courses doing. I believe it had to do with the environment I was in because in a different classroom I do not believe I would have achieved the same amount of knowledge. The sense of community that was in the room was magnificent. I really enjoyed discussing the different short stories everyday in class. The community in which the classroom is held is greatly affected by the instructor and his mood. I can tell that your students from past classes respect you greatly and I can see why. Your knowledge and outlook on your preferred topic to teach is magnificent. After every class I am astonished by how much you and the class spread light on the short stories, novels or poems we have read. Most of the time I read the story and never see the symbolism and different themes but since this class my eyes have really been opened. You allow the students to teach themselves while guiding them along so they do not get off topic. Even when we do get off topic you engage in the conversation but you know when to tie it into our story or get it back on...

...h and by analyzing their relationship I saw that. I completely changed my perspective on what Dexter Greens intentions were and if I agreed with his actions.
I also learned to appreciate poems. Way too often I would read the poems and rush through them and never take a minute to attempt to understand them. I would look for a simple story within the poem and I would never take the time the poem needed to completely understand it. I feel like this changed a lot during the end of the semester because we first started interpreting poems such as “Directive” I had absolutely no clue what it meant. Then towards the end of the semester I could witness my improvement when I read the “Black Snake” and I found meaning in it gradually. I really enjoyed this class because it taught me how to interpret and analyze literature better. It also helped show me my improvement.
How does this relate to how you see yourself as a teacher? I appreciated how the teacher was spontaneous in reading to the children. For example, in the story Otis makes a noise putt puff putted chuff and she asked the students to mimic the noise that Otis made. I think that by being spontaneous and being sensitive to the environment and atmosphere learning will be fun and more memorable for the children.
...out homework, which was a huge stress relief. The class also offered how to write the base foundation of any paper, which is significant to become a great writer as well as to write a flawless paper. Also, the group activities allowed us to get closer with our classmates. However, I feel like some of the activities we did were mediocre and ordinary. But it is hard to tell what experience each student received from their high school. Some knew more than others, and I was just more grateful with the education I obtained from high school. I was also not fond of buying the books for the class, when it was not a necessity for class. We did not put much use into the books, and they were relatively expensive. I do recommend the class, especially to incoming freshman. It is a great foundation for legitimate college writing classes. I enjoyed learning from you Mrs. Penwell.
I left this course with the skills I can take advantage of in the future. Mrs.Cohen had been to college, therefore, she was able to give tips and tricks on how to survive college. If anyone had a concern, she would give them advice to help them. She offered her time after class to anyone who would want to sit down with her and chat about future plans so she could guide them. Mrs.Cohen made me feel she actually cared about each and every one of us. Classmates and I were all provided with college and scholarship information and anything needed to succeed in applying for college. She was willing to lend an ear to any complaints made. She is a large reason to why this class impacted me a great deal. She openly embraced and expressed her true self without being ashamed of it and I loved it. It felt as she could relate and understand the
During my first semester of college, I felt like this course overshadowed all the others. I faced many challenges, gained better habits, and even increased the value of myself as a scholar. Not only did my professor provide her students with the course material she built a confidence inside of us that will allow us to be able to tackle any task, especially pertaining to any written compositions. The things that I have learned from this course could and will be applied to any and everything I do from here on out, whether that writing an essay or even taking a test. Again, the journey was long, but I will be forever grateful for the things that I, and all of my peers have gained from this
This class was far more intense than what I expected but I was able to make it through the semester. I learned a lot from this class that I will carry into the future and use in other classes. All of the revision and feedback I have received during the time in the class helped me in the end. I feel like I am gradually becoming a better writer. I will take everything that I have learned in this class and use it for future reference when writing papers. I overall have enjoyed this class this semester.
My Growth as a Writer Most of us write in some form every day, so you would expect that most of us would be well practiced and pretty good at writing. I read and write all the time; I have taken several college courses and nearly all of them require writing in some form. However, before taking this class, not only was I not a good writer, I knew I wasn’t a good writer. Now I am not saying that I am ready to write my first novel, but I am certainly more confident in turning in my college papers. The content of this course and the style of teaching was incredibly beneficial to me.
Especially with the help of my professor Ms. Piper. I was still having trouble on material on writing, but she helped me by teaching us the writing process, how to revise our drafts, and how to use outlines to help us. She has also taught us ways of breaking down paragraphs in piece of writing to help us understand what we are reading about. I feel with this new approach it opened my eyes on a way to help me excel on my writing, and reading. I am an excellent writer and reader than I was before.
My sixteen week class in English 111. I was really nervous about this class. Because English has never been my strong point. This class has hard, but fun all at the same time. I learn a lot from this class. Meanwhile, the first day of class you handed a paper with a question on it. “The first thing I want to say to you who are students is that you must not think of being here to receive an education; instead, you will do much better to think of being here to claim one.” Even though putting my all in what I have learned, claiming my education with hard work because using the skills of the meal plan, as we write to different audiences and learning to be a Critically thinker as I start becoming a critically-Literate Citizenship.
The first English course I took in college was a basic introduction to writing, during this course we learned how to write a good essay, we learned techniques to improve our writing and we learned how to organize our ideas and put them in a logical manner. We did a lot of discussions and during this class was the first time that I was involve in peer reviewing. My second course I took was with the same professor, Mr. Braun. I believe he was a great educator and he really showed interest in helping their students that’s why when I had the opportunity I choose him to be my professor
However, as I am approaching the end of the quarter, I found that these assignments have helped me significantly in learning how to utilize my years of college to the best of my ability. In addition, coming out of this class I have gained much more knowledge in my career interest as well as learned the proper steps of how to prepare for that career. At the beginning of the quarter we were asked to complete a mind map about why we were going to college. I thought this was a great starting point to see what I needed to complete more research on during the quarter. In week 2, we completed an assignment discussing our note taking skills, study habits, organization, and time management.
When I think about what counts as learning to me, I think about my life. Just being able to live in this world to me is a learning experience, because I feel that my life is full of lessons and I believe that it takes lessons to learn in life. I feel that I have learned to understand learning more and to also understand the value of learning. As I get older I can comprehend subject matters more than I could ever do before. I am learning to be more serious and I find myself not taking life for granted anymore.
The most interesting part was attending the specialties that the students had, such as their health class, early literature class, and counseling. For each of these there was a different teacher. During health I was able to assist, in activities. However while observing part of the lecture, I learned that I didn’t like the classroom management that was being used. During early literature, the students were read a book and then wrote story about the same theme.
Taking a creative writing class was a good way for me to express my thoughts and feelings onto paper, as well as read my other classmates stories. Reading stories created by other people lead me into their mind brain to experience what type of writer they were, it was an overall exquisite class. I believe that every person has a way of expressing who they are through writing stories of their own, fiction is the best way to express your creative imagination. This class that I took for two years helped me become a better writer and helped me understand the types of writers we have.
Pursuing a degree in business has been a lifelong dream. Understanding the concepts, formulas, and processes necessary to be effective and accurate weather it was a personal business or a corporation that offered employment is a goal that has been on the “to do” list for many years. When the opportunity to take this class presented itself, thinking twice about it was not an option. However, prior to taking this class the assumption was made that it was going to be just another math class that was a speed bump on the way to the ultimate goal of achieving the MBA. Six weeks later it has been proven over and over again that the prior assumption was completely wrong.
Over the course of the semester, I have learned a few things about myself. I have learned that I can be independent, I always knew myself as someone who could do mostly everything on their own. This semester really made me realize how independent I could actually be. Not only have I learned how independent I am I have also realized the importance of time management. With not having a strict class schedule it was a lot different than what I was originally used to. After a few weeks, I learned ways that would work best for me, for example writing down that I needed to get done. I learned that I need to focus on what 's ahead of me to accomplish what I want to succeed in, to manage what needs to be done ahead of time to stay caught up.
