What I Learned In My English Composition Course

Once again I have hit another milestone in my academic studies and I can now reflect on what I have learned in the English Composition I class. I believed that I have accomplished a lot in this course. Coming into this course, I had little knowledge on writing a argumentative paper, or did I know how “context” was very vital to the essay structure. I learned a lot as a student but most importantly, I have learned to persist in my endeavors. I had some bumps in the road due to ill health, but that did not stop me from reaching the finish line in this course.
I can recall vividly from one of my journal entries where I challenged myself that by the end of the course I would have been a better writer. I can boastfully say that I now write well than when I first started the course. My writing skills have improved. I always say that writing is harder than mathematics. I have considered writing to be a difficult subject. I have had low self-esteem and put myself down. I …show more content…

My grammar and sentence structure have improve dramatically. But I still got a lot of work to do with my grammar and mechanics. I always pay close attention to the comments and corrections made by the teacher. Each draft that I submitted came back with a lot of useful suggestions to help me write a better paper and also become a better writer. I now realized that I have so much to learn, my grammar, APA or MLA format, punctuation and sentence structures.
Another useful learning experience had to do with the Discussion Board. I spend more time reading comments, suggestions, advises but most importantly, the positive attitude demonstrated by my fellow students. I finds it very fascinating and mind-blowing. I usually read other comments as a way to motivate me. Honestly, this was what kept me going couple with some laughter. I look forward to reading more post in English Composition
