The things that you are passionate about configure the way you think and shape you into the person you are. The elements that have reined my life are my love for reading, my gratification for my family and friends, and my yearning to compose something out of my life. These individuals alone have structured the way I look at life and I am endlessly grateful to have such a magnificent soul. My mom recalls my head always being in a book ever since I was a little girl and still all the time today. Reading gives me a sense of tranquility; it takes away the stress and brings me to another world. I get sucked into the story and become a part of it. Books make me laugh, cry, think, and I have structured my life around them. I feel inspired …show more content…
They give me joy, motivate me, and support me. I believe that having good friends is such a consequential thing and I am so thankful to have such astonishing people in my life. They push me to become better and will always be there to help me grow and expand my mind. I have created so many unforgettable memories with my friends and family and wouldn’t trade them for the world; nothing is more important to me. Something that is constantly on my mind is my future. After high school, I plan on going to university and then medical school; my dream is to become a surgeon. I have always had a fascination in surgery and am itching to finally start my career. I have high hopes and am filled with excitement and restlessness whenever I think about it. My parents left behind everything in Iraq to come to Canada so that my siblings and I could have a better life. People, specifically women, in other countries don’t have the same opportunities to go to school that we have here. I want to make the most of my time getting an education so that I can eventually become a doctor one day and make all the sacrifices they made worth
When you read, especially fiction, you experience a broad sweep of human life. You gain access to the thoughts of others, look at history through another person’s eyes and learn from their mistakes, something that you otherwise would not be able to experience.
People can relate to the book because they can imagine what it is like for the characters, and they get some idea of what the setting is like.
Arp and Johnson are correct, “Literary fiction plunges us, through the author’s imaginative vision and artistic ability, more deeply into the real world, enabling us to understand life’s difficulties and to empathize with others.” To have that ability to understand and share the feelings of another through words on a paper is powerful. You see the truth through many authors’ eyes and make the scenario in your mind only wanting to understand every aspect of what’s going on and what’s going to happen and after you come out in the oddest way with this new visionary on things after just reading something so small.
Have you ever felt you are not significant, or have no purpose? Well you do and theses novels will make you feel significant. Lord of the Flies, and a Separate Peace all make the reader feel important by letting them live a different life in the novel instead of their dull normal life. Why do we read fiction tells just what the title says, why we like fiction. Well we like to read fiction because, as this quote says, “It gives us a release from living our own dull and drab life.” We put ourselves in the story and relate it to our own life and it makes us feel more important.
My friends are very important to me and without them I do not think I would be where I am today. My second real friendship began in the middle of my freshman year of high school. I had been introduced to someone who later became one of my two best friends, Michelle Zabuska, by someone in my Theater class. Some time later, as a result to a major fight caused by a mutual friend of ours, I realized that I had to be careful with whom I trusted. It was Michelle who pointed out a quote from one of our favorite television shows, Felicity, that I realized she was my true friend in every aspect of the word. I started to look at my...
Reading is a complex process that’s difficult to explain linearly. A student’s reading capabilities begin development long before entering the school setting and largely start with exposure (Solley, 2014). The first remnants of what children are able to do in terms of reading are built from their parents and other people and object around them as they’re read to, spoken to, and taken from place to place to see new things (Solley, 2014). As kids are exposed to more and more their noises quickly turn into intentional comprehensible messages and their scribbling begins to take the form of legible text as they attempt to mimic the language(s) they’re exposed to daily.
In Robert Penn Warren’s essay “Why Do We Read Fiction?” he has many reasons why humans are drawn to fiction. But which one is the most important? When we read fictional stories, they always “satisfy our deepest need—the need of feeling our life to be, in itself, significant” (Warren 174-175). Lord of the Flies and A Separate Peace are two very good examples of books that, when we read them, make us feel significant. When people see how darkness takes over mankind, we feel like we would never stoop to that level when put into a situation.
The novels keeps everyone on the edge of their seats waiting to see what will happen next. They are exciting, action packed books, that allow the audience to leave behind the headache of everyday life, even for just a few minutes a day.
My mom is In the military so when I was a child she was never really around. I was raised as a daddy's girl. Which in return meant that I was a tomboy, and I mean full blown, only wearing basketball shorts and baggy stained t-shirts every day. My life revolved around basketball and my dad, that was it. Reading was not a part of my life, I thought It was incredibly boring
The mere mentions of stories take me back to my childhood days. It was absolutely impossible to sleep at night without my regular dose of story from my mother. It reminds me of those endless summer vacations where it was possible to go on adventurous voyages with my cousins merely by joining two chairs and imagining it to be a ship. How every free period in the school was invariably spent in listening to the stories of new shows and movies from your best friend? Even today, stories continue their captivation. They have the power to pull you in their exciting world. And you don’t mind getting lost once, twice or innumerable times in that fantasy land.
The lessons I have learned in my life from both my parents and life experiences have fully prepared me to excel in college. Being a part of honors classes and taking multiple advanced placement classes I believe I am very ready for the workload to come ahead. After college I hope to fulfill not only my dream, but also my parent’s dream, of seeing myself become a successful dentist or doctor so I could accomplish all of my other life goals. I hope to be able to build a life and future for myself in
The reading passage describes three ways or explanations for why Guld Sturgeon junmps are often proposed and the lecturer in her lecture clearly explains as to how the reading passage is just wrong and is totally based on some pointless notions. First explanation in the reading passage is that sturgeon jumps to feed themselves to which lecturer replies by saying that when sturgeo are in Florida during summertime they do not at all as a matter of fact sturgeons are bottom feeders means they eat from the bottom floor of the ocean not from the surface. Further, reading passage explains that sturgeons are trying to remove parasiles on their scales while they jump and hits the water with the force on thier sides. To the same, lecturer denies the
There are many valuable things in life like family, sports, school but what about friendship? To live life without friendship is something no one should ever go through. Friendship is a necessity to living a successful life. Friendship occurs when someone is a supporter, gives assistance, and is attached to someone all the while genuinely taking care of them when they are hurt (The definition of friend, 1995-2002). A good and healthy friendship can be defined fro individuals as when someone has his or her own support system, a friend being loyal, and will always have genuine and mutual trust.
Friendships are one of the most important things you can get out of life. It’s something that everyone has to have because without it we would all go insane. Just think if no one talked to each other and we never made friends, this world would be a ticking time bomb. Studies say human need friendships and love to survive. So friendship is a big part of your life.
Good friends are wonderful. They're there to support you and to help you. They make you laugh and feel good. I'm lucky, I have three very good friends. Sure, I have lots of other friends. But these three people, I would take a bullet for.
