“ I opened the first Wendys restaurant because I felt that there should be a place where fresh hamburgers are made just the way the customer wants it.” That is as true today as it was thirty one years ago when Dave Thomas first spoke those words. People put their trust into Wendys everytime that they eat there. Infact Wendys is the only fast food place that offers the Frosty (Wendys Web Page).
November 15th 1969, in Columbus, Ohio, was a very phantasmagoric day in Dave’s life. He opened his very first restaurant naming it after his little baby girl, Wendy. He expected nothing more from his little family owned restaurant, but Dave decided to approach fast food in a different angel. On November 21st 1970 he broke new grounds by opening a new feature, the pick up window. Now he could do twice as much business at the same time. This idea expanded to all of the quick service industries. Over the next thirty ones years, Dave opened up over five thousand Wendys Restaurants, not only in the United States but in twenty-seven other countries around the world. With competition rising among other fast food places, such as McDonalds, Burger King, and Arbys. Promotion would be one of his great ideas (Wendys Web Page).

Soon after many other fast food places tried the same promotion ideas and were also very successful (Pook, Cory).
Wendys features two main products, the chili and the Frosty. The Frosty is a cool creamy dairy desert that will also quench and thirst. Although is thicker than a milk shakes it isn’t quick as thick as Ice cream. In comparison to the other dairy deserts that the other fast food places sell, Wendys has the least fattening deserts of them all. The Frosty at Wendys has 330 calories in a twenty oz.
Tracy K. Smith’s collection of poems in Life on Mars is a spectacular work that explores deaths and its effect on family life and the way a person in mourning shift their view of the present and the past. In four sections the pieces are able to see the same concepts in ways that range from realistic and personal to a fantastical and withdrawn. All the pieces work together, asking questions that others answer and providing the reader with a sense of completion upon finishing. Especially in the darker poems Tracy K. Smith provides a clear voice that evokes amazing presence with a conservation of language.
There is nothing better than an amazing homemade hamburger from In-n-Out. Opened in 1948 by Harry and Esther Snyder, In-n-Out is a hamburger restaurant that at was established in Baldwin Park, California. Harry and Esther opened the hamburger shop saying that they wanted to have: “the freshest, highest quality food you can buy...friendly service in sparking clean environment”(“The History of In-n-Out”). It is said that In-n-Out was the first drive-thru experience for customers to have. After two years of serving people in their opinion the freshest food people could get from fast food the opened the second restaurant(“The History of In-n-Out”).After 28 years of being open, Harry Snyder died of lung cancer leaving his company to his, at the time, 24 year-old son Rich. Rich worked at the restaurant his whole live and refused to change anything his parents had established:”There is money to be made by doing those things, but you lose something and I don't want to lose what I was raised with all my live”(“The History of In-n-Out”). Many talks to a family member, sleep or allow themselves to be sad to relieve the pain. When Tracy K. Smith’s (U.S. poet laureate) father passed, she believed that therapy would help heal her heartache. Years after Smith’s therapy sessions, she wrote “Savior Machine.” She clarifies at a common read at Southeastern Louisiana University, that it is “a poem about feeling freed to look at my life in a clear-eyed way” (Smith). Pret is proving to the world its a big threat in the sandwich industry. Subway, one of the present leaders in the fast food industry was set up in 1965 in Bridgeport, Connecticut by Fred DeLuca. A family friend of him suggested this idea to help him pay for his education to fulfill his dream of becoming a doctor. Dr. Peter Buck, one of Fred’s friends agreed to be his partner with a loan of $1,000. There was a huge growth in the business relationship that changed the landscape of the fast food industry.
From a study completed by Chicago-based Research International USA completed a study called “Fast Food Nation 2008. The panel consisted of 1,000 respondents of ages 16-65 who provided their inputs with an online survey which was conducted between March 13 through 2008. Which was based on results on fast food restaurants like McDonald’s, Burger King, and Wendy’s are gaining popularity even through the economic hardship and recession. Marketing strategy has become more of influence on kids and young American’s. As population grows and the demand increases of fast food restaurants are expanding their stores to capturing more consumers. Fast food chains are also willing to change their menus to continue to gain and retain repeating customers. With each generation that passes, brings fast food chains into more homes and continues impacting lives.

The history of American fast food started in 1912, when the company Horn & Hardart opened the first diner of fast food under the name "Automatic" in New York. This way of eating has become wildly popular and revolutionized the field of nutrition. Fast food as an industry emerged in the 1920s in America. A pioneer in this field was the company “White Castle”, which opened in 1921 in Kansas. Specialty of this company was the burgers, which at that time Americans were a rarity. Potential buyers were especially happy with stable price for food. Despite the Great Depression, the Second World War and inflation the company until 1946 sold their hamburgers for five cents. When some visitors began to think about how harmful such foods can be, the owner of a network, Billy Ingram, invented a clever move. He hired several young people who for a small fee daily came in White castle in white coats, and they ordered hamburgers. Visitors mistook them for doctors and calmed down. If even doctors eat hamburgers, it means that it is really safe for health.
It has been noticed throughout the running of McDonald’s that they tend to market to the eyes of children with Ronald McDonald as their notorious “spokesclown” that is recognized by 96% of American children. Also, in 1998, McDonald’s signed a long-term deal with the Walt Disney Company to include Disney merchandise as giveaways in its Happy Meals.
This particular case is about the implementation of the popular fast-food chain, Burger King, into the Japanese market. Despite its’ strong market position in other countries, Burger King has some difficulties to face within the Japanese market. Through the use of poetic devices such as an elegy, hyperboles, imagery, metaphors, and alliterations as well as end-rhyme, Auden has created a powerful poem that accurately depicts the emotions a person will often feel when the love of their live has passed away.
