Weight lifting is a popular trend that is only growing in today’s society. Thousands of humans worldwide participate in weights workouts for multiple purposes. There are many beliefs on whether weights workouts are beneficial or not. The benefits of weight lifting are too overwhelming to be denied. One effect of strength of condition is the multiple health benefits that weightlifters see. Weight lifting reduces ones chances of osteoporosis. As humans grow old, naturally the body loses muscle and bone mass. The loss of bone mass can lead to being diagnosed with osteoporosis which is when bones weaken and the chances of broken bones are increased. Lifting weights causes not only muscle to adapt to weightlifting by becoming stronger, but also …show more content…
Many lifters lift multiple times a week and are very fit and healthy. According to the National Institutes of Health, men who lift for 150 minutes per week had a 34 percent lower risk of diabetes (Braverman). Another effect of weight lifting is that it improves quality of life. Lifting causes the body to become more muscular and look fit as a whole. Not only will lifters become healthier, they will also feel more confident with their body. When humans are more confident with themselves life just seems better. People eliminate their insecurities and are confident physically and are not afraid to go anywhere or talk to anyone because of their body. Not only will weight lifters feel more confident physically, lifters will also believe in themselves more. Completing a workout that pushes a lifter to the limit gives a personal confidence that they can complete anything that they set their minds to. A final effect will be the physical and mental strength gained from lifting. Lifters gain muscle and become physically stronger. This makes day-to-day tasks to be easier and less of a hassle. Whether lifters are just standing up, or moving boxes for work, the tasks are easier for those who
Although Osteoporosis cannot be cured, treatments to prevent Osteoporosis, such as exercising, may be taken into consideration. “Exercise during the age when bone growth is occurring increases bone density, while increased weight-bearing exercise after the age of peak bone density acts mainly by reducing expected bone loss.” Because both younger and older adults should always be exercising, the result for increased bone mass varies between these two different age groups (young and old).

Weight lifting is a broad term used to represent a vast number of actual exercises and styles. Weightlifting can be broken down into weight training, bodybuilding, fitness lifting, isometric training, resistance training, and athletic training. Although they posses similarities, often their objective separates them. Weight training generally means the pursuit of getting as strong as possible, and uses dead weight such as dumbbells and barbells. Bodybuilders have the goal to get the largest muscle mass and often times have a very small percent body fat. Fitness training or endurance training is often performed with low weight and high repetitions to build muscular endurance and general, non-athletic fitness. In isomeric training, the muscles and joints don't...
This workout will assist with people’s everyday life by augmenting muscular endurance. An elevated muscular endurance will be less prone to muscle strains and tears because of the resistance they have developed, extended workout times, and a better stamina from the repetitions of lifting weights (“Benefits of Muscular Endurance”). Everyday life will be eased as it is easier to lift heavy items; the exercise overloads your muscles which challenges them so that they must adapt and therefore get stronger to meet the challenge of lifting those more hefty items. "To make a muscle grow, you must force it to go beyond its capabilities. The most potent way to apply that force is to train to failure. Training to failure means...the muscles are forced to grow stronger and bigger," says Nasser El Sonbaty who has body built for many years. With this easier way of doing things, people can get daily chores and activities done more quickly and efficiently which will also decrease stress levels tha...

Strength training should be a part of everyone’s life, and it could definitely be a part of your.
Many studies have shown that resistance training improves strength and many other aspects in the elderly population. Although the literature covers a wide variety of such theories, this review will focus on major themes, which will emerge repeatedly throughout the literature reviewed. These themes are: high intensity resistance training improves the muscle mass, strength and hypertrophy, muscle hypertrophy was due to the increase in type I and II fibres and muscle mass and strength gains were slightly more or less the same for both men and women but the was an overall increase in strength adaptations (Williams & Stewart, 2009). Although this literature presents these themes in a variety of contexts, this paper will primarily focus on the effect of resistance training on the elderly population in terms of muscle hypertrophy and strength.

It has long been thought that lifting weights at a very young age could stunt a child's growth, but more recent research has found that to be an inaccurate assumption. Dr. Na’ana Constantini was asked if lifting could stunt growth and his response was “ Lifting weights is not dangerous for teenagers if done correctly, with weights up to five kilos or so. It can do them good, by improving their motor ability” (qtd. in Siegel). I agree with this quote, but I feel that the weight mentioned is too broad. A weight of five kilos is only a little over eleven pounds, which would be appropriate for some teens, but the limit to lifting should not be set by age but rather by physical maturity. “ The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that kids avoid advanced use of weights such as in competitive sports of weightlifting, powerlifting and bodybuilding until their bodies

Increased Performance- if the athlete has a high level of self-confidence the players’ performance will increase due to the positive psychological state the athlete is in. When an athlete is self confident the athlete will not doubt him/herself as he/she knows that they can achieve the task. As an athlete myself have experienced the effects of high self confidence, as a basketball player self confidence is a key factor because you will never know when you will have to take a game winning shot or any other shot for that case, if the player is not self confident the shot has a very slight chance of going into the
Weight-bearing exercise is the most helpful for building strong bones. That can be as simple as walking around. A caregiver will help if you feel weak or don’t have good balance. When I first began to exercise, I was primarily trying to add size on to my body. At the time I only weighed about one hundred sixty pounds and I was six foot one inch. I was also eight teen and feeling that my lack of participating in school sporting events, as well as my abuse of alcohol and less than ideal food choices, had stunted my physical potential. With this new found feeling of inadequacy I set off on a journey that would change my life forever. The first thing I noticed when I began searching for ways to change my body, was that I was obviously going to have to buy weights if I wanted to look like the guys in the gym. So I set out and purchased the cheapest bench and set of weights I could find. I began to mimic exercises that I had seen people do on television or while walking past the gym. In a period of about a month I had already noticed a huge difference in the amount of weight that I could lift. Within the first year of unorganized lifting, as well as no change to my eating habits, I h...
