A good way to check if the information can be trusted is to compare the facts found on the website with other information and facts found from other internet or print sources. To check the authority of a site, the page should be examined for information about the author, note if anyone else has contributed to the website, check for contact information, and see if the author has created other websites with factual information. It is a good sign if there is contact information for the author, because it means someone is taking credit for the information on the page (“Criteria Used in Evaluating Web Resources”, 2014). If someone is taking credit, there is a better chance that the information can be trusted because the author would not want a bad reputation and to be held accountable for sharing false information. Fogg also discusses transactional credibility, which he defines as the credibility that is established during the time of interaction (Fogg, 2003). Social conformity plays a role in source credibility, and five characteristics have the greatest impact on an audience: expertness, reliability, intentions, dynamism, and personal attractiveness. When an audience finds the five characteristics in a source, the source is then perceived as more credible (Griffin, 1967).

People spend a large amount of time researching products before they decide to buy them. 86% of people use search engines to research products. 62% of people who research products online buy products in the store. People who research services and products online are more likely to make a buying decision (Peneycad). 78% of people are influenced by post from companies on social media websites. 72% of people are trusting of online recommendations of products. Peneycad mentions,“This means 72% of people trust complete strangers just as [much] as people they know when it comes to making a purchase decision (Peneycad 2).
Moreover, businesses thrive from consumer reviews that are readily accessible at the touch of a button. Consumers may decide to buy or not to buy a product based on what the buzz is on social media. We have never had so much information readily available since the beginning of time. When you were a child and wanted to research a topic for an essay, you may look it up in an encyclopedia. Today you might use an interface, such as Google.
Online education is a booming trend in the education world. It is something different than the traditional classroom. It is allowing student around the world the opportunity to get an education. Online education allows student to have a more proficient and cheaper way of learning. Having multiple ways to give a student an education allows all learning types to find their own way of learning.
