I have chosen Walt Disney as a person I would consider to be an effective communicator. Walt Disney is and remains a source of inspiration to many who have heard him speak publicly. Even those of us who have only heard recordings of speeches given by Walt in the past. Walt Disney possesses many of the qualities that make up Characteristics of Competent Communicators (pg.21). Walt Disney was able to relate to his audience and knew which appropriate terms to use. He showed “knowledge of the other person” (pg.22) by being careful in his wording that he chose showing sensitivity to his audience.
