Words cannot express how ecstatic I was upon receiving the email notifying me of my acceptance to WASHU. One of the many factors that attracted me to WASHU is their dedication to ensuring students success by creating a supportive environment for growth and achievement. The TRiO program encompasses everything that made me fall in love with WASHU, but takes it one step further. The small community of students and mentors working together and supporting each other as we transition from high school to college, and then from college to our future career is an aspect of TRiO that I embrace wholeheartedly. I am also drawn to the opportunities made available to assist and support others who have had the same experiences as me. My parents always
stressed the importance of an education despite neither having a bachelor's degree. However, many high school graduates chose not to attend college because their parents and grandparents did not. Through my experiences at WASHU, I want to inspire the younger generation to not only imagine the possibilities afforded through education, but show them how to overcome obstacles that will help their dream become a reality. This program will give me the chance to reach out to others, and help pave the way for future first generation graduates. The mentorship offered by the TRiO program has eased my anxiousness about successfully navigating through college. A few days before I received the TRiO Scholar letter, I had been talking with my mom about the numerous First Year Programs and began to feel overwhelmed. WASHU has so much to offer and I want to take advantage of the academic benefits granted to their students. Being selected for the TRiO program will provide the tools necessary to achieve great things scholastically, personally, and in the community without getting lost in the hustle and bustle of college life. If accepted as a TRiO scholar, I will take full advantage of what TRiO has to offer. Lastly, financial assistance towards fees or books will be greatly appreciated. I look forward to service as a TRIO scholar and contributing to the growth of the program.
I am a dedicated, focused student looking to push the boundaries of Engineering Physics with creative out of the box thinking. I have the drive to be successful and positively represent UBC Engineering Physics. I have a passion for physics and math which is why I believe this program is so appealing and a perfect choice. Having already started, run and sold a successful landscaping company, I have experience in entrepreneurship and have determined being an entrepreneur is something I want to pursue in the future. I believe Engineering Physics would give me the opportunity and breadth of knowledge to make my entrepreneurial vision a reality and allow me to find solutions to the issues that will impact the future of humanity. An HBCU is a college/university that embeds the nature of power and black excellence; a place with surroundings that doesn’t force you, but makes you want to push yourself to become a better person inside and out, and throughout the community. Transferring would allow myself to be put in an atmosphere of continuous motivation and growth that I would feed off of my superiors and the people around me.
The main component I look for in college is their commitment to further my studies. I feel this college will provide an ingenious culture within the science field, therefore rendering myself with the building blocks necessary to later pursue the medical field. Not only does UNCW devote itself towards their student’s undergraduate years, but also by providing Professional pathways such as Pre-Medicine, students such as myself can go into Professional schools better prepared. In addition to my interest in the academics the school has to offer, I also marvel at the amount of extracurricular activities available to the student body. One student organization in particular is the Greek Life. When my mother attended this school, she was an avid member
I was born 7 weeks premature, this has lead to some health consequences in my life. My right lung never finished growing and this lead me to be susceptible to severe pneumonia when I was 14 years old. I was hospitalized at Children's Mercy Hospital and incredibly vulnerable. Due to the expert treatment of the highly trained hospital staff that I received, I have now fully recovered. Since then, I do everything I can to stay healthy and keep my body and lungs strong. I have changed my outlook on life, realizing that every second is a blessing and feeling like it is my duty to give my time to the world. That is why I began volunteering at Homeless Centers in Kansas City such as, the World Outreach Foundation and Seton Center. I focused in the medical departments of these centers but I felt like I could never give wholey of myself. I did not have the knowledge. But just blocks away from these centers is KCU, that is why I aspire to attend KCU, it is an institution that provided hope in my mind that I could give
Over the course of two years, I was able to create bonds and gain long lasting mentors from these experiences. In this program, I did case studies on sexual health, neurology, and public health. With these case studies, I was able to practice leadership skills and investigative thinking along with my peers. Through the Emory Pipeline Program, I also learned new technology within the medical field and how the new technology aided our local hospitals. These experiences opened doors for me to explore what my career calling was.
Not only am I confident that Rutgers University will fully assist me in reaching my personal enrichment, but I have faith that it will help me to achieve my career goals as well. Throughout the years, the Scarlet Knights have surely made a name for themselves in New Jersey. I have yet to decide on a specific major, but attending Rutgers will allow me to get a taste of the many majors the University has to offer. Benefiting from Rutgers is not the question. The real question is how would one not? A degree from Rutgers has a such a strong value. Not just that, but there is a lot of involved with the school and students.

My immediate goals after completing this program is to take some time off from school, pay off our (additional) student loans, and when the time is right possibly evaluate the feasibility of pursuing my Bachelor Degree in Healthcare Administration or continue on in trying to obtain my Master 's Degree in Nursing. However, I currently foresee immediate challenges to those plans - my eldest child, my son, is currently a junior in high school, aspiring to become a Pharmacist and attend UH Hilo. In addition, my daughter, who is three years younger to my son, is aspiring to become an Ophthalmologist. So as with any parents, I may put my goal aside to help both my children achieve their goals.
In conclusion, I was fortunate enough to understand many important things in life. One of those things is that we do not always begin at the desired start line, but through effort and strong will we can arrive at the desired finish line, where the outcome of our plans and goals reside. In my pursuit of education, I faced many challenges and hardships, but I always viewed them as temporary setbacks not as a finish line. I am certain that an opportunity to study at the UW would help me reach my finish line.
After being accepted to Longwood University, my family and I sat down to discuss my goals. During our conversation, my sisters questioned my ability to achieve these goals, while my parents inquired why Longwood University should play a role in my aptitude for higher education. To systematically answer most of their questions, my father Larry, my sister Candyce and I set out to attend a campus tour. It was that tour which made me I fell in love with the campus and community. Through Longwood University, I have received a community of people that sincerely care about my education, my family, my health, and my dreams. As I contemplate empowering the youth and setting a standard for future generations, I must advance to become a Longwood University Master of Business Administration via the MBAdvantage Program with a concentration in Real Estate.
I am currently applying for the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts at University of Michigan. When I was young, I have dreamed of going beyond the boarders of my hometown, eager to explore the rest of the world. My spirit of adventure only grows along with time. As mentioned above, I would like to step into places for volunteering work. I believed I am made to improve and care for those in need, not for anything but I believe I am responsible. It is known that U-Mich grants students great programs under The Michigan Difference. If I am able to be accepted as a student at U-Mich, I would like to participate in the Undergraduate Research opportunity Program under the LSA. It would be an honor to study outside a school to truly explore
For the past two years, I’d been doing a college readiness program called upward bound. Each summer, I resided at the university of Dayton and took classes. I treated this program just as I would treat school. I wanted nothing more but to succeed and receive good grades. During the summer, I made sure that I performed to the best of my ability.
My undergraduate degree at DTU has laid the groundwork for me through a well-designed curriculum that has helped me develop...
I chose to take a Washburn University dual credit course not only to challenge myself, but to try and get ahead in my studies. Enrolling with Washburn allows me to complete college level courses during high school, and in turn, enables me to take more classes during my four years of college. I will be able to partake in additional classes beyond the required due to the fact that I will have already obtained the necessary history credits to graduate. Another reason that dual credit courses appeal to me is that they can be used as teaching tools to slowly immerse one into college life.
