I chose to take a Washburn University dual credit course not only to challenge myself, but to try and get ahead in my studies. Enrolling with Washburn allows me to complete college level courses during high school, and in turn, enables me to take more classes during my four years of college. I will be able to partake in additional classes beyond the required due to the fact that I will have already obtained the necessary history credits to graduate. Another reason that dual credit courses appeal to me is that they can be used as teaching tools to slowly immerse one into college life. Taking dual credit courses with Washburn University will allow me to experience the workload of a college student. This familiarity with advanced work and upper-level
No matter the previous career path, preventive circumstances, prior academic history or lack of self-confidence, these colleges provide the tools for anyone to further their education. The common students at these facilities understand the importance of education because they’ve experienced the beast of life. One could argue that perhaps this understanding goes a bit deeper than that of one at a four year institution. Any way you slice it, community colleges offer the ability for everyone to academically arrive on common ground. This should be a triumph, not a
Dual credit classes increase the likeliness that the student will get a high education judging that he already has some credits which shows he has a initiative to work hard and move on to the next step which is college or a tech school. When taking a dual credit course it is tough and requires you to push yourself to get it done and its thought it teaches students how college will go giving them a preview and now that they have that going to college will seem like less of a step. Starting a job is the hardest part of the job and I think that dual credit is the equivalent of starting the
Dual Enrollment (DE) is a program that allows students to be enrolled in two different academically related institutions at the same time. Usually, this term refers to those high school kids who take both high school classes and college classes at the same time. The college credits earned through DE can be applied toward high school graduation or can be transferred to any college/university but rules vary from state to state. If you do not go to college after high school graduation, then you should probably not choose Dual Enrollment because the credits earned through DE will not do you any good. Nowadays, most of the students go to college, so it’s a great deal for them.
This is my first year here at Porterville College, I can say that I have learned many new things. Things that I wanted to learn, that seemed interesting to me, and more important that I was able to do was connect somethings that I have learned in my personal experience, and I think that’s what makes it more interesting and fun. In my “Child, Family, and Community” I have learned how important it is for a child to be in a safe environment where they can have the opportunity to choose from many choices. Also I, have learned about the variety of programs here in Tulare Country that help families and young kids to better themselves for a better life. Another class that I don’t regret taking is English 73X because I have learned many things which
Time sure does fly; in the blink of an eye, yet another 7.5-week class has come and gone. Just like life, it is scary to think that in just a few short years I will be graduating college and in search of a future career. The magnitude of readings, assignments, PowerPoint lectures, and videos have all contributed to the valuable knowledge I have gained since taking this course. Nothing that was presented or required was seen as invaluable towards my progression of career development. This career development course has allowed me to do some self-exploration, career research, and help me understand what influencing factors are related to the job market.
Over the years, these nontraditionals have chosen either slower or faster options to proceed through their chosen curricula. They could work incrementally, taking a few courses per year while taking advantage of workplace tuition reimbursement programs or similar specialized programs to fund their college education. Recently, online education has allowed accelerated progress toward earning degrees. Traditional institutions developed these formats to serve working adults, and the emergence of nontraditional institutions such as the University of Phoenix delivered accelerated education in a variety of flexible formats such as asynchronous learning.

Imagine a young man who has nearly graduated from high school. His life should be full of hope and promise of a bright future, but he has no idea in which direction he desires to head. Picture a single mom who recently went through a divorce, she didn’t imagine she ever needed to worry for her financial future again. What about the students who excel in their studies of choice, but struggle with the subjects foreign to them? Community college can assist in overcoming those obstacles. The benefits of attending a community college include easier transitions, helping recent high school graduates transition to a 4-year college, and smaller class sizes.
I am currently a mid-level manager and to move forward in my organization I need to obtain a four-year degree. I was able to directly use what I was learning in this course in my work relat...
On March 19, 2018 Dr. Angela Glymph spoke to students taking a psychology course during the 2018 spring semester at Hampton University. Dr. Glymph is a Howard University alumni working at a non-profit organization as a social psychologist. During the presentation she primarily discussed her undergraduate and graduate experiences. Additionally, she communicated the ways in which she took a different path from most social psychologist.
Suffolk University’s Healthcare Administration program will offer me a variety of opportunities to succeed in out of the classroom and transform me into a
Having a minor in business and having health administration as my major, I have learned to appreciate the business classes’, especially the ones that focuses on technology. I feel my course work in MIS 3530 has allowed me to develop in serval core competencies. Over the 16 weeks, I have been able to learn more about computer systems, html, CSS, and coding videos. I have always loved computers, and for the most part I yearned to learn more about them as whole. I have never been great at coding, html, or cascading style sheet, and thus is why I decided to take the course.
During the summer of 2015 I attended Kenai Peninsula College for a three week summer program held by Excel Alaska. I chose to learn about Process Technology and see what it takes to work as a process operator. It was a great experience and I enjoy working equally with my hands and brain.
College life for many new graduates can be a turn off, especially after years of public education, and the thought of spending more time in class is too much to bear. Still, others may decide it is too early to join the workforce, and choose to enroll in a college instead. The workload for college students can be difficult due to the expense of attending, increased complexity of coursework, and self-governing responsibility needed to succeed. Nonetheless, those who enter the real world can expect rigid work schedules, usually less than adequate pay, and uncertain economic job markets. One noticeable aspect of the real world is the demands employers may place upon his or her employees. Some employers maintain stiff attendance policies and fixed performance quotas. Staying the entire du...
I have chosen to go to the local community college to get used to the college experience. College life can be an exciting time but at the same time it can be a challenge. I feel that starting out at the community college would be a better chose than "jumping" into life at a four-year university.
