Americans volunteer not because of profit, but because they recognize a need and are willing to take responsibility for meeting that need. Volunteering is my top interest. A benefit that you obtain from volunteering is the satisfaction of incorporating service into people lives, and making a difference in their community and country. Volunteers provide valuable service and helping others usually comes to mind first when I think of the volunteer service I provide. I am determined to help others because an important part of living a happy and fulfilling life includes being part of a community where you can share, help and support people who are facing a crucial moment in their lives. I am the first person in my family to attend college. In order for me to reach my goals I realize that I must pursue an eight year college education which will begin in the Fall of 2017 at the University of South Alabama. As you know, a college education is quite expensive, but it is an investment that is certainly worthwhile. Therefore, I need as much help as possible to accomplish my college degree. I already have the moral support of my family and loved ones, but that is not quite enough to make my dream come true. Unfortunately, I will not be able to receive financial assistance from my parents because of low family income. My father is the only employee in the home with a salary of approximately $23,000 yearly. Therefore , I face an overwhelming need for financial assistance in order to attend college. I am very excited about my future and feel that with the opportunity your scholarship will provide, I will be able to help many patients in the health …show more content…
I have been diligent in my pursuit of medicine as a career because I am convinced that medicine offers me the opportunity to live a fulfilling, rewarding life dedicated to helping others. I don't wish to be the wealthiest or most highly graduated doctor the world's ever seen, but I want to be one who will serve her people and country in a true manner. I think that pursuing such a career will provide me the opportunity to help improve the community's health quality conditions and learn about their medical needs. I understand that it is a long journey of study to become a good doctor. However, although, this is a challenging career, I have confidence in myself to accomplish
I know that through my hard work and dedication I can make my goals a reality. However, it may not be possible without these Scholarships. While my parents will help me in any way they can, I am hoping that my hard work and dedication to my studies pays off. I am a very self-driven individual who will accomplish any goal I set my mind on achieving. I am also aware of how without scholarships I may face a financial setback. I am hoping that through the help of scholarships I will be able to achieve all my goals in a timely
Four years of hard work on my undergrad is only half of the journey. When I get accepted into a medical school the workloads will get even more challenging, a decision that I hope I will not regret along the years of hard work I have accumulated. I want to become a doctor because the feeling that I get when I have helped someone’s health get better is a reward itself. I don’t need the payment for that. I lied, making $300k a year is also a nice benefit of being a doctor in addition to making my patients feeling better and seeing their progression improve. The money is nice nonetheless, but I will have genuine care for my patients rest assured. I honestly hope money will not change the way that I am in regards to my care. I aspire not to become that doctor who just chases after money, that doctor who views his patient’s face as a source of income. Also, coming from an immigrant family after the Vietnam War, my expectations entrusted onto me are the dangling weights on my shoulder. My dad used to work two jobs, 18 hours a day in order to put food on the table and a roof over our heads for my family. He worked in those circumstances for ten years before he received a manager position at the Wynn. My parents do not have everything, but have worked around to give me everything I have ever wanted. I feel that it is my obligation to do the same and return the favor by studying and becoming
Volunteering is a large part many nonprofit organizations. A volunteer is choosing to donate their personal time and resources to the cause they support. By volunteering, an individual has an outlet to express their values or embrace a particular culture within pout society.
People’s lives are changed every day by their actions and experiences. This past summer, I participated in a community service project, an experience that opened my eyes in many ways. I was a volunteer at the County Memorial Hospital. In my time as a volunteer at the hospital, I was able to meet patients and staff members from all over the world and learn about their life experiences. Listening to all of their stories has made me truly appreciate everything which I have.
I began my college career unsure of the path ahead of me. I knew I had a passion for medicine, however, I did not know which direction I would take. With the expansive amount of options offered within the fields of science and medicine, it was difficult to narrow down exactly what direction I wanted to take. I gained some clarity the summer of my sophomore year when I stayed at a close friend’s home, whose father, a practicing Medical Physician, became somewhat of a mentor to me. The passionate way in which he discussed the practice of medicine led me to develop an interest in pursuing a career as a physician. He explained that a career in the medical field was about responsibility, the responsibility to work with all members of the healthcare team for the well-being of the patient as well as their family
Aristotle once said, “The roots of education are bitter, but the fruit is sweet”. Two thousand years forward, Aristotle’s words has transcended its meaning into this new age. A college education to an incoming freshman is an exorbitant amount of money, but in this day and age, a degree is almost a requisite to be successful. Especially in my situation, since I will need two degrees in order to fulfill my career goals. The Virginia Endly Memorial Scholarship will help me in my first year at Emporia State University by allowing myself not to start adulthood in debt and giving me the ability to focus solely on my education.
I need this scholarship to achieve my goals and most importantly to make my family proud. My family did not get this chance that you are giving me so I am not just doing this for me, I am also doing this for them. I already have all the support from all of my family and all of my friends, but that alone is not enough to conquer my dreams, and to prove all the people that have doubted me that they were wrong. I hope that this organization can help me reach my goals, and to most importantly make them become a reality. I want to look back onto my life and know that this scholarship, and college helped me to be the man I will be. I hope you accept me into your college and most importantly giving me this
I had to plan fun events, but also make them very inexpensive. This was an
The life of a successful physician is my ultimate pursuit due to its fulfilment of all of my personal desires: a complete knowledge of the human body, a desire to impact the world positively, and a yearning to lead a life dedicated to helping others. My personal drive towards medicine came about-in part -due to the passion both my parents possess for their jobs. This opened the doors of curiosity which led into further personal studies and exploration within the field. I would be an asset to medical school and the medical profession due to my absolute humanitarian motives, the profitable experiences that have helped me grow as an individual, and my passion for the sciences.
Thousands of homeless animals are looking for forever homes in America. Volunteering is a great way to give to your community and socialize the animals at the shelters. Working with dogs and cats that have not had good starts in their lives helps them trust again. It helps animals get over the trauma they have had before they went to the shelter. Socializing makes the animal more adoptable and they are given a chance to get forever homes. Volunteer at your local humane society 's and help out the animals like I have worked with in shelters.
I realize my lifetime goal is a little farfetched, seeing as how competitive the medical field is. I’m aware many people have failed in this endeavor, and it is very rarely achieved; however, based on the community service hours and extracurricular activities I have involved myself in, I feel my chances at succeeding are just as good as any. Becoming a doctor will be stressful and time taking (after all, it is a lifetime goal), but the reward at the end will be gratifying.
A global citizen is that who is willing to use its voice and knowledge to make a change. No one would ever be able to make a change in just one day, it is something that takes time and devotion. I’m really interested in diversity and I’m seeking to what is my role is as a world citizen. The fact that I’m searching for an international education is the proof of my desire to establish myself as a global citizen and my interest in the world issues.
Small acts of kindness that are done everyday by ordinary people who simply just care are motivating influencers for me when to volunteer. Witnessing and generosity and empathy for others are what inspire me to keep giving back. It’s also motivating for me to look back on the support and altruism of those who supported me during the obstacles I faced. Many of us have experienced challenges or moments that have shaped us into who we are today and the work we dedicate our lives to. That idea alone is what sustains me in the nonprofit sector and world of volunteerism.
Charity refers to the giving or organizations or a place or entertainment. The practice of charity may involve such acts as practicing generosity. Thru this essay I will examine different elements of charity in relation to the Summa Theologiae.
Throughout my life, I have worked towards one goal which is to become a doctor. Medicine offers the opportunity for me to integrate different scopes of science while trying to improve human life. Medicine has intrigued me throughout all my life because it??s a never ending mystery and every answer has questions, and vice versa. Upon entering my career, I had assumed that professional and financial success would surely bring personal fulfillment. This realization triggered a process of self-searching that led me to medicine. The commitment to provide others with healthcare is a serious decision for anyone. As I examined my interests and goals, however, I underwent a process of personal growth that has propelled me towards a career as a physician. A career in medicine will allow me to integrate thoroughly my passion for science into a public-service framework. Since childhood, I have loved acquiring scientific knowledge, particularly involving biological processes. During my undergraduate studies, I displayed my ability to juggle competing demands while still maintaining my academic focus; I have succeeded at school while volunteering part time, spending time with family and friends, and working part-time. To better serve my expected patient population, I worked over my English and Korean language skills. I have come to discover that a job and even a good income, without another significant purpose, will not bring satisfaction. I planed to utilize my assets, namely my problem- solving affinity, strong work ethic, and interpersonal commitment, to craft a stimulating, personally rewarding career in medicine. I have taken stock of myself, considering my skills, experiences, and goals. I have looked to family and friends, some of whom are doctors, for advice. Because of this self-examination, I have decided to pursue a career in health care. The process has been difficult at times but always illuminating. Throughout it all, I have never lost confidence - the confidence that I will actively absorb all available medical knowledge, forge friendships with fellow students, and emerge from my training as a skilful and caring physician.
