Charity refers to the giving or organizations or a place or entertainment. The practice of charity may involve such acts as practicing generosity. Thru this essay I will examine different elements of charity in relation to the Summa Theologiae.
As the fist point to begin, charity is explained as a two way component, which has charity itself and following by wisdom. The first consideration is given a five way perspective, which has charity itself, the objects of charity, its acts, the conflicting vices and the principles that relates thereto . The first part of “charity itself” forms the main discussion in this essay. These two parts include itself and charity as considered as itself. I will try to explain the different roles of charity as ” itself” which consists of these different aspects in which charity plays a role.
 Whether charity is friendship?
 Whether charity is created in the soul?
 Whether it is a virtue?
 Whether it a unique virtue?
 Whether it is one virtue?
 Whether it is the greatest virtue?
 Whether any true virtue exists without it?
 Whether it is the form of all virtues?
For the first case of charity, being friendship is not true. Charity is not friendship because nothing is so close as to exist in with one’s friend. This is doubt is attributed to the philosophers . And, charity is exercised by man to God but does not exist with men. This supports that charity is not friendship. According to the bible, Christ talks about true friendship. This is where the fear of God and the teachings of the divine scriptures bring men together.

On the other hand, Augustine argues that Charity is a virtue, which unites us to God, when our friendliness or friendship is focused in a mean in specific. We can notice that charity works properly for its purpose. This tells us that the effectiveness of an act depends on the power or the intentions of the person who leads the act. Therefore, it is evident that charity is not self-importance . But is the product of an effect that comes from a justification of the soul, because relates us to God, and can be a proof of a Divine power, in which charity plays a big role.
In conclusion throughout this essay I tried to describe both sides of the three attribute of charity; whether charity is friendship? Whether charity is created in the soul? Whether it is a virtue? and at the end came out with some opinions and conclusions.
