SLIDE 2: Huffington Post, called “Social Networking In Schools: Educators Debate The Merits Of Technology In Classrooms”, which drove me to question whether the merits really outweigh the demerits or not.

The article provides both pros and cons about using technology, specifically social media websites, as a method of providing information and resources for educators and students. The article presents the debate of the uses of social networking in school environments and assesses the positive and negative impact that social media has on education. It presents several examples that show positive outcomes from the use of social networking and some examples that show the negative outcomes.

1. Introduction: Social media has changed the way we interact with the Internet. For example, the birth of the profile as a representation of personal and social information about a person has led us to have a place on the Internet where we and others can go anytime we want.

Thesis:
The quick distribution of information has led to a widespread access to knowledge that previously was not openly available through education in school. As such, we are equipped with more learning tools when we engage in social media.

Analyzing the article:
• How objective is this article? Huffington post is a company, and given that bias and the fact that its all over Facebook and twitter; o It is objective in the sense that it provides real life examples to support the text, and as you can see, even Huffington post is using social networking to share this content with other social media websites like Facebook or twitter. o Social media is a place with goods and bads. This article puts a belief on the idea that the benefits outweigh the disadvantages that the article is inclined to present social media as an alternative to education.

SLIDE 4: Advantages.
• In the past time there is a division between school and extra-curricular life, such that school stays at school. Social media bridges this gap uniting school with the extra-curricular lives of students. "By understanding how students may be positively using these networking technologies in their daily lives and where the as-yet-unrecognized educational opportunities are, we can help make schools even more relevant, connected, and meaningful to kids." o Presents the main idea of the article in a positive way. “as-yet-unrecognized educational opportunities” refers to the open ended opportunities, in this case social media, that has not been fully used in the education system.
