Halloween is the time of year that most people loved the idea of being scared beyond belief. But nowadays it’s harder to be genuinely scared because it seems like some people have become accustomed to most horrifying things that relate to Halloween due to the fact that it is the same every year. Nonetheless every year amusement parks use Halloween as a marketing scheme to get people and their friends to come to their horror nights, and spend money on ridiculous overpriced items, which all present the same things; clowns, clowns, chainsaws, and more clowns. Yes we can all agree that clowns are scary, but there has to come a time where the ones coming up with these “horror nights” step back and realize that what they are doing is no longer working anymore. But alas there is someone out there who knows what they’re doing, and it quite possibly could have to do with the fact that they are connected to the movie studio that did invent the horror film genre. But what makes Universal Studios Halloween Horror night so sinister? Universal Studios has a way where they take you out of reality and place you in a horror movie where you encounter many horror mazes, and also by the way they attack your senses in unexpected ways.
Upon walking into Universal Studios again after spending the entire day there, is like walking into a whole new place. Outside the walls it’s business as usual, reality. But after walking in its like stepping into an actual horror movie. When walking into other amusement parks for horror night they all look the same, and Universal Studios is no different but for them it just works. They have many actors walking around playing the part of the characters we see in Hollywood’s scariest movies and you live out your own horr...

...ey walk out of a haunted house, ensuring that it is going to be a scary one. Nowadays it’s hard to find a place to go to on Halloween that isn’t overplayed and not scary at all, but there is a place and its Universal Studios.
Universal Studios works in an unexpected way because with other amusement parks who hosts a fright fest/Horror night is just not scary anymore, and you would just assume it would be the same way. It’s different because it makes you feel like you’re actually in a horror movie with the multiple haunted mazes and the way it attacks your senses. It’s worth the money for the price of admission, and it’s a place where you can socialize with friends and family, and meet new people. But it’s not a place to go if you are not mentally stable due to the fact that it is a horror night. A horror night that against all odds, still remains to scare people.
Halloween is rife with psychological scares that affect its audience greatly. “Symbolism, dreamlike imagery, emotional rather than rational logic” are present in Psychoanalytic criticism. Siskel and Ebert talked about how the movie makes you feel as if you are the protagonist, scared for your life and feeling every bit of suspense (Siskel and Ebert). The movie is purely fueled by emotional responses to what is happening to the characters and focuses itself purely on how the audience will respond. In the clip shown, the main protagonist talks about how she killed the killer but he is shown alive. The movie is not concerned with the logic; otherwise, the killer would have at least been slowed down by the injuries he sustained. Siskel and Ebert laud the movie on its set up of scenes, score, character development, and use of lighting to make the audience feel the terror the characters undergo.
My opinion though is that Universal Studios Orlando is awesome and fun that a lot of people will enjoy. Some information about Universal Studios is that it has a lot of different types of rides. They have different sections of the park with different types of themes like the Harry Potter theme. That is one of its biggest attractions to the park. There is so much to do at the park you can go on rides, eat at restaurants, or just walk around the park
Universal Studios is an action pack theme park were you can go on a quest with Shrek and find his wife princes Fiona or help the min in black kill aliens in an alien hunt to save society. Universal is also known for the character interactions, while walking to our next you I ran into a transformer patrolling the streets making sure we get to our next ride safe, then I seen the minions from despicable me waving and talking to people. Universal also have a variety of other things to do such as shows. One of my favorite shows is the blue man group. The blue man group Is a musical and somewhat of a comedy show using your everyday things an instruments such as, a garbage can, glass bottles, glass plates and many more. After attending the park, we went back to the hotel to get dinner and bowl at the hotels bowling alley called
To begin with, some people would say they enjoy a horror movie that gets them scared out of their wits. They go see these movies once a month on average, for fun, each time choosing a newer sequel like “Final Destination” or “The evil Dead”. King says “When we pay our four or five bucks and seat ourselves at tenth-row center in a theater showing a horror movie we are daring the nightmare” (405). As a writer of best-sel...
The figures of attendance at the Universal Studios as compared to Disneyland state that the former’s annual attendance is less than even half of the later.
Do you ever wonder what you would do if you were being chased by a zombie? Last October on the weekend before Halloween, I got to find out the answer to that very important question. My friends Ashley, Anna, Vikram, and I decided to go to the Great America Fright Fest. It’s a very unique event where the whole park is decorated for halloween and filled with lots of scary attractions for the entire month. It had been a sweltering day for late October filled with lots of cotton candy and rollercoasters, and as the sun sank lower into the sky the real fun began.
"The mythic horror movie, like the sick joke, has a dirty job to do. It deliberately appeals to all that is worst in us. It is morbidity unchained, our most base instincts let free, our nastiest fantasies realized ...and it all happens, fittingly enough, in the dark."
Reflecting back on the most iconic figures in the history of horror cinema, characters like Michael Myers, Freddy Krueger, and Jason Voorhees still shine brighter than all the rest – even despite their current lack of utilization. In the meantime, an array of other “big bads,” ranging from Ghostface, Jigsaw, and Annabelle, has attempted to climb the proverbial ladder into the (imaginary) horror hall of fame.
How the Opening Sequence of Halloween Captures the Attention of the Audience ' 'Halloween' was made in 1978 and is a good example of the 'Slasher' movies from that time and this is an interesting piece of cinema as it can be related to the German expressionism of the late 1920's which used jerky camera shots and high contrast lighting to enthrall the viewer .In this essay I will discuss how the opening to Halloween captures the audiences attention and how codes and conventions create suspense and tension for the audience.
Horror films are designed to frighten the audience and engage them in their worst fears, while captivating and entertaining at the same time. Horror films often center on the darker side of life, on what is forbidden and strange. These films play with society’s fears, its nightmare’s and vulnerability, the terror of the unknown, the fear of death, the loss of identity, and the fear of sexuality. Horror films are generally set in spooky old mansions, fog-ridden areas, or dark locales with unknown human, supernatural or grotesque creatures lurking about. These creatures can range from vampires, madmen, devils, unfriendly ghosts, monsters, mad scientists, demons, zombies, evil spirits, satanic villains, the possessed, werewolves and freaks to the unseen and even the mere presence of evil.
Modern day horror films are very different from the first horror films which date back to the late nineteenth century, but the goal of shocking the audience is still the same. Over the course of its existence, the horror industry has had to innovate new ways to keep its viewers on the edge of their seats. Horror films are frightening films created solely to ignite anxiety and panic within the viewers. Dread and alarm summon deep fears by captivating the audience with a shocking, terrifying, and unpredictable finale that leaves the viewer stunned. (Horror Films)
King is right when he argues that people like the sudden excitement of watching a horror film. The horror genre keeps us on the edge of our seats and has us entranced with the overstimulation that comes with them. When he says “To show that we can, that we are not afraid, that we can ride this rollercoaster” he is implying that a horror movie is similar to riding a rollercoaster (King 1). The analogy lets the reader know he is saying people revel in the emotion of a horror movie, even if it scares them. People enjoy riding roller coasters because of the excitement and the rush that comes with it, just like people enjoy horror. The
Universal Studios is also known for its theme parks that highlight the productions of film and television outputted by their studios, these being located in Hollywood, Orlando, Japan and Singapore.
Would you rather be horrified beyond repair or thrilled to the point of no return? In horror, the main purpose is to invoke fear and dread into the audience in the most unrealistic way. Horror movies involve supernatural entities such as ghosts, vampires, teleportation, and being completely immortal. As thriller films are grounded in realism and involve more suspense, mystery, and a sense of panic. Though both genres will frighten the audience, it will happen in two different ways. Whether the horror thrills or the thriller horrifies, a scare is always incorporated.
Nathanael Luu has had many different experiences throughout his life. There are many fun ones and boring ones. Many happy experiences and many sad, but one stood out to him as the most frightening of all. Disneyland is a place where many kids know as one of the best places in the whole world, a place where some of the most exciting adventures happen to a kid. To Nathanael, it was where his scariest moment happened.
