3] TRANSMEDIA
Describe the ways in which Transmedia concepts are different than previous types of storytelling through feature films or television.
Transmedia storytelling represents a process where integral elements of a fiction get dispersed systematically across multiple delivery channels for the purpose of creating a unified and coordinated entertainment experience ( Jenkins, 2003).
Transmedia concepts are different than previous types of storytelling, involving creating content that engages an audience using various techniques to permeate their lives. To achieve engagement, transmedia develops stories across multiple forms of media in order to deliver pieces of content via each channel. These pieces of content link together (overtly or subtly), but in narrative synchronization or porposeful a-synchronisation with/to each other ( Jenkins, 2006).
Transmedia storytelling takes integral elements of a fiction, dispersing them systematically across multiple delivery channels for the purpose of creating a unified and coordinated entertainment experience.
It follows three
The use of Narrative in film and other forms of media is commonplace; it has become such that the media viewer has not only come to expect it but rely on it somewhat. There are two elements in narrative film today that combine in the engaging of the audience; 'story' and 'production' elements. One example in the Australian film industry of the use of production and story elements in such a way as to engage the audiences' attention is the film 'Two Hands'.
This involves contrast of the two language systems: Novels, which uses symbols to portray meaning, and films, which use codes to portray meaning. “The film’s story does not have to be told because it is presented” (29). The cinema is also unable to portray past tense in the ways that novels can. McFarlane also explains in “Stories told and presented” that the film is spatial, contrary to the novel’s linearity, resulting in different ways of presentation.
To construct a sitcom, like Home Improvement, there are certain media concepts that the show must take into consideration before building a set, and script. The medium that is chosen determines the format of the text, money limits construction, and the audience limits construction, as well as the lifestyles, and values of the audience. The writers of the show have to determine what dialogue is used in the script, for example the language and word choice that is used. The script also includes choosing a plot, setting, character’s, and narrator’s. To add to this list, the show could not be made possible without a recording environment, such as cameras, a studio to work in, lighting, sound effects, props, costumes, equipment for colouring, and fonts for messages.
This brief chapter in Salten’s novel Bambi foreshadows the many deaths to come and amplifies their meaning, while Disney’s animators realized they couldn’t render the haunting sub-story effectively and wisely hewed close to the broader strokes of the overall plot, which can be delivered successfully through both mediums. It’s not enough to tell a coherent story full of finely nuanced truths. The story has to travel through an effective medium, or no one will care, and if no one cares, no one will understand. The best mediums deliver structures of truth with maximum visceral impact, so that we not only grasp the revealed truth but fully internalize it.

The art of storytelling is not a modern invention, neither is adaptation. In spite of their century-old traditions, they both are relevant and evolving. Reading the same stories over and over again would get boring pretty quickly, but transcoding them to different media such as film or video games gives them new meanings, thus keeps them interesting. Adaptation opens up new dimensions for creators and consumers of adaptations alike. However, when the same story – or an element of the story - is used in various different media, it will inevitably spark debates on which one is superior. Adaptations often get frowned upon for appropriating and exploiting their adapted texts. There are many questions and doubts surrounding adaptation, such as what can be adapted and why are certain works easier to adapt.
Storytelling is something that we’ve seen throughout the years. Up to a point I do agree with the authors concerns about mediated storytelling. For example, she explains how fully invested fans want to see every movie, buy every toy figure and be fully involved. “So, for example, fully invested fans of Star Wars would want to own every toy, see every film, read every related book, and become familiar with all the emerging media affiliated with it, such as video games, Facebook fan pages, and regional gatherings” (Wagner, 2012). This is true and each day more people will crave entry into it and pay more money. The reality is that the author does have good statements explaining how society is very dependent on social media and technology but
The fundamental notion of Transmedia Storytelling is worldbuilding which, due to the complex universe, well-constructed
In the script, need to mention the narrative of the story, and the dialogue. A good storyline, with interest narrative can become more images driven. After the capture or production, it will be defined as a good film. (James, 1993)
As human beings, we enjoy an assortment of activities such as reading a novel or watching a movie. There are so many types of composition out there for people to choose from but some are not as interesting as others. I am the visual type who enjoys looking at pictures and watching films instead of reading blogs or forums with a lot of text. My parents are similar, as they spend the majority of their time watching television than reading books. From my parents, I was able to discover the composition of Asian dramas, which I now enjoy watching during my free time. Asian dramas are similar to a mini-series, in the way that they usually consist of about twenty episodes. They are much shorter than American television shows and include all the problems, details, and solutions of the story. This composition has opened up a variety of new perspectives of each Asian culture. It allowed me to realize how the elements of composition, such as imagery and style are essential in writing a script to producing a drama. Asian dramas are entertaining and effective compositions, opening up one to new perspectives of Asian culture and lifestyle.
Radio and television have a daily timetable, a protocol and a structure. Although not broadcast, the body of a film has a structure. Each of these media have different purposes,. Where TV and radio satisfy everyday entertainment and service requirements, film's form and the means in which it is presented sets it aside from the broadcast media.
Combined, storytelling, storymaking and visuals inspire and provide destination education and tourism information in an emotionally connective, positive and entertaining way. They distinguish you from your competitors, help readers conceptualize the travel experience and assist in guiding them towards a purchasing decision.
Transmedia storytelling is incessantly integrated in network society. However, the same argument cannot be made about its effectiveness in education. This is likely because education is still perceived as a traditional practice and although convergence culture has been a revelation in world of digital media, the power of multimodal education through transmedia is not seen as a substantiate substitute for outdated practices in academic pedagogies. This paper will analyze and investigate the role transmedia storytelling in education and its practices especially with the proliferation of contemporary digital media technology.
Transmedia storytelling is the process of extending a story by manipulating multiple platforms and mediums to communicate a story or construct an interactive experience (Jenkins, 2013). Each component directly contributes to developing the audiences understanding of the story’s world by designing a cohesive and coordinated entertainment experience. Successful Hollywood televisions-shows such as ABC’s Lost and Universal Studio’s Heroes have effectively exploited transmedia, advancing the way in which films are experienced to contemporary audiences. This creates a shift in industrial and cultural conditions of convergence films. Transmedia institutions have engrossed audiences by using multiple types of platforms, both engaging current fans and increasing interest to new audiences.
In the following text I am going to answer this questions focusing on television and movies in the near future.
