“How long you figure before we save up and get the fourth wall torn out and the fourth wall-TV installed?" If I think of the future of media I remember this quotation from Ray Bradbury’s “Fahrenheit 451”. Will television remain an important part of mass media or will the Internet kill it? What role are mobile devices going to play and what about movies in 2020?
In the following text I am going to answer this questions focusing on television and movies in the near future.
First of all, I would like to go over my expectations of movies in the future:
To my mind after today’s standards - 3D and 4K- movies are going to come to a new level of entertainment. I am not talking about higher resolutions or better surround sound, but about blurring the line between the physical and the digital world. In other words, the move from watching a movie to being part of a movie. I might be wrong but who would not like to play his favorite character in a movie, interact with other characters and affect the movie’s outcome? Wireless bodysuits will make the audience feel, what their characters fee...

Motion Pictures have always had a strong influence in today’s culture, but maybe none as prevalent as Star Wars. Originating with Episode 4 A New Hope, the series boomed from 1977 to 2005 with yet another addition coming in 2015. The strongest of the series was the original trilogy episodes 4, 5, and 6, all generally released in the 1980s. As one of the strongest film francaises still today, it’s impact within the 1980s was only the tip of the iceberg. Children and adults alike still anticipate the new edition of this seemingly endless journey. If any singular film series still holds prevalence in its future decades it is Star Wars: Original Trilogy.
Technology and media have become an essential part of our everyday life. It can spark creativity and innovation, but in some cases, it can also lead to destruction. In Ray Bradbury's novel Fahrenheit 451, the dystopian society is destroying itself due to technology and its impacts. The protagonist Guy Montag, realizes this after a fateful encounter with Clarisse McClellan and begins to doubt everything that he has ever known. The ‘idiot box’ (typically known as television) is the leading cause of corruption in the society of Fahrenheit 451 because it is developing at a dangerous rate, it limits human interaction, and it brainwashes minds.
“The biggest mistake we have made is to consider that films are primarily a form of entertainment. The film is the greatest medium since the invention of movable type for exchanging ideas and information, and it is no more at its best in light entertainment than literature is at its best in the light novel.” - Orson Welles

In this article, Jones discusses the marginalization of motion pictures, yet touches on the great aspects of film, and how these aspects can expect to survive in the future. Motion Picture Industry Analysis The motion picture industry is bigger than ever with more stories and storytelling mediums coming into studios. Filmmakers are creatively finding new ways to tell these tales through technology and new talents and bring them to audiences. Although there are many different viewing choices available to audiences, Christopher Dodd, CEO of the Motion Picture Association of America, stated, “…cinema remains the premier way to experience the magic of movies” (MPAA, 2016, p. 3, para. 5). Additionally, theater owners are investing in better sounds, screens and special effects to bring these movies to life.
The 1990s have been a significant time for film and video. Nineteen ninety-five was the one-hundredth birthday of the movies (Film theory and criticism, 1985). In 1996 the movie Independence Day became the fastest and largest grossing movie of all time, replacing Jurassic Park (1994) at the top of the list (Film theory and criticism, 1985). Video stores have proved that they are here to stay, so much so that now all feature films are made in such a way that they can be easily adapted to both video and television.
Its ever-growing environment, new technologies and techniques are being developed every second. Film has captivated my main focus and has driven me to accomplish my goal in working for this particular industry in my near future. Media has intrigued me throughout my whole life and I have wondered at previous marvels of cinematic creativity and always felt driven to make my own mark on the Filming and Television industry. I believe that I belong in the future of the media industry as a person who has a creative streak and good judgment, I am driven to work in an industry where I will be able to vision ideas and being able
...n able to reach otherwise. With unlimited possibilities and the creative minds in the world, the film industry is likely to consider seeing drastic changes. Like the world has in the past, peoples’ likes and dislikes will change with the ever-changing technological world. What we enjoy as a society in 2005 is likely to be considered as bland as we consider the black and white silent films, in the years to come.
Convergence within the television industry has allowed for a personalized TV experience coupled with convenient entertainment; which is available to consumers through their mobile devices. Although the television industry has been around since the late 1800s, it has had to adapt over the years to the changing technological world of its audience. Many advancements had been made within the TV industry which ranges from images of black and white to color, the need for convergence as new technology are invented and the improvement of programing contents like the shift of radio talk shows to the showing of movies on TV (Turow, 2013). The idea of convergence is the ability to be able to have access to different types of media on multiple digital platforms (Turow 2013), has essentially enabled easy access to one’s instant media gratification. As the internet became easily accessible to almost every American household it simultaneously led to an
...is going to come a long very shortly that will completely change the way we view films. The studios are already headed in that direction and it will not take long until such an innovation is authorized and created. With the amount of piracy on the Internet, it is hard to tell what will be the result of the actions taken by the film industry and motion picture association. There is still much to be discovered, and much to be created. It is up to the filmmakers of tomorrow to decide if they will embrace this newfound marketing tool or go on with the traditions of those before them. But they must realize that the technology will not go away and it will continue to be a part of the industry. It will be better to explore and understand this new medium rather than be ignorant to the power that it holds. This is something that will inevitably have to be decided upon soon.
Movies are one of the innumerable varieties of media that are utilized to display information. They might be exercised for numerous purposes depending on their designated audience. Regardless of the genre, all films must employ some organizational structure. Specifically, when evaluating all genres under the topic of fiction, there are vital parts that must be incorporated in order for that particular story to be successful. Although it may appear that there are a great deal of components to composing a successful movie story, the core elements that must be utilized to produce a compelling and fascinating movie story are: characters, plot, theme, and a setting.
Analyzing film has been around since the making of movies in the early 1900s. Here in the United States film really blossomed in the 1920’s. Production of films started on the West Coast in Hollywood. The earliest films were organized into genres or types, with storylines, settings, costumes, and characters (Dirks, 2010).
