Travelers Thali House, so named for the vegetarian dishes popular in India, brings world-class Indian cuisine to the Pacific Northwest in its eatery oozing with charm and personality. Chaats, small plates inspired by Indian street food, make for great appetizers, such as the chopped samosa pastries slathered in chickpea gravy and spices. Chang- Rae Lee's Magical Dinners includes many personal stories regarding his everyday life, but especially capitalizes on the many struggles with food his mother faces on a daily basis. Lee expresses his family’s drastic lifestyle change as foreigners moving to a new country by using preparation and consumption of food to symbolize those challenges and changes. Lee’s mother is the most affected by the move to New York, and that can be shown through her cooking. The only thing that Lee's mother has power over is cooking for her family, but she is unable to take control over that task due to her difficulties reading the instructions for recipes or cannot find the right ingredients.

Dave Thomas an American restaurateur and a philanthropist once said, “It all comes back to the basic. Serve customers the best-tasting food at a good value in a clean, comfortable restaurant, and they'll keep coming back.” (thomas). Everyone can agree on Dave Thomas, but I have a couple more criteria to add to his idea of a great successful restaurant. If I go out to eat I might as well pick a place that, though may be expensive, has scrumptious food because why bother going to spend money on food you can make yourself? A great restaurant has to meet three of my criteria’s: the Décor and atmosphere, impeccable service and cleanliness, and most importantly the food.

This fast food restaurant has its arms wrapped around a large demographic do to its large food proportions, great tasting food, and comfortable atmosphere. This is one of the most ideal things to bring in to Brownstown. The allocation of Panda Express to the people of Brownstown would only bring more people to the town as well as envelop its people in good tasting food.
Deloria, with his analytical survey, Indians in Unexpected Places, recounts the synthesis of western white expectations, and American Indians. The book takes its title from the general thesis, which explores not only the relationship between Indians and their introduction into an alien culture, but also the expectations that we have of Indians and how they “should” interact with our white western culture. According to Deloria, the common notion is that, “Indian people, corralled on isolated and impoverished reservations, missed out on modernity- indeed, almost missed out of history itself.” (Deloria p. 6) This falsified expectation that we have of the Native American peoples causes us to balk at the anomalies of an Indian when combined with Western culture.

Naipaul’s A House for Mr. Biswas is a story of Indian Hindu migrants whose grand-parents have been migrated in Trinidad and Tobago as indentured labourers on the sugarcane estates and started living there permanently. Two families have been described particularly in the novel in the main plot. One is Mohun Biswas’s family and other one is Tulsi family in Arwacas. Hindu rituals, rites and customs have been criticized in the novel at many places. Mr. Biswas tragic Hindu life starts when he was a mere child. According to Cudjoe, “Given the Hindu sensibility that informs the text, Mr. Biswas’s tragic dimension can be perceived as poetic necessity. (Cudjoe 74) When Mr. Biswas’ father drowns in the pond and subsequently dies in an effort to find his son in the pond, then this family loses the respect which is reserved to Hindu Brahmins. They eat food in Sadhu’s house as per Hindu rituals. Biswas’ family belonged to a Hindu Brahmin family and as per Hindu customs the garlic and even onion is not used in their food as it is considered a tamasik bhojan; then how this family eats the meat served to them and there is not mentioning of any resistance or reluctance of non-vegetarianism by any of the member of family. They eat non-vegetarian food there. It is only Mr. Biswas who feels nauseated and vomits all the food:
