Most of research available on Leadership Styles of Project Management has been conducted in a usual business environment instead of project based environment and much of that research has been negative to the Transformational aspect of leading teams (Keegan 612). The Transformational Style of Leadership, also referred to as ‘visionary’ or ‘charismatic’ leader is pro-active, ethical, flexible, innovative and tries to shake up the organization by transformation of highly qualified and motivated team members into stronger, knowledgeable and confident technical team members. The International Journal of Project Management, contains several articles on Transformational Leadership but does not contain studies on the effect of transformational leaders have on the success of the assigned project. In volume 22 of 2004, Anne E Keegan and Deanne N. Den Hartog conducted a study of transformational Leadership on the success of projects and how effective the are in successfully completing projects on time and according to specs. The study clarified a few aspects PM leadership in that it shows that transformational leaders tend to have members that are more satisfied, challenged, motivated and are more likely to exert extra effort (Keegan 610).
