Charismatic leadership is also known to have a large effect on their followers emotionally. In regards to a charismatic leader, Northouse (2013) stated that "the personality characteristics of a charismatic leader include being dominant, having a strong desire to influence others, being self-confident, and having a strong sense of one 's own moral values" (p. 188). Followers develop a loyalty to charismatic leaders because they can see themselves in the leader and they become emotionally involved in them, these factors tend to make it difficult for them to question them or their ideas. Many times followers of charismatic leaders look to the leader as a guide to help with different situations or problems they may be currently experiencing.

The variety of spectrums that are included in transformational leadership means that is difficult to define the limits, also the transformational leadership theory can not be applied to every situation or even every field (Lynch, 2015; Northouse, 2013). The measuring factors of transformational leadership have also been questions (Northouse, 2013). While the model focuses on the roles of both the leader and the subordinate, it has also been criticized as being more focused on praise of leader and less on the input of subordinates (Northouse, 2013; Yang, 2014). There are also very few studies that approaches to transformational leadership that study it from the point of view of the followers need (Kovjanic et al., 2013). It has also been thought that transformational leadership regards leadership as something that cannot be learned, which makes it an approach that is more difficult to actually apply and teach (Northouse, 2013). Therefore, the qualities of transformational leadership make the essence of transformational management and the key to successful management of transformational organizational changes.

Charismatic leaders are individuals who seem to inspire others. There are all types of charismatic leaders; some people may deem what they do as evil and others may hold a different opinion. There are some leaders that are seen as saviors, coming along at the right moment when all hope is lost. There are other leaders that people slander their names with the word ‘Murder’. In the end it all depends on which side a follower is on. Jim Jones, Martin Luther King Jr. , and Gandhi were some of the most remember charismatic leaders in history. though very different in what they preach. Then there is the most iconic charismatic leader of all and he goes by many names: Allah, the Almighty, but many know him as Jesus.

Firstly , transformational leadership delivers the charisma to be a leader in order to gain respect and trust. Secondly, the characteristics of a leader show efforts to change a purpose of the transformation process and to effectively communicate. For example, if one of my team members has no belief in me to lead the group, my attitude towards the group and the member will change as they have shown a lack of confidence and interest in teamwork. There are many leadership theories that play an important role in the every day workforce. Some of the theories are successful in producing a strong and productive leader, while others lack the qualities required for the job. Out of the multitude of available theories out there, I feel that the Transformational Leadership Theory is the one that stands out as being the most successful. This theory is far from coercive and instead focuses on making a satisfied team that collaborates to form a productive work environment. An environment like this, ran by a top-notch leader, is needed for success.

According to McLaurin & Al Amri (2008) charismatic leaders can be defined as those who have a high self confidence, a clear vision, engage in unconventional behavior and action as a change agent, and while remaining realistic about environmental constraints. When you hear the names President Bill Clinton, Martin Luther King Jr., Mother Theresa, Adolf Hitler or Larry Ellison; whether or not one can categorize their leadership style, most people are familiar with the effect that these leaders have had on society or business. Another aspect of leadership includes leadership traits such as being influential and inspirational. There also different contexts of leadership, e.g, leading oneself, leading other individuals, leading groups, leading organizations. Some traits that are often associated with being an effective leader include a measure of intelligence, high energy, self confidence, dominance, and a need for achievement. An effective, charismatic leader must lead by example. That leader must be able to know what is going on, the job or task that is being accomplished, and be able to lead the group into performing the task at hand successfully.
