A school resource center or known as the school library is a place where students and teachers, even the staffs can access variety of resources. However, it is not limited by only providing them the resources or materials that they need. A school resource center plays many roles in all kinds of ways or perspectives. This means that the school teachers are also involved where collaboration between the librarian and the teachers exists.
The first role of a school resource center is, supporting the teaching and learning of the institution or school. It supports by providing them the materials or resources that they need. Students are able to borrow books or other materials from the school library and refer to them to complete their homeworks or projects. Teachers are also able to borrow the materials from the library such as maps, pictures, books, globes and other interesting materials that will make learning more fun and exciting. Teachers will use those to aid their teaching in class. Besides materials, the library also provides learning infrastructure or facilities that are crucial to learning and teaching success. Furthermore, the school resource center supports teaching and learning by organizing programs such as computer classes or courses, ‘Program Nilam’, and so on. A quality library program will be able to help the students in their education achievement. Computer classes or courses will train the students to use the computer so that they are able to learn the basic skills of using a computer. This is to teach them at the early age to broaden their knowledge about technologies so that they’ll be able to apply their skills in the future. Moreover, ‘Program Nilam’ can support the teaching and learning of the school by encourag...

...on and couldn’t give the best resources to aid them in their studies. Plus, the resources will be irrelevant to them and the teachers. Furthermore, the school resource center’s resources are not only of materials but also equipment. Equipment is also an important part of the resources in the library. Examples of the equipment are VCR/DVD, overhead projectors, LCD projectors, CD players, audio equipment, cameras and more. These are important for the process of teaching and learning, especially for the teachers where they need to use the projectors for teaching if they want to make the teaching fun and lively. Therefore, without the school resource center it is impossible to foster the development of deep knowledge because only through the availability of resources from the library, can there be rich information that is useful for the students’ education achievements.
The Greenhill Community Center was a multi-service center in Coastal City. Its main purpose was to provide human service programs for various factors throughout life with an intergenerational setting. Some of these included day care, elder programs, music classes, and afterschool programs. It was founded in 1982 and was set up in an old schoolhouse. In short, this community center could use some help.
Our current project, "The W.J. Bryan Primary Learning Center", under construction, is located a block away from the main building, to house a pre-k and eight kindergarten classes. In addition, an administrator, lead teacher, cafeteria, and complete office staff will staff the new center. Its doors are scheduled to open to staff, students, and parents in April, 1998.
Centers throughout the classroom will be set up to promote further understanding and creativity of their own communities and the communities of others. The centers will also be organized so that the students will be able to recognize the differences of people and be able to show respect towards all people. To start off the unit, the students will bring in a picture of their families and there will be a map of the city which shows the different neighborhoods and the students will place their family picture in their neighborhood. The map will be hung in the classroom so the students can see the different neighborhoods their classmates come from. o

...racy skills to function as adults, and we have a responsibility to our students to help them acquire those skills. We need to improve our weak characteristics of our campus and continue to use our strengths to develop new programs that will benefit our students’ abilities. If given the chance to improve my campus’s literacy programs, I would do whatever it took to make it a success and I would use multiple resources to find answers to questions that I could not answer. I would bring all these things together to make an after school literacy program a success.

Collaborating with the school administration team, I was able to gain suffice information about the needs of the school as well as the needs from the community. I was given information about the academic needs of the students as well as the school’s improvement plan, which consists of the school needs assessment. Analyzing the needs assessment and test score data, there is a need for academic improvement is needed in the content areas of English-Language Arts and Math. The school is in need of strategies to improve scores in these areas, but the community can play an integral part in helping to provide the necessary resources, tools, and materials to enhance student learning in these areas. This could be established by community-school partnerships, if the school effectively communicates to the community their need for academic assistance. This can be achieved at PTO meetings, school activities, and local colleges or universities.

When building a classroom, the indoor learning environment will be influenced by the building and play area that surrounds the building. A classroom needs to have adequate space for children to play, explore and learn. Children need to have continuous access to water, bathrooms and a sink for handwashing. Although each room or center will be different they need to maintain areas that are easily and safely supervised from all areas of the classroom. The space needs to be organized into learning centers with well-defined areas. Areas such as science, art, sensory, bathrooms and eating areas need to be near a water source. Other areas such as block areas, library and housekeeping should be kept in areas with large area rugs or carpet.
