I know believing in God helps me heal and makes my faith much stronger. Believing in a higher also gives me hope that things will turn out the way they should. It can make your life much calmer and happier. Emotional wellness is important because it builds “trust, self-esteem, self-acceptance, self-confidence, and self-control” (Fatcow, 2016), Being able to build all these traits within oneself can help one cope with problems they may have and find solutions for them. Being aware of your emotional state will help encourage, and motivate you to strive and do your best in your life. We must know how we feel in every situation and we must know how to react and deal with our emotions and never let the negative emotions have power over our life. Mental wellness is important because “it provides a foundation to discover, process, and evaluate information” (Fatcow, 2016). Mental wellness can give one a sense of humor bringing happiness and laughter to their life. Having a clear mind can make it a lot easier when making decisions in my life. There must be balance, to achieve optimum wellness. Making sure I have enough sleep, incorporating meditation to my life, and staying healthy, by eating right and exercising can give me a well lifestyle. Every life matters, so we must make it matter by making changes to our lives. Mindfulness has a lot to do with balancing out our lives. Mindfulness means that we must take time out of our day to “sit, stand, or lie down and focus on the breath, bodily sensations, sounds, other senses, or thoughts and emotions” (Stahl & Goldstein, 2010). Wellness is imperative to a healthy life. Sometimes, people do not really consider what makes up wellness, they simply think of it as being “well”. Wellness may be a state of being “well”, however, it incorporates different areas such as nutrition, health, safety, nurturing, and emotional stability. Well-being is a combination of physical, mental, emotional and social factors. It is seen, as a stable state of being satisfied with one’s self and their life that doesn’t fluctuate due to a single even, person, or feeling (Begley and Begun, 2000). Well-being consists of eight dimensions, emotional, environmental, financial, intellectual, occupational, physical, social and spiritual (Begley and Begun, 2000). For the purpose of this study we are going to be looking at the emotional and occupational sides of well-being. Emotional state of well being is the ability to recognize, understand and express a full range of emotions and channel our emotions into healthy behaviours that satisfy our personal and social goals (Ryff, 1985). Occupational is achieving personal satisfaction and enrichment in one’s life through work, education, and personal goals and passions (Ryff, 1985).
Growing up in a church community and Christian family affects my spiritual wellness greatly. It helps with my beliefs and what I think is important in life. My spiritual wellness is pretty good as I keep going to church and making my spiritual wellness better and stronger. Everything that I have learned from God’s word helps me in my everyday walk with God and my spiritual wellness.
The second dimension of wellness is emotional wellness, which has a lot to do with you ability to recognize your own thoughts and feelings and deal with them in a healthy way. There are a lot of ways to do this, such as: understanding and sharing your thoughts and feelings with yourself and those around you, and being confident in your self and the decisions you make. Some well known people who I believe have attained emotional wellness include Ellen DeGeneres and Doctor Phil.
First and foremost, mental harmony is important for an individual because it allows for greater mental stability. Socrates believes that “to produce health is to establish the natural elements in a body in the natural relation of being dominate and dominated by one another, while to cause disease… (is to be) contrary to nature” (Plato, Republic, 444c-d). Thus, not only is mental harmony important for one’s own personal piece of mind and growth, but it is necessary in order to live a healthy and worthwhile

Knowing what each of these dimensions of wellness requires can feel overwhelming. However, one should not be discouraged because of what they lack, but look forward to the improvement we are capable of bringing to our own lives. Becoming more spiritual will always be beneficial. Anytime one can improve their relationship with God one can improve their life astronomically. Emotional wellness is possible even for those who have been through horrible experiences. Practicing emotional wellness can bring healing. Physical and nutritional wellness will lead to a longer, pleasanter life and social wellness will make that life worth living. Sharing a well life with family, friends, and God will make time on this earth an irreplaceable experience.
Spiritual health is the one that gather me through life. Spiritual health helps me to overcome obstacles in life. I take my religion every seriously, I pray five times a day and belief in high power. Spiritual health helps me with my self-esteem and decreases my anxiety. I scored moderate in intellectual, professional, emotional, and social health. According to the text, wellness is defined as an "integrated and dynamic level of functioning oriented toward maximizing potential, dependent on self-responsibility." It involves both preventive health behaviors and a shift in thinking and attitude. Wellness is a lifelong promise to oneself of growth and achievement in each of the seven dimensions: emotional, spiritual, physical, occupational, intellectual, environmental, and social. It means a lifetime of ongoing change and always striving toward higher levels healthy and successful living. This means, ultimately, that one must live a life that caters to each of those dimensions both individually and collectively. Not living a healthy lifestyle, can have damaging effects on both health and life, and not only yours but the people that are around you. An unhealthy lifestyle means more illness and more expenses to treat those illnesses. This means a bigger burden on an already challenged and over-budgeted healthcare system. Poor health also means more time lost at work, less quality recreational time, and shorter lifespans. Not to mention, the onset of major chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and cancer.
Research of brainwaves implies that meditation can definitely improve health insurance and wellness of the person. Neuroscientists discovered that individuals who meditate can change the mind activity to various regions of the mind. This type of change lessens the results of anxiety and stress. For this reason this type of person more happy and calmer than ever before.
This is the acknowledgment that quality of life/well-being has both objective components which are the components external to an individual and measurable by ‘others’ and subjective components which are personal assessments of one’s own life or of particular aspects of life using measures of satisfaction, happiness, or other self-assessment scales.
