The book tangerine is about a boy who goes through many hardships throughout his move to Tangerine, Florida. Although he experiences many problems in the book, eventually they all fix themselves. This is why the theme of the book is “Everything will sort itself out”. An example of this is when Paul’s school sank in a sinkhole. He was offered the choice to go to a new school where he knew he would be happier. Another example is the death of Luis, although this is a bad thing, eventually there was a tree planted in his memory. This theme is important to me because to me it means that there is no reason to give up because if I try, everything will come out at least kind of how I want it to be. One example from my past is when I broke my leg.
The 2006 fictional novel, “Tangerine” written by Edward Bloor is about the mystery of Paul’s eyes and the secrets to unlocks the truth behind Paul’s vision. Edward Bloor uses Paul’s eyesight to show the understanding of the character's family and friends. It shows his viewpoint on things and how Paul sees his problems. Through the motif of vision Paul, the main character, grows his understanding on his friends, family, and himself.
...gs. One of these things is that no matter what happens, there is always a positive outcome available, even if we need to work to find it. Remembering this theme will remind me that no matter how bleak things look, there is always a way for things to get better. It will also encourage me to work harder to discover this way, which will encourage me to work harder even in normal situations.
In many parts of the poem, Guest uses metaphors to show the strength that one should always keep while facing their troubles. He tells his readers to "Lift your chin and square your shoulders, plant your feet and take a brace" to prepare for whatever could be ahead (lines 2-3). Even through the metaphor "Black may be the clouds above you" which gives a clear perception of difficult and hopeless moments that might be surrounding an individual, it is still better than running since it "will not save you" (lines 8-11). It is throughout the poem that Guest has used many metaphors to remind his readers about the facing the problems that will lie ahead. It is even pointed at points, such as, "You may fail, but fall fighting" to remind the reader that not all problems can be confronted. However, the author suggests that with a person's body language, like standing tall, could become a resolve. With these metaphorical commands, it gives the reader the feeling of a solider or fighter that is preparing to face an enemy. This is also further emphasized from his use of repetition. Guest repeats the figurative phrase, "See it through" to show the reader to overcome the toughest or most hopeless of problems. It is also from this statement that he suggests to go keep going no matter what since in the end it is possible that one can succeed. Becoming the clearest and most encouraging phrase and title of the poem, Guest has made the distinction of his theme to overcome everything that one can in order to achieve the best for one's
Theme: The theme of the story is that sometimes in life you have to make sacrifices, big or small, to help things that are more important then what benefits you more. This is shown plenty of times throughout the story, but the most important time was when Sadie had to choose to save her father, or stop Set and...
In Tangerine Paul may be blind physically but he can see what his parents’ and the townspeople can’t. Paul, a middle school student and the main character, is physically blind and is looking for answers from the past. Erik, Paul's big brother, is a superstar football kicker and bully who is driven by anger and frustration. Their parents are struggling with the secrets from the past and the effect that they have on the family and the families future. Tangerine county in Florida has the well off town of Lake Windsor, where the Fisher family lives, and the poorer town of Tangerine. The author Edward Bloor utilizes blindness to symbolize how Paul may be visually impaired but can see social injustice, while Erik and his
The book Tangerine is about a seventh grader named Paul, who moves from Texas with his family to Tangerine County, Florida and begins a new life. Paul is sick of everyone falling hook, line, and sinker for the deceiving illusion that Erik, his football playing brother, is a perfect, wonderful person instead of the cold-hearted thief and killer he is. Throughout the novel, Paul becomes friends with his soccer teammates at his new school and slowly begin to adapt to his new environment and home. Along the way, Paul tries to remember the accident that damaged his eyes and the truth changes his life forever. In Tangerine, Edward Bloor wisely uses flashback and symbolism to convey growth and change.
“It Alex doesn’t come I’ll need to generate a plan of my own”(Oliver 422). This shows the theme because she would have never wanted to fall in love with a guy even after she was cured but she did anyways because she loved him. This is important because, if she had never fallen in love with Alex, none of this would have happened and she would have gotten cured without worrying about what Alex is doing and whether he will come to her when she’s being cured.
Have you ever had a disease that has killed thousands of people worldwide have you had to give up everything to go to the hospital and give up your friday nights? I think that in the book “Drums, Girls, And Dangerous Pie”is the theme always be brave because the theme shows up in the whole book. In “Drums, Girls, And Dangerous Pie” a kid named Jeffrey is going through leukemia and is struggling to survive the battle with leukemia while his brother Steven is going through tough times at school while dealing with the stress of his parents while his dad is struggling financially.
“Learn from the past, live in present, prepare for the future.” I can personally relate to this theme because, believe me, I have made numerous mistakes, most of which resulted in my phone getting taken away. Instead of getting down about it, I learned from those mistakes and was able to correct them in my future. This was a major benefit because now I get my phone taken away a lot less compared to how many times I used to have phone taken away in the past. This was a theme often shown in The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen. In the book, Dessen used characters as symbols to express the importance of each character. Throughout the book all the characters had experienced heart wrenching, and emotionally tragic events; on the flip side, they
“What was orange became whitish orange.” When hope is lost in life it can become very difficult to see the positives and not just the negatives that may occur. In the novel Life of Pi by Yann Martel, the main protagonist Pi, undergoes a challenging part in his life, that takes courage and survival skills to hold onto the little strand of hope he has left. The author displays hope in the symbolism of the colour orange, which is portrayed in the survival objects, the animals and the sun, which Pi explores whilst trying to survive aboard his lifeboat.
The Restorative theme allows me to find problems in relationships, technology, and my personal development and fix them. I mostly prefer to work alone, and when I start something I do not want to get up until the job is done. I like to try new things, that sometimes put me in uncomfortable situations, so that I can better myself. I believe it is just as important to know my weaknesses, so that I can try to build them up to make them become strengths.
A theme for the martian chronicles is, don’t let the past rule the present. The meaning of this theme is what has happened, has already happened and you shouldn’t let it take over what you do now. This is a theme because in the martian chronicles there are many times that people have the chance to go on living without the past, but instead to continue in the past.
I feel the most accurate description of this theme is that I love to seek out problems and to find the answers to them.
...destination. Our setbacks are part of our path and destiny. Take your failure as a measure of your commitment to your vision. For example, Martin Luther King had “a dream” – that and only that pulled him through all his failures! Get comfortable with smaller steps. As they say: “If you fall off a horse, try to get on a pony.”
In my life time I have accomplished many extraordinary tasks that I’ve put my mind too. I discovered that my signature themes have greatly affected the methods that I use to complete these tasks. People use their strengths in everyday life as well as in crucial, life changing situations. Important self-building achievement is one factor that makes people who they are. Another is the way that people apply there strengths to different situations.
