The patient was more beautiful than she realized. If only she could see it for herself. The color from her dainty face had drained to a sickened green tint and her eyes widened in fear. The walls of the clinic exam room were ordained in calming colors, but offered the young woman no comfort. She continued to blink rapidly as if she would awaken from the nightmare; her long eyelashes could not fan the health worker’s words away. She thought it was harmless, just a night of fun. It made her feel valuable and attractive. Yet being desired now left her alone, crumpling to the floor screaming between sobs and desperately reaching to the empty air around her. She couldn’t grasp any security. Not only did that harmless night of fun result in her becoming …show more content…
(CDC) Casual sex is never just casual but rather a game of Russian roulette with bullets of emotional damage, unplanned pregnancies and sexually transmittable disease. Most people are deluded, believing that casual sex is emotionally safe when it is not. These views claim that there is no commitment to the partner, therefore lacking intimacy. Details of personality, family, an individual’s life and how an individual reacts to a situation are not communicated. It would seem to be difficult to become emotionally involved, which could easily cause the person to be vulnerable to stress and heartache. After all, with no emotional ties the individual can’t be emotionally hurt. If a problem does arise there are no commitments so the partner can easily be abandoned. However, this is not true. Sex always equals emotional bindings and even so called casual sex therefore creates emotional damage. Scientifically, the act of sex stimulates receptive nerves in the …show more content…
Many people would say this issue is easily solved; simply have an abortion at the cost of tax payers hard earned money. However, it was not the tax payer that made an irresponsible choice and they should not bare the finances. Also, abortion can cause major health problems and infertility. Most mothers to be later state they suffer depression due to the loss of the child. That’s fine many say, there are other options. Better yet, if you keep the child there is a plethora of assistance options yielded by the government. These opinions have not considered the true responsibility and hardships of parenting, especially young or single parenting. While there are helpful programs for childcare, food assistance and even housing, these programs cannot raise a child for the next eighteen years. Rather, they are to supplement during times of hardship and poverty. For the next eighteen years, the parent is now legally responsible for any mental, emotional and physical needs of the child. When such needs are neglected, government agencies investigate and are the legal authority one must answer to. Rearing a child properly requires an extraordinary amount of self-sacrificing. Financial provisions such as a proper home, food, water and clothing are staples in needs requiring a parent to work. The child’s health results in co pays, medications, and other medical bills. Arrangements for child care and
Diane Urban, for instance, was one of the many people who were trapped inside this horror. She “was comforting a woman propped against a wall, her legs virtually amputated” (96). Flynn and Dwyer appeal to the reader’s ethical conscience and emotions by providing a story of a victim who went through many tragedies. Causing readers to feel empathy for the victims. In addition, you began to put yourself in their shoes and wonder what you would do.
For generations sex has been a part of our culture. It used to be that sex was a sacred thing reserved for marriage. It still is; however, it is a much less of a common find today, especially among teens and younger adults. This is a problem physically, mentally and emotionally. ‘Hooking up’ ‘one-night stand’ ‘sex with no strings attached’ is the act of having sexual relations that are supposed to mean nothing and are a ‘one time’ thing. Or as it was described in “Hookups and Sexual Regret Among College Women.” “a sexual encounter, usually lasting only one night, between two people who are strangers or brief acquaintances” (Eshbaugh) Yet the hookup culture is swiftly destroying our generation’s view on love, happiness, love, and relationships. Our generation is being left unprepared, unhappy, and unloved as the hookup culture consumes us; making our world a darker and emptier place.
Being a mother is a lifelong job that requires copious time, energy, and money. There are myriad different reasons in which a woman would consider getting an abortion. The decision is often tragic and painful for the mother. It is one of the biggest choices a woman will make. Many people have strong beliefs about abortion, and if a mother makes a decision that they do not agree with they sometimes turn against the mother, and enkindle egregious feelings about their decision for the rest of their life. Indeed a woman may not get an abortion for selfish reasons or out of convenience, but out of a desire to protect certain important values such as her own health or a decent standard of living for the other members of the family. Additional intentions for having abortion include rape, financial difficulties, obligation by family members, or danger to the baby’s health (Roleff
Aging is a complex process; it revolves around many changes in a person’s life, whether they are physical, psychological, or social. One important aspect that changes while aging is an individual’s sexual development. An individual’s sexuality and need for intimacy are often noted to be very important for their well being and can determine how well a person will continue to live and age. Sexuality though, is often ignored in certain stages of life, especially in late adulthood. Often time’s the reason for that is that society constructs these ideas that sexual intimacy in late adulthood (ages 65 and over) is not important and that individuals lose interest and their ability in it. They believe that humans become asexual creatures, whose intimacies needs are not to be met. Sexuality in late adulthood is in turn very important and can determine whether or not the person gets that sense of intimacy needed for a healthy living. It is important for society to get rid of those misconceptions and educate themselves about the specific challenges and rewards sexuality may bring to the elderly.
THERE’s much more to sex than the genitals, seeing someone bare or even the most common goal of sex – an orgasm. Sex experts will tell you that sex is intimacy; it is opening yourselves to spiritual mingling, exposing and exploring your sexual desires. But these are sometimes hindered by social constructions of sexual behaviour – the taboos, the myths and misinformation can sometimes make something as natural as sex very complex.
The text, Hooked: New Science on How Casual Sex is Affecting Our Children was written in 2008, by Joe S. McIlhaney, Jr. and Freda McKissic-Bush and published by Northfield Publishing. The topic of sex has always been a hard to explain topic, especially for adults, when it comes to discussing sex to their children; however, this text easily discusses sex in a way that makes it easy for anyone to understand the reasons behind why we want to have sex, how our behavior is related to the brain and sexual response, how our views of sex change based on the growing of our bodies (puberty), and how sexual relationships may truly affect our inner-selves and future relationships with future partners. There are three ways to break down this book:
Hooking is replacing dating with casual sexual encounters, the purpose of the study is to find out if hooking up is becoming this new norm, and what the consequences of this will be on both men and women. The practice of hooking up is not new it first started happening more often after the baby boomers and the sexual revolution. Where birth control was easier to access.
Another issue is when the mother is too young to have a child. The abortion rate in Canada for being too young is 11%. (Why Woman Choose Abortion , n.d.) “Teenagers who become mothers have grim prospects for the future. They are much more likely to leave of school; receive inadequate prenatal care; rely on public assistance to raise a child; develop health problems; or end up divorced”. (Arguments For and Against Abortion, 2009) This quote explains the major problems that can occur when being too young for such a responsibility. If the mother were to leave school before she finished this could result in obtaining a poor job, which can effect the babies home life due to inadequate funds. Not only would it effect the baby’s life, but it can negatively impact the mother’s life too. At a young age, it is also hard for the father to accept such a responsibility and can even end up not wanting to support it. This relationship problem can cause other problems like stress at home or more work for the mother. If the young mother has this issue, she will not be able to have the proper support to work on her education or even

First of all Abortion has and is a complicated problem in Americans culture and politics (ProQuest). This means that there are always different sides and different circumstances. Some people think that if they have a bad life they don’t want their child. Well I believe that person should still have the baby but give it up if you don’t think you’re ready to raise a kid
There is over 1.2 million women who have abortion to end pregnancy in the united states. Some of the reason that woman considered using this method is the fact that their birth control has failed and there are not ready to become a parent yet. Most of the time finance is a major issue due to the fact that most of the women have children and cannot afford to add another child into their life or the partner doesn’t want another child. Another issues that young girls face is the fact that they have no social support or their living with their parents and know that they cannot take care of a child due to the fact that they don’t take care of themselves. Another factor that can cause others to have an abortion is the fact they the unborn child can have some type of birth defect or medical problem. Some individuals
The reason that many students find casual sex appealing is the fact that it is wrong. We as human beings find the danger of doing some thing wrong intriguing. We are animals and are always testing our limits. Sex is an explored subject that is hushed as we are children growing up. We are taught that is not to be talked about and that we should always have boundaries before we practice this interesting, yet provocative action. As college students we are free from all authority and we tend to explore these new actions. Our animal instincts kick in and we are soon experiencing new emotions and feelings that we end up succumbing to under different circumstances. We explore all the different things that we are shunned away from as children and are able to do so without any authority telling us other wise. Our boundaries are set free and then we are dealt with the choice of emotional sex or casual sex. Most people do not see the emotional side of sex until they become older. As college s...
In 2011, 112 of 1,000 women below the federal poverty line experienced an unwanted pregnancy, an estimated 32, 101 pregnancies result from rape each year, sometimes during pregnancy a genetic mutation that may significantly decrease the child’s quality of life may be predictable, childbirth may endanger the life of the mother, and sometimes, one must question simply whether the environment that a child will be brought into is suitable, i.e. poverty, abusive homes, drug environments, foster care etc. All of these elements must be considered to determine what might be best for the majority. Though it seems to be a common misconception that abortions are both an easy decision and easily accessible, the decision is not so simple. Finding a place that does abortions is extremely difficult, especially in Texas, and they are often very expensive and can include a number of health risks. In addition to this, for low-income mothers, the time off work necessary to undergo a full abortion may not be easy, or even possible, to
In some cases women may not feel like they are ready to take on such a huge responsibility of being a mother. Bringing a baby into this world unwanted can cause a lot of issues for both the mother and child. In fact, unplanned pregnancies’ can result birth defects, low birth weight, maternal depression, and the list goes on.(procon.org) If the mother is not mental and/or physically able to care for the child she should have the right to decide on what she wants to do regarding the unborn baby. Although, 49% of all pregnancies are unintended (procon.org) and in some cases the child may grow up in a healthy living environment, and has a stable home but others are not so
Whether this is due to mental issues, poverty, or an unsafe environment. According to the Alan Guttmacher Institute, a research and policy organization focused on reproductive health and rights, 25% of abortions are due to a mother who cannot afford to financially support themselves and their child. An opposition might say that if the mother can not take care of their child, then the mother can simply put their child up for adoption. But, with insurance, mothers still have to pay about $8,000 out of pocket, according to a 2007 study. Without insurance, like many women in lower socioeconomic environments, mothers have to pay up to $17,000, or more, out of pocket. Of course, reducing the amount of abortions is what both real Pro-Life and Pro-Choice activists would want
