Overview The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator is a personality test derived from Jungian concepts. Carl Jung included certain concepts of psychological attitudes, such as introversion versus extraversion, and psychological functions, such as intuition versus sensing and thinking versus feeling. The test produced results on my personality that I can agree with, but the lack of options was a downfall for me. However, the MBTI helped me understand certain concepts discussed in class because my results represented such concepts. This includes Jungian ideas and reliability. My Results and Discussion Regarding the MBTI The results of my personality test were the introverted, intuitive, feeling, and judging types, or INFJ. My score for introversion …show more content…
Typically, I enjoy situations with less people and become extremely uncomfortable in large crowds. This contributed to the decision of applying to private universities rather than public universities. Regarding intuition, I feel that I base things off of certain feelings rather than the senses before evaluating a situation; however, I do not believe this function dominates over sensing as much as my results would suggest. When it comes to rational function, I definitely use more emotional rationale, and I understand why the feeling function was higher than the thinking function. Finally, I structure my life to the point where it is obsessive, and I have trouble dealing with spontaneity, which explains the major difference between judging and …show more content…
Jung came up with the psychological functions represented in the test, with the exception of judging and perceiving. According to Schultz & Schultz (2013), Jung theorized that humans have capacity for all opposing attitudes and functions, such as thinking versus feeling, but one of those opposing forces dominates the ego; the others are presented in the personal unconscious (p. 93). The results of my personality showed numbers for each function, but one number was larger than the other. This suggests that one of each function dominates, but my psyche includes all of them. This test provides a visual example of this
The Myers-Briggs Type indicator is an instrument designed to measure the elements of Jungian personality theory and makes the theory of psychological type both understandable and highly practical by helping individuals identify their preferences in four areas. According to the MBTI, I have a moderate preference for Introversion, a clear preference for Sensing, a slight preference for Feeling, and a clear preference for Judging (ISFJ). In general, ISFJs are sympathetic, loyal, considerate, conscientious, and will go through any amount of trouble to help those in need (Hirsh&Kummerow,1989).
The purpose of the Myers-Briggs Personality test is to be able to determine a person’s perception of the world and how their views, beliefs and judgments affect them both in decisions they make in
My theoretical preference profile as confirmed by the Jung Briggs Meyers Personality Test is an Introvert, iNtuitive, Thinking, Judging (INTJ) individual. The results indicated percentages of 16%, 19%, 34%, and 62%, respectively.
The Myers and Briggs Analysis is a series of questions that when answered are examined and grouped together in order to determine the personalities of those taking this test. This particular test can result in sixteen different outcomes or types of personalities, which is determined by four different categories that judge if you are introverted or extroverted, use your senses or your intuition, your choice to think or use your feelings, and finally if you are judgmental or perceptive. These series of questions are designed to judge our personalities and help us to determine which career pathways we will be most suited for based on our personality traits and abilities to work well with others, which is important for our future decisions.
After taking this personality test I could not decide if I felt that my results were accurate about me or not. The personality test resulted in describing me as an extravert, intuitive, feeling, and judging (Humanmetrics,
personality type. This means introvert, sensing, thinking, and judging. It showed that I was 90%
Earth is populated by billions of people – one person different from the next. While physical traits like fingerprints and DNA give people their individual identity, there is more to identity than physical traits. The experience of tragedy and joy also plays a critical role in giving people their individual identity. Personality is the other factor that separates one person from others, and the personality of an individual depends heavily on his or her beliefs, culture, and the environment in which he or she is raised. There are several different types of personality tests that one can take to identify certain traits of his or her identity, and one of them is the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). According to MBTI and my life experience, as an ISTP I possess an inquisitive mind, an adventuresome spirit, and a desire to be active.
After the participant has taken the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), the participants are given their results (scores). The results are in form of a bar graph, as well as numbers of how they performed in form of a scale. At times, there are some cases of confusion which may result due to the confusion of the numbers leading to some similarity in the trait theory. During the preparation, another important element which should be considered is privacy. The results of a personality indicator should be limited only to the
The Myers Briggs test is a complex way of figuring out your personality type. When the Myers Briggs test gives you your personality test answers there are 4 letters that are given. There are 16 different possible types of personality. The definition of the Myers Briggs test is a “widely-used personality inventory, or test, employed in vocational, educational, and psychotherapy settings to evaluate personality type in adolescents and adults” (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator). The test is a series of questions that ask you about your daily life and how you act. It is mainly used to assess student learning style (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator).
The following information can be found in the “Results and discussion” section: “The analyses reported above show that MBTI items fail to form the factors hypothesized by the test’s authors” (Saggino, Cooper, & Kline, 2001). The information I found in this study complimented the conclusion of the other article I reviewed. They both concluded that the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator had many faults and was not reliable nor valid as far as solid science is concerned.
Throughout the beginning of this semester I have looked at how individuals behave within business organizations. Through various exercises and results, I have found a number of patterns within my behavior and interests. I have become aware what interests me, and a number of skills/abilities I was oblivious I had. This reflection and in class exercises has allowed me to expand my skills, abilities, and behaviors, well fitting them into prospective future employment.
The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) has recognized my profile as Introvert, Intuitive, Thinking and Judgment (INTJ). As an introvert, I can get nervous among other people. It does not pose a problem for an individual. On the other hand, in order to be an effective leader, it is important for me to keep a profound communicational relationship with my subordinates. Without proper communication skills, it is not possible to establish a functional relationship with my subordinates. This may jeopardize the success of any activity that we are involved in. The introvert part is perhaps the major barrier which may keep me away from being an effective leader.
The results that I have obtained from the personality assessment were: INTJ. These results identify that I am an introvert; I tend to be intuitive; I am a thinker; and that I need closures and feel the need for things to be organized or structuralized. I personally believe that the results I have obtained from this assessment truly reflects who I am. If I contemplate about it, I need to be able to grasp onto things before processing the next information, especially when people are telling me multiple things at a time. I enjoy to be myself and sometimes, around a group of other people. But, I mainly tend to study alone and stay to myself rather than engaging with other people. In addition, part of my intuitive resorts to me assuming certain things without using any sort
My personality type is Extroverted, intuitive, feeling, perceptive or ENFP. According to the description in the exercise, ENFP's are warm, enthusiastic and live their outer life more with intuition and their inner more with feeling. This assessment is consistent with the results that I received in part I of the exercise. I am an extroverted person who enjoys being around and working with people.
50% introvert, 50% Sensing, 28% Thinking and 6% of Perceiving. I do have to say that I consider myself to be more of an introvert then an extrovert. It’s just nicer to stay at home and not have to worry about other people being stupid or doing stupid things. I can do stupid things at home without people watching. I am a little confused with it saying that I am more thinking then feeling because I feel like sometimes If something feels right then I would do it but I guess more of the time If I think something is going to benefit me I will do it. It also says I am slightly more Perceiving Then Judging which I think is false. I think I judge people all of the time. Based on these results it seems like I would be much better in life if I started to come more of the life of the party. I just need to share my ideas when I think about them and not worry about what other people will think about them. These personality tests seem to be all over the board with my results. It’s almost like the IQ test what is really
