Life, such a broad yet concise topic. A multitude of different people and cultures offer different opinions on what gives life value and how to obtain satisfaction in our lives. For example, the typical “American Dream” is defined as attaining wealth and success through hard work, while many Spanish cultures consider closeness within a family a valuable trait in life. For some, happiness is all that matters. Happiness is achieved in many ways, and it doesn’t always involve money. There are many things that contribute to making a person feel happy and successful. One can feel successful without a lot of money at all. For example, feeling loved is something that makes everyone happy. Many believe that without love life is not thoroughly complete, thus never truly achieving success. Ones line of work can also affect how happy he is. Life is the ultimate value for each and every one of us. Probably the single most important thing we can do in life is to serve the purpose in which we were created. I still do not have a clear view of what my Philosophy of life is, but I do have a better understanding of the path I need to take to seek those answers and am well on my way of accomplishing this goal.
Family is a value that my father taught me. He told me that family is
The first value I chose is family. Merriam-Webster defines the word family as, "a group of people who are related to each other”. However, to me personally, I feel that family is way more than just your relatives. Family has been a huge influence in why I’m in college today and has taught me right from wrong. Family is so important to me because they thought me how to build relationships with other people, how to love, how to get, always have my back no matter what, and know me the so well. Merriam-Webster defines the word health as, “the condition of being well or free from disease”. Health is very more important to me because I want to live a longer life and it helps me become more energetic when carrying out home/work tasks. Merriam-Webster defines the word knowledge as “information, understanding, or skill that you get from experience”. Knowledge is significant to me because it helps me have a better understanding of the world and how things works. Without knowledge, we as a society could not accomplish much in life. Knowledge is a key factor in every field because it helps us humans make ethical decisions. Merriam-Webster defines the word happiness as “the state of being happy”. I believe Happiness makes life seem si...
During everyone 's lifetime, there is always something we hold closest to our hearts; it maybe our principles we live by, values, and even our own beliefs. Values are those things that are very important to us but never really realize how much we actually value them in our life. Have you ever been asked to define three of your main values and rip them up? I have and I never noticed how much they meant to me. Each and every one of us believes in our own personal values. These values are what gives us strength and strive us to do what makes us happy. These values are very important to us and are standards that we live by whether we realize it or not. Everyone has something we value including me. Some of the values I might think highly of,
The things that I value in my life are my child, my opportunity to receive an education, my family, the welfare of others, and my future. Throughout my short young- adult life, so far I have concluded that I value these things because they are what touch me the most inside. These things help to keep me motivated, no matter what obstacles are thrown at me. When faced with an opportunity, I will strive to succeed. When staring in the face of adversity, I will overcome. The things that I value are what have morphed me into the person th...
My core educational values define what I believe is necessary tools students need to be successful. Such values are provided by the community of people (educators, parents, business partners) who touch the students’ lives. I value knowledge because without awareness of specific content, students are not able to truly feel a part of society. I value development of skills in order for students to apply their knowledge. When skills are applied, students demonstrate their knowledge and ability to function in our current world. I value critical thinking in our students so they can extend their knowledge and skills to solve complex problems benefitting our present and future. I value citizenship and feel that education has a responsibility to model and nurture character qualities in our students. Educating students is raising them equipped with tools that will enable them to function as contributing participants in a productive society. Knowledge, skills, critical thinking, and citizenship are educational values at the core of developing a student ready for the world’s challenges.
Understanding who we are as individuals can be a struggle for people throughout life. It can be difficult to comprehend who we are and why we exist. There are daily outside influences that help create who we are and what our values are. Values play a significant role in our lives. They shape the choices we make and reveal a big part of our identity to the world. Some values may be more important than others, but they still manage to influence our lives in one way or another, whether we know it or not. Values can range from a tangible item to an idea that has influenced us to stand by and remember those values. The values we hold with the highest importance act as a guide and help us prioritize our purpose and goals in our daily life. My family has taught me a list of values and traits that have helped me become a well-rounded individual. I value my family more than anything because most of my core inner values have started from their teachings at one point or another. My top values that I have developed from my family are dedication, honesty, and wisdom. I will discuss who I am in terms of the important values that shape my personal belief system and decision making framework that, in essence, describes the direction of my life.
Family happiness is obviously central to my own happiness and my dreams for the future hinge on that value. In fact, everything really ties together. I want to have successful upward growth in my job role and dependability and honesty are a way to get there. Having a successful career will also make it possible to have long-term financial stability which is very important to me. When I completed the activity “27 Things I Want to Do Before I Die” in Becoming a Resonant Leader it became quickly apparent that what I enjoy the most is traveling (McKee, Boyatzis, & Johnston, 2008, p. 78). Travel means so much to me and my family and is something that we all greatly enjoy. My dream is that in the future we will have the financial means and ability to travel the world. I would also like to retire at by the age of sixty and enjoy my
