Many cultures celebrate the transformation from child to adult, but the change is not overnight. Rather, it is a culmination of many years; these years are summarized in one word, adolescence. Adolescence is the transition period from immaturity and childhood to maturity and adulthood in a person’s life. The adolescent years are filled with transformation both physically and intangibly. While there are many stages of development, adolescence is the most important as it provides a basis for the remaining years of life. Wealth is, in most cases, earned through a job. In the adolescent years, education is the primary occupation as it equips teenagers with the necessary knowledge for their career choices. The experiences in adolescent education determine the career path of students. A positive event with law enforcement may motivate one to become a police officer. Different jobs require different levels of education. Students may choose to be studious and further their education; others may choose to do the bare minimum to eventually work a minimum wage job. A high investment in education raises the level of wealth, and a low investment in education lowers the level of wealth. For instance, a student drops out of high school to complete his General Education Diploma. He struggles to find a job with a high enough pay to support himself and save for the future. Morals are developed through life experiences, and because the time in adolescence is filled with temptations, the moral character of young teenagers is molded. Teenagers are introduced to many groups and cultures that may or may not be a positive influence on their lives. Student government and other school sponsored clubs would instill morals of generosity, integrity, and benefiting others. Partying would have the opposite effect ingraining dishonesty, lack of self-control, uncooperativeness, and carelessness into the characters of adolescents. However, the changes that occur at this time are so significant that it is useful to talk about adolescence as a distinct period of human life cycle. This period ranges from biological changes to changes in behavior and social status, thus making it difficult to specify its limits exactly (Damon, 2008). Adolescence begins with puberty, i.e. a series of physiological changes that lead to full development of the sexual organs and the ability to breed and sex. The time interval that elapses begins at 11 to 12 years and extends to 18 to 20. However we cannot associate to a 13 with one 18 years. It is no surprise that adolescence, defined as the transition from childhood to adulthood, is full of obstacles (Feldman, 2012). During this time period, adolescents are neither adults nor children; they do not appear to belong in any stable group. However uncomfortable this may seem, it is also a fitting definition. For during the adolescent stage, adolescents face puberty, sexual curiosity, self-esteem issues, and doubts about their future (Feldman, 2012). My physical development was not so difficult for me. I experienced the growth spurt when I was10 to 15-years old. I didn’t think it was difficult time for me because my range of growth spurt was not so large. Additionally, I did not belong to sports club, so I did not feel uncomfortable when I move my body. I think I am a late bloomer because I have never had boyfriend. But I think it is advantage for me because I am not a “boy-crazy”. I know some friends who are early bloomer and being “boy-crazy”, I do not want to be like them. I have my own interest and I have something what I want to do besides dating with boys. My physical developments have some effects on my character of today. I think it is because I was taller than others since very young, my friends often said to me “you are like my elder sister.” This phrase makes me think that I need to be like elder sister when I was child. It is related to more about psychological development, but this way of thinking came from my height. One of other physical development related issue that makes me struggle is my period. Every time I am in period, I have pain in stomach and back; I feel sleepy, hungry, and irritating; and I have skin problems. I think there are more people who have more heavy symptoms of period, however, sometimes I cannot endure these. My physical developments have some effects on me, but it was not so difficult for me to pass through.
