Morality is defined to be the standards of a human behavior and principles that always give a meaning to life and is a must. Today’s youth have shown a massive degradation in the moral values in the modern society. A large number of today’s youth seem to believe that having moral standards is outdated and unfashionable. Several minds are now subtitled with hypocrisy, lust, hatred and so on, which has resulted in a degeneration that arose from the lack of parental influence, open-minded media and peer pressure. Those causes are the main reason of the sorry state of morality between the youth nowadays.
A good establishment to one’s moral standards starts from an early stage that requires to be powered by parents. Thus, parents should inspire their ideas of appropriate morals from a very early age. Parental behavior affects the child's personality and the chances of developing moral absence. All parents have a duty towards their children but a number of these parents tend to care about their child’s academic education more than their moral standards; forgetting that it is most importantly to have moral values than to just learn. Parents are their child’s number one teacher they must teach them how life works, because life is not all about teaching them academically but morally as well. Thus, if parents don’t corporate and well-teach their children, they shouldn’t get surprised when their child ignores them or disrespects them. Yet, many of today’s parents seem to only care about their own pleasures rather than their children’s morals. A simple example, are parents who only care about having fun and enjoying their time leaving their kids behind for the nanny. Parents now often don’t have the time or can't be any bothered to spend the...

...ntal censorship where teens could look at any nasty or banned images without anyone telling them that it is wrong to view such images. However, there has been a great development in such fallacious images like pornography, degradation of sexuality especially in a women’s figure and weasel advertising manipulation which causes negative and harmful influences on the youth. Internet is a great useful tool that offers wide opportunities for learning and other useful matters but unauthorized access to illegal websites makes the internet a huge dangerous tool such as for pornography or being abused by strangers. Thus, liberal media is playing a great role in brainwashing the youth.
Parents, friends, and the media are great agents of the declination of today’s moral values in the youth that have caused a massive moral crisis which lead to the disappearance of the morals.
The most successful way to instill righteous and moral behavior and thoughts is by demonstrating our respectable interactions and honest problem solving approaches during difficult times of our lives. “As adults we should dare to be adults that we want our children to be”. They learn by watching and are quick to mimic our behavior with their peers outside of home. The author writes that “we should strive to raise children who: engage with the world from a place of worthiness, embrace their vulnerabilities and imperfections, feel a deep sense of love and compassion for themselves and others, value hard work, perseverance, and respect, and also move through our rapidly changing world with courage and a resilient spirit” (214, 218-219). All of these elements will help to transform the way we live, love, and
...ts set for them. Children are constantly aware of adults’ choices, and they begin to formulate their own understanding of general values at a young age. When adults are hypocritical of their pre-set standards, it sends children into a state of discombobulation. Staying true to one’s values as an example for children will be beneficial to them as they travel along the highway of childhood and come upon the exit necessary to reach the interstate of adulthood.
There are certain characteristics of parents who influence their children’s moral behavior. The first characteristic are warm and supportive parents, parents who also involve their children in family decisions, parents who models morally thinking and behavior, and finally parents who inform their children of what behaviors are acceptable, expected and reasoning behind. An example of these parents’ characteristics’ can be when a child is upset because their sibling has taken their toy from them. A parent with the above characteristics will talk to the children on their level, ask open-ended questions, and talk about solutions for their issue. The parent will also voice own opinion on what is the acceptable thing to do, and explain why that is. These four characteristics are sort of strategies’ that are excellent for parents to utilize in order to foster their children’s moral development. Parents who are warm and supportive tend to have a secure attachment to their children which is the base for creating a positive parent-child relationship, without that, parents cannot model behavior to the child, as the child will not trust in the parent. By being an informative parent with reasoning, parents teach their children positive socializing and thus an appropriate positive moral behavior. They also provide
One of the most pressing problems facing America today is our moral crisis. This problem is one that is related to many other social dilemmas. It has a correlation to our rising crime rate, drug usage, and a trend towards sexual irresponsibility. It is imminent for Americans to find a cure for this moral disease lest we are bound for chaos. In order to solve this problem we must first, as with any problem, determine the causes. One of the causes is the overall tolerance of things that are immoral. Immorality can be defined as anything that deteriorates the decency, honorable or artistic merit, and overall purity of things. Today our society is one that accepts this trait. Tolerance of music and television that is morally questionable and an overall acceptance of a growing trend of sexual irresponsibility. That cause is the one that is possibly the most challenging one to remedy. The antidote includes a change of the current American attitude towards immorality. Another cause is the decline of the American family. The way to rid ourselves of this causing factor is to promote a more traditional family and encourage sexual responsibility. A third source of the destruction of America’s moral base is the media, It is becoming a crude exhibit of America’s worst ethics. The remedy for this component of the problem is to more strictly regulate and censor the media.
When one thinks about morals, he or she often find himself in difficulty. It is a fact that morals are mostly passed from one generation to another. However, we all face challenges when trying to understand whether they are all accurate or not. To start with, Morals are those values that normally protect life and always respectful of the dual life value of individual and others. Therefore, Morals are those rules that normally govern actions that re wrong or right. We know that morals may be for all people in the society or individual beliefs in the society. Some of the great morals include freedom, charity, truth, honesty and patience and all of them have a common goal. It is a fact that when they function well in the society, they end up protecting and enhancing life. These morals need to be examined always to make sure that they are performing their mission of protecting life. As a matter of fact, morals are derived from the government and society, self and religion. When morals are derived from the government and society, they tend to change as the morals and laws of the society changes. An example of the changes is seen in the cases of marriage versus individuals living together. It is true that in the past generation, it was quite rare to see any couple living together without having any legal matrimonial ceremony. However, this
Axiology is the study of the Nature of Values. As an Existentialist I believe that a person’s choices are what creates the human being. As I am a military child, I have had a very strict life. While most of the values I learned were from my home life, school and other sources backed these values up. I will focus on my top three values which are respect, responsibility, and understanding. The others that will guide my practice are discipline, trying your best, kindness, and commitment. The first value that came to my mind was respect. Respect is very important because you must earn others respect and vice versa. I learned this, first, through my home, by respecting my parent’s wishes, even if it was not something I agreed with. Thus in turn,
“Decreased moral standards and ethics related to ignorance to accepted social behavior standards”. Morality is defined as an understanding and distinguishing right and wrong and behaving according to socially accepted standards (The Definition of Morality, 2002). People can be inconsiderate and conflictful. From the assessment, it was evident that some people have lack of respect to other’s personal properties and even their own. Abandoned houses and trash on properties suggest social and moral degradations. Some of the contributing factors might be poverty, unemployment, and mental illnesses. Lack of morality might be a problem that affects other states and even countries. However, in some areas of Spokane, it is evident that people

J.S. Mill’s principle of utility is explained as actions are right as they tend to gain happiness, and wrong as they tend to reduce happiness. Mill defines happiness as, “pleasure and the absence of happiness is pain.” He argues that pleasure can differ in quality and quantity, and that more complex pleasures are ranked higher. Mills also places people’s achievements of goals, such as a virtuous living, should be counted as part of their happiness. When Mill states that the principle of utility is the “First Principle” of morality he is ranking the principle of utility highest because that in order to know what the boundaries of morality are, it is necessary to know how actions should be accounted. The first principle dictates the rest of the principles of morality because it illuminates what the right thing to do is, and that is to maximize happiness. Happiness is the goal of morality, and this is why Mill believes that morality must have a first principle.
The influence of mass media has changed the behavior of sections of society. Brown (2002) assert that the increase use of media has increasingly led youths to adopt overtly sexual behaviour. He writes;
One of the most important things to parents is that their child grows up to be a caring, healthy human being. Parents were actually asked what the most important thing they wanted for their children was. “The most common response, given by 48% of the parents, was making sure their child grows up to be a moral person.”
Moral ethics is the belief that all human beings are born to know right from wrong. We come into this world as good people, but the temptations and challenges in life influence our mind set to as it will. Every person on Earth chooses if they’re to follow through with their life of good or go down the path of bad. “A person’s moral ethics” (unknown.)

“The media's the most powerful entity on earth. They have the power to make the innocent guilty and to make the guilty innocent, and that's power. Because they control the minds of the masses” (Thinkexist, 2010). The mass media, including news, movies, magazines, music, or other entertainment source has become a part of daily life for many people. As the quote mentions mass media and its power are capable of influencing people’s mind and behavior. Contents in the media introduced to young people make it difficult for them to distinguish between what is real and what is not, as a result stimulating confusion and blind imitation. The mass media plays an important role in the increase of violence, sexual activity, and risky behaviors among teenagers.
