The Internet is a vast platform that can be used to expand the story world of The Goddess Within in multiple ways. Through the countless platforms available, the web can play host to related social media pages, fictions yet informative websites that expand and enrich the storyline, and a comprehensive encyclopedia of websites and information that keeps the story world more accessible and intact for the viewers. By maintaining a coordinated web presence, viewers will easily be able to access online sources, thus enriching their overall experience with The Goddess Within.
Social media may be used to develop specific characters by using various media platforms on the web. To establish the presence online, transmedia creators should begin by accessing platforms that viewers are using and already exist. These websites may include Ning, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram (Hayes, 2011). Starting a social media campaign, should begin with the two most widely used social media platforms, Twitter and Facebook. According to research conducted by The Atlantic, “More than 20 million U.S. adults access Twitter at least once a month and more than 170 million tweets are sent every day” (Jackson, 2011). To help create hype about these characters The Goddess Within will establish Twitter presences for their characters, particularly for Athena, the Goddess. With her sassy and forward personality, she would not hesitate to speak her mind, thus personifying this character via Twitter would make for an engaging and fun Twitter experience for users. Athena’s Twitter could also be used to hyperlink to other websites and social media pages created to promote this story world. Another character who may also make for an interesting Twitter ...

...media story to expand. The Goddess Within would most benefit from utilizing social media platforms to generate interest and develop important characters’ identities. In addition, creating fictional websites that provide more information about the professional lives of these characters and the research that they are doing about specific archeological discovers will help make the story seem more realistic, thus making it more relatable. Finally, creating an organized wiki site to make more background information and other avenues of the story world more accessible to viewers would help transmedia creators to make this story organized and cohesive across these platforms. Most importantly, like the Internet that is always expanding, updating, and changing, as The Goddess Within continues to develop as a transmedia world, the web can easily change and adapt with it.
In “Modern Romance,” Celeste Biever describes romantic relationships in the Internet community. She describes how people can romantically be involved on the Internet and how the Internet teaches one to learn about a person from the inside out.In “Cyberspace and Identity,” Sherry Turkle also expresses her interest in the Internet and how it allows for the act of self-exploration. Even though their focus on what the Internet is used for are different from the perspective of one another, Biever and Turkle both see the Internet as a place for exploration in a general sense.
Within the last two decades, our social media has rapidly developed and it becomes one of the most influent types of social communication. Though its original purpose is to be a convenient way to converse distantly, it becomes multi-tasked in recent years which some notable Internet corporations such as Facebook, Tweeter create new applications that expand its purpose from talking only. Many Greek gods were seen as both benefactors and tormentors, typically it depends on which god or goddess you are researching about. The seemingly contradictory behavior of the gods, acting as both benefactors and tormentors of man, can readily be explained when viewed in light of the prime directive for man, to worship the gods and not “overstep,” and the ensuing “Deus ex Mahina” which served to coerce man to fulfill his destiny as evidenced by the myths: “Pandora,” “Arachne, and “Odysseus.” Humankind and it’s range of vision over the gods beauty and power portrayed them to be benefactors but unseemingly it depicted their affliction towards humans.

Athena was one of the twelve gods in Greek mythology that lived on Mount Olympus. She was the daughter of Zeus the ruler of all the gods and the god of the sky. Athena had many titles is Greek mythology but her two most influential were the goddess of war and the goddess of wisdom. Some of the stories that will be discussed in this paper have multiple versions to them depending on who is telling them or what culture is telling them.
The Greek gods and goddess have sparked my interest ever since seventh grade when I read The Percy Jackson Series. All throughout the books my attention was grasped by their power and demanding personalities, one specific goddess that stood out to me was Athena. Her charm and dominant personality fascinated me and definitely caught my attention. Before reading The Percy Jackson Series, I knew very little about Athena or the gods and goddess’ in general. Later, I took it upon myself to find out more about who the gods were and why they are important to the series I was reading at the time. My knowledge came in handy during the research I did to complete my paper. During my research I found that Athena was very important in not only The Odyssey, but in Greek mythology. She was one of the most confident and practical goddess’, and she was very well respected by the Greek people because of how she helped them.
The definition of a hero is dependent on that society's beliefs, laws and taboos. There are heroes for all ages and for both men and women. Heroes have had changing roles since man wrote his story, and all have been the embodiment of each society, each civilization's ideals. Basketball superstar, Michael Jordan, largely affects the children of today that are enthralled with visions of hoop dreams. He inspires the young depraved ghetto child to rise up against his unfortunate circumstances. Possessing many noteworthy qualities, all heroes possess faults because they are human and all humans possess failings. Because heroes begin to fold and make mistakes as they are suddenly thrust into the awe inspired limelight, and because their pedestals are broken and discarded as the public craves to see the dirt underneath the hero. Heroes are a product of a society's perception of someone to be praised.
