What I have researched was on how can physical therapy can help the development of motor skills on autistic kids'' come sooner than they are suppose to? The research that was completed surrounding the research questions was that I looked up how children with autism function on different exercises and activities and how they would react to it. Throughout my research I found that it’s hard for children to focus or do anything that they don’t like or choice to do, so I think it’s better to construct the exercises or activities in things that interest them. When a child is diagnosed with autism, one thing that is noted is the lack of eye contact. Music therapy works to help this in numerous ways. When the therapist starts at the child’s level, according to the British Colombian Music therapy association, they can base what needs to be done and how to do it off of where the child is and after many sessions, where they are now (M-7). The Autism Spectrum can be split into many subtypes, including Childhood Disintegrative Disorder, Asperger’s Syndrome, and Pervasive Development Disorder- Not Otherwise Specified (PDD-NOS). Starting from an age as young as infancy, symptoms of Autism may be conveyed. Repetitive behavior, any loss of speech or social skills, and attachment to parents are three of the many symptoms expressed by children with Autism (“What is Autism?”). In order to improve theses symptoms, many types of treatments have been established. First are the Behavior and Communication Approaches, which include Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), the Early Start Denver Model (ESDM), and different sorts of therapy. Other treatments include dietary approaches, medication, and Complimentary and Alternative treatments. Based on the developed treatments, the early intervention Behavior and Communication Approaches exhibit the most benefits to children diagnosed with autism.

Also, in the same article the author states that, " People with Autism have problems with communication and social interaction." I believe that people should be much more understanding and tolerant of people with Autism. Those people have disadvantages , such as : difficulty with language , which they make up with advantages , such as : putting clues together , and having the unique interest and talents , as my amazing brother Ted.
When all the thinking and eliminating was done, I finally had a subject and a target behavior. I then started to do research on the various things that would help my subject in his target behavior. There are many articles that I found that had nothing to do with what I was looking for. I was fortunate enough to find some articles that related to my topic and were very beneficial in the upcoming months.

The United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (2012) estimate that 1 out of every 88 American children have been properly diagnosed. There is no known cure for autism, and the inconsistencies of the symptoms of autism in each case make it difficult to target a particular set of effective treatments. However some behavior management therapies, specifically physical therapy, may help to significantly control the unwanted symptoms in young children with autism spectrum disorder.
Ever since I met my first autistic friend, I’ve been so fascinated about this disorder that I would do plenty of research to understand her. To this day I am very fascinated with autism and how it affects people differently, but also the fact that I am studying to be a Psychologist to specialize in kids with autism.

With this disorder, there are many things that can be put into place for a child who has ASD to be able to function “normally” on a daily basis. Music therapy is one strategy that has been proven to be very successful with a child, who has ASD, to be able to function “normally;” especially when it comes to their social and communication skills.
I was a bit disappointed that there wasn’t any major information on my topic. I then realized that they needed to update some articles, and provide newer information on topics. Under those circumstances I still needed to find credible information, to further support my research. Afterwards, I decided to search different credible websites, I searched for articles and eBooks. There were a lot of articles because this topic is full of information all over the web. I then felt that I needed to go deeper with my research. I then proceeded to interview with my neighbor, to further illustrate my purpose. She has an autistic child, named Kelly. Her child is in a program at John F Kennedy High School. Considering developing more research, I wanted to know what really goes on. From her perspective whereas me only doing online research. I first wrote on my notepad app on my phone, what 3 main point I wanted to discuss. For a start I asked how her child is facing discrimination throughout her school life, and outside of it. She told me when she brings Kelly into a public place people stare, whisper and point. When Kelly is at school other children continuously mock her calling her retarded, dumb etc. Which touched my heart because I see it happening all the time in the school systems.
