Although my title states TGI Friday’s, they were not my first choice for my research paper. My first choice was actually a restaurant named Texas de Brazil. However, the content that was requested in the research paper was unavailable for this restaurant. Even though there are lots of restaurants that I could have choose from, I decided to go with TGI Friday’s because they had most of the requested content available. Hence the reason for my decision.
TGI Friday’s is also known as TGIF, or Friday’s to its customers. It is a casual dining restaurant and bar that features American cuisine and legendary drinks. They have a full bar with separate staff and features a beer and wine multi-sheet menu. They provide table style service, where the food is plated in the kitchen and then brought out to guests. In 1965, TGI Friday’s opened their first restaurant at the corner of 63rd Street and First Avenue in New York City. When the restaurant was opened they had a unique way of advertising their menu items. They used a chalkboard. Because of the restaurant’s location they quickly became a place where single adults would meet and hang out. Within the restaurants first year, the revenue was reportedly $1 million.
TGI Friday’s mission statement “In Here, It’s Always Friday” is also known as the guest promise or brand promise. In 1972,

After a long day in school and studying, every student needs a night off to just relax and enjoy a meal at a restaurant. In this modern time, some aspects of a restaurant can be the deciding choice. Many choose their restaurant of choice based on either those they are with, their personal, cultural appetite, their routine eating habits or their mood. Some of these preferences are similar yet others are the deciding differences. Two common franchise restaurants that pose differences are Applebee’s and Olive Garden. These two restaurants present their differences in environmental and food options causing a choice between them.
For example, a cheese and pepperoni topping pizza at Domino’s is very popular because it is very tasty and delicious to many people and that is why they comeback to Domino’s. The satisfaction of a meal at Domino’s will consist of what type of pizza the customer will pick and either some chicken wings or chocolate cake added to the side. This meal will make a family very satisfied and their temptation of craving the meal again will comeback sometime later in the future, which will make them order again from Domino’s pizza. Another example, will be a dinner meal at Olive Garden, which consists of lasagna, bread sticks, and salad. This meal is very delicious and much healthier than the meal mentioned before this. This meal is a family bundle and it has a higher price than the Domino’s meal. Many customers will return to Olive Garden because this meal is great for a family dinner night. Overall, the Olive Garden meal is much better in taste, but the Domino’s meal is cheaper in
The Donner Party Poverty-stricken emigrants floated around America. In the East and Midwest, people had nothing. There were no jobs, no homes, and no money. But in the West, they had everything.
In today’s society Americans want everything quick and cheap, so the question stands what is a quick lunch and what is available for an economical price? Americans live in a world that surrounds us with fast food restaurants. Two of the most well known restaurants for fast food restaurants is McDonald 's and Checkers. Far from what we imagined, McDonald 's and Checkers have huge differences. Most people perceive them just as the same fast food restaurant with different names. For this reason, they create debates on which one of them is the superior restaurant and which one is the more economical price. Though neither of these companies provides the healthiest foods for Americans the question stands, which one is for lunch today? Even though,
Headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio, The Kroger Company is one of the largest supermarket retailers across the United States. Founded in 1883, Barney Kroger invested his life savings of $372 to open his first grocery store at 66 Pearl Street in downtown Cincinnati. (Kroger, 2011). Barney was quite proud. He was the first grocer ever to have a bakery, to sell meat, and to sell other groceries all in one store. From the start, Barney operated his business with a simple motto: “Be particular. Never sell anything you would not want yourself.” (Kroger, 2011). Today, one hundred and twenty-eight years later, the Kroger Company is still following Barney’s motto.
The food industry has become a large part of the American lives by providing cheap, affordable, and fulfilling food. Now fast food has expanded globally creating a global phenomenon. In Fast Food Nation: The Dark Side of the All-American Meal by Eric Scholosser, the books looks at the history of fast food and how it became a multi-billion dollar industry. Scholosser is an investigative journalist that seeks to uncover the truth about the fast food industry by researching its roots and exploring every aspect of the industry. While the “Meat and Potatoes” explores the process, production and health issues concerning with the beef industry. He approached the issues of the fast food industry by interviewing teenage fast food employee, ranchers, franchise owners, meat packing workers, and people from Germany. Scholosser methods of dividing the book into two sections and interviewing workers from all part of the food industry help provide perspectives from all aspects of the industry to strengthen his argument. Scholosser argued that corporate greed and manipulation has made the fast food industry a danger to children and fast food employees.
When trying to figure out where to go for lunch, it can be a difficult choice because of how many options are out there. There could be dozens of restaurants to choose from, with varying degrees of interest. Fast food restaurants are usually chosen because they are cheap, easy, and convenient. However, many places are changing what it means to be a fast food restaurant. Panera Bread, for example, is technically a fast food restaurant, but usually is rarely compared to a place like Burger King. Panera Bread generally has a nicer atmosphere with a better aroma and a wealthier appeal while Burger King appeals to the crowd of people who want cheap and easy food.

Many of the customers are regulars who have been coming to the restaurant ever since it first opened, which is why the owners make it a priority to provide a consistent menu with the customer’s favorite entrees. The restaurant strictly serves dinner options, as it opens its doors at 4pm. The menu consists of seafood, pasta, steak, and sandwiches, as well as a daily entrée and soup specials, allowing every customer to find something that appeals to them on the menu. Although the menu features a wide variety of food, many of the options, especially the seafood, can be quite pricey for many customers. This results in many customers only being able to come in for special occasions, as the food is too expensive to pay for on a regular basis. Some of the restaurants most popular items, such as the prime rib, are only available on the weekend, resulting in customers who come into the restaurant specifically for thos...

The American life has been transformed by the fast food industry not just changing the American diet but also the culture, workplace, economy, and the landscape. “Today about half of the money used to buy food is spent at restaurants-mainly fast food restaurants.” (Schlosser) This could be due to the fact that about two-thirds of working women are mothers. The impact of fast food on the American culture is transparent when just looking at McDonald’s. McDonald’s has become the world’s most famous brand; the golden arches are more known than the Christian cross. “A survey of American schoolchildren found that 96 percent could identify Ronald McDonald.” (Schlosser) McDonald’s is responsible for 90 percent of new jobs in The United States. Donald Trump is a successful businessman who has accomplished more than most people could ever dream of. He started in the real estate business and has his own university, appeared on a T.V. show, is a billionaire, has many golf resorts, and is the president of the United States. He is criticized for many of his comments and political views. Some of these views are him wanting to build a wall to protect the United States from illegal immigrants and drugs, wanting to replace The Affordable Care Act, and banning people from Muslim countries to keep out terrorists. Although Donald Trump is often viewed as a controversial figure, he benefitted the United States of America by improving and creating jobs, proving that non-establishment politicians can still win the presidency, and by making America safer.
Subway effectively competes with burger chains and others that are in the fast-casual segment of the market. Including healthier meals into its menu and giving much attention to obesity and diabetes have supported consumers' choice for Subway (Tarantino, 2005). However, Subway has not been satisfied thus far; instead, more intensified efforts have been made to improve business during the dinner hour. Additional menu options have also been added to answer competitors' trends and to place more focus on the children's segment.
