When trying to figure out where to go for lunch, it can be a difficult choice because of how many options are out there. There could be dozens of restaurants to choose from, with varying degrees of interest. Fast food restaurants are usually chosen because they are cheap, easy, and convenient. However, many places are changing what it means to be a fast food restaurant. Panera Bread, for example, is technically a fast food restaurant, but usually is rarely compared to a place like Burger King. Panera Bread generally has a nicer atmosphere with a better aroma and a wealthier appeal while Burger King appeals to the crowd of people who want cheap and easy food.
Usually, when a person walks into Panera Bread, the first thing that individual will notice is the smell. It often smells like bread or cheese in the store. It is a very pleasant aroma and usually increases the hunger of the person walking in. The store also has very nice staff; it is clear that most Panera Breads treat their employees

respectfully and expect a lot out of them (Read, Stuart, et al.). They often have smiles on their faces and are quick to make sure you are satisfied. The store also appeals to a wealthier crowd; Panera is not a cheap place. A visit to Panera Bread often costs at least ten dollars per person. Their food is expensive for a reason, however. Their meat is a high grade and a lot of their food is labeled as GMO free or organic. They have more quality options than other restaurants, with a large portion of their menu involving fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. The store does not like to be labelled as “fast food”, despite the fact that it is. In addition to that, Panera Bread offers catering services. Burger King is the restaurant many people visit when they do not feel like cooking, only have a few dollars to spend, and want to get their food fast.
There are hundreds of thousands of Burger Kings across the United States, and they all have cheap food. For one person, Burger King can cost as low as a dollar before taxes if that person eats off of the dollar menu. However, since the food is so cheap, it is not as good quality. It also does not taste as good as more quality food. Instead, the meat is a low grade and often contains fillers to lower the price of the meat (Sporleder and Goldsmith). The staff is often paid a very low wage, and they are not very friendly. The restaurant offers a cheap fast food joint atmosphere, followed by an aroma of French fries, fryers, and grease. Burger King, like many fast food restaurants, has meals that appeal to children, along with play rooms kids can have fun in. This is so they can appeal more to families, generating more
revenue. Despite the fact that Burger King and Panera Bread are so different, they still hold similarities. They both, for example, are still considered fast food restaurants. Even though they are vastly different in terms of service, food, and environment, they still classify as fast food. They both also have eat-in and take-out services. Some Panera Breads have drive-through options, just like Burger King. They also have similar foods, like sandwiches and smoothies. Even though they differ in quality, they are still the same type of food. Burger King and Panera Bread have locations across the entire United States, and offer customers seasonal promotions. For example, both Panera Bread and Burger King have pumpkin and pumpkin spice themed foods and beverages in the fall season. In conclusion, Panera Bread and Burger King are both pretty different in terms of quality, but are alike in terms of seasonal promotions and type of restaurant. Both are fast food restaurants that offer eat-in and take-out experiences. Although, Panera Bread caters more to a wealthy crowd while Burger King appeals more to people looking for cheap and convenient foods.
There are many fast food places to choose from in the southwest region of the country. Two of the most common fast food restaurants are In-N-Out Burger and Jack in the Box. I have personally been employed at both of these establishments. The difference between the two is quality, price, and working environment.
Receiving steady business and making sure customer’s wants and needs are met in the restaurant world is the only way to ensure a successful business. The environments you experience can affect everything. Panera Bread’s comfortable relaxed environment encourages a happy mood which will lead to people continuing to dine with them. Panera Bread is an excellent restaurant and my overall experience was amazing. I will recommend the restaurant to other with no discretion.
The New York Times bestseller Fast Food Nation: The Dark Side of the All-American Meal is one of the most riveting books to come out about fast food restaurants to date (Schlosser, 2004). Fast food consumption has become a way of life for many in the United States as well as many other countries in the world. The author Eric Schlosser an investigative reporter whose impeccable researching and bold interviewing captures the true essence of the immense impact that fast food restaurants are having in America (2004). Beginning with McDonald’s, the first fast food restaurant, which opened on April 15, 1955 in Des Plaines, Illinois to current trends of making fast food a global realization McDonald’s has paved the way for many fast food restaurants following the same basic ideal that is tasty foods served fast at a minimal cost (2011). Schlosser explains how fast food restaurants have gained substantial market share of the consumers; he also shows that by marketing to children and offering less unhealthful fare, that are purchased from mega-companies which are often camouflaged with added ingredients and cooked unhealthful ways, that these companies are indeed causing irreparable harm to our country (2004).
Panera Bread is a “fast-casual” restaurant that provides a variety of sandwiches, soups, smoothies, and baked goods. They are in between the typical fast food restaurants and the sit down dinning. They offer high quality, healthier products at a fast pace. They are focused on the broad differentiation strategy. They differentiate themselves from their competition in many ways. You can chose to take it to go or sit down and dine in an alluring atmosphere. Some Panera Breads have fireplaces, cozy seating, higher quality furniture and gathering rooms to make you come in and relax or come in and do some work. With an advantage to their competition, Panera has the relaxed atmosphere, quick service, healthier options, at a reasonable price that puts them above others.

Like the vast majority of Americans, I’ve eaten at a fast food restaurant before. Maybe the tables were sticky, or chicken was suspiciously white, but the fries tasted great, so I’d overlook the less enjoyable aspects of my experience. After reading Fast Food Nation by Eric Schlosser, I understand that isn’t an option anymore. In ways both big and small, the fast food industry exerts a ridiculous amount of power over the American consumer, and it’s imperative that this be understood, should any impactful changes be made. As it stands now, the fast food industry is in dire need of reform, as it poses innumerable health and societal risks to the country and the world.
Based on the study from Chicago-based Research International USA found that more than half of the population eats fast food once a week and with a 20 percent eating fast food at least every other day. Most being males below middle age. Also more than half of the guests were with family members, 29 percent of these guests are with children under the age of 18. Fast foods chains are targeting kids and young adults by utilizing cartoon characters and celebrities to influence them into their products. They also build playgrounds in their restaurant to help draw kids into business and also provide toys with cartoon characters they can relate. Some chains have website which are geared for kids and allow them to play games and interact with their products. These tactics are to entice kids into their restaurants which are a contributing factor with higher rate of guests that are under 18.
The term “fast-food” is usually distinguished by food served very quickly to a customer by drive-through or carry-out. Fast-food restaurants are highly associated with low-cost and malnutrition foods with brief consumer and employee interaction, and below average cleanliness based on restaurant health inspection reports. Chick-fil-A has changed the usual perception of fast-food restaurants. Rather than burgers and potato fries, Chick-fil-A serves chicken sandwiches and waffle fries. Chick-fil-A also shows their appreciation for employee to customer relations, rather than ignoring the social aspect of serving customers when operating at a fast pace. Chick-fil-A’s menu selection, customer interaction, and clean eating
For millions, fast food restaurants are the source of positive associations with birthday parties, play dates and accessible comfort food. For others, they represent a lifeline meal on a busy day, or the secret to quieting a cranky toddler on a long trip because hurrying residents of cities have no time to cook a healthy breakfast, lunch and dinner. Fast food presents even in the lives of people who are trying

...ica the demographics had to be taken into account. Burger King is a fast food restaurant that is suitable for all ages, races, religion, culture etc. unless a consumers feels different about it. Burger King uses a dispersed configuration for day to day operations as the majority of their restaurants are franchises with local suppliers. Yet Burger King Headquarters uses a concentrated configuration for marketing and development of products, as well as pricing. This centralization of marketing assists all franchises worldwide and provides the greatest value for the company, but the direction of available products and pricing has proven detrimental to the overall success of the firm. An article on CNNMoney.com describes the failure of the $1 double cheese burger to stimulate sales and how a number of franchisees filed lawsuits against the headquarters due to being forced to sell the double cheese burger at less than cost in order to boost revenues for the headquarters and shareholders and not the franchisees.
