Both stories are basically perspectives of the children towards their parents. The parents have created the perspective that the children have on them because they are very annoying at the childrens perspective. This essay will explain how the parents have created tension for the children.
In “Confetti Girl,” it states, “Mom always had after-school projects waiting for me. “Can you help decorate cookies?" she'd say. Or, “Go outside and pick some flowers." Or, “Fix my nails, please." This quote indicates that the Mom has used her child for everything that is not neccesary like decorating the cookies, picking the flowers. This can really shape a bad perspective on the parents because they are using her as a slave. This indicates the tension that could happen at the end. Either she starts to ignore her parents word and become a rebel, or she could behave the same way. All these chores have created a perspective of her parents and how they ask for too much.

Conflict between the main characters in fictional stories can be so thick, you need a razor-sharp knife to cut it; that is definitely the case in the two literary texts I recently analyzed titled “Confetti Girl” by Diana Lopez and “Tortilla Sun” by Jennifer Cervantes. In the first text, tensions mount when a social butterfly of a teenage girl and her oblivious father lock horns over the subject of homework. In the second passage, drama runs high when a lonely child and her career-driven mother battle over the concept of spending the summer apart. Not every teenage girl or teenager gets along with their parents. Everyone sees things in different way. the difference in the point of view provokes the narrator's response, because they both see in a different view that they think their parents is selfish and neglecting or don't care about them but really their parents are helping them.
“I wish you weren’t my parent!” A phrase often said to parents when their children are upset. In “Tortilla Sun” written by Jennifer Cervantes, and “Confetti Girl” written by Diana Lopez, the same type of frustration arises. “Tortilla Sun” involves a girl and her mother in an argument. The girl’s mother decides to pursue her education and needs to leaves her daughter at her grandma’s house. “Confetti Girl” is similar; the main conflict is a daughter missing her mother, and her father not being able to bond with her. Because of the divergent mindsets of both parents and their children, awkward and tense situations cause conflicts in both short stories.
Fulfilling the roles of both mother and breadwinner creates an assortment of reactions for the narrator. In the poem’s opening lines, she commences her day in the harried role as a mother, and with “too much to do,” (2) expresses her struggle with balancing priorities. The mother is a selfish and stubborn woman. Raised a certain way and never falters from it. She neglects help, oppresses education and persuades people to be what she wants or she will cut them out of her life completely. Her own morals out-weight every other family member’s wants and choices. Her influence and discipline brought every member of the family’s future to serious-danger to care to her wants. She is everything a good mother isn’t and is blind with her own morals. Her stubbornness towards change and education caused the families state of desperation. The realization shown through the story is the family would be better off without a mother to anchor them down.
First, after the mother tells Izzy she is going to Costa Rica, Izzy gets upset. She verbalized, ‘“Mom wouldn’t leave me. Right? ‘But that's only three days.’I stepped away from mom and the shards of tile. ‘I don’t have a choice.’ ‘But what am I supposed to do? That’s three whole month's”’(paragraph 11-14). Izzy gets upset with her mother due to the fact that her mother is leaving her in New Mexico for three month,s while she goes to Costa Rica. Her mother knows that it is going to benefit them, and she is doing it to help Izzy. Next, Izzy’s mother and Izzy argue over going to New Mexico. The mother announces, ‘“You’re going to New Mexico and that’s final.’ I swallowed and tried not to cry ‘Why do you always get to decide everything?”’(paragraphs 28 and 29) The mother wants the narrator to go to New Mexico and spend time with her Nana while she is in Costa Rica, but the narrator does not want to go to New Mexico and wants to stay home and she thinks that her mother is ruining her summer. Finally, the mother and narrator argue after they were talking about the narrator's plans. The mother says, “Honey, you can make friends at your new school in the fall. Besides, this is a wonderful opportunity for you.” “Opportunity?For me?Or for you?” (paragraphs 33 and 34)The narrator feels as though that she is not going to have a great

This realization is a frightening one to the mother who then quickly dives back into her surreal vision of the daughter now being a new enemy in a world already filled with evils. In this way it is easier for the mother to acknowledge the daughter as a threat rather than a loss. However, this is an issue that Olds has carefully layered beneath images of war, weapons, and haircuts.
At this point of the story it is reflective of a teenager. A teenager is at a time in life where boundaries and knowledge is merely a challenging thing to test and in some instances hurdled. Where even though you may realize the responsibilities and resources you have, there is still a longing for the more sunny feelings of youth.

He mentions how far women have come since his grandmother's day, but realizes the country as a whole has more room to grow. He mentions how tough it can be for women to juggle a demanding career while raising a family. Both text reference what honor motherhood is but they also admit the demanding workforce can determine how successful a mother they can be. Women today may not face slavery, but they face double standards that limit them to be successful professionals and parents.
As a result of the freshly severed apron strings, while at her new school, the narrator starts to love a new friend named Gwen. When she shares her day with her mother and does not mention her new - found love, this is her young mind s way of saying You have your life and I have mine and I don t have to tell you about it. While the mother daughter relationship still exist, the narrator forms another relationship, making her less dependant on the first. The evolution of adolescence is the theme of the story, but the transformation of the mother daughter relationship proves to be the most drastic change the narrator goes through at an age revolved around change.
In a typical family, there are parents that expected to hear things when their teenager is rebelling against them: slamming the door, shouting at each other, and protests on what they could do or what they should not do. Their little baby is growing up, testing their wings of adulthood; they are not the small child that wanted their mommy to read a book to them or to kiss their hurts away and most probably, they are thinking that anything that their parents told them are certainly could not be right. The poem talks about a conflict between the author and her son when he was in his adolescence. In the first stanza, a misunderstanding about a math problem turns into a family argument that shows the classic rift between the generation of the parent and the teenager. Despite the misunderstandings between the parent and child, there is a loving bond between them. The imagery, contrasting tones, connotative diction, and symbolism in the poem reflect these two sides of the relationship.
The relationship between mother and daughter is strong from birth to forever a mother will do anything for her child, to protect them, to care for them, help them “to avoid their footsteps, to hope for something better” for their children. The rifts between mothers and daughters continue to separate them, but as the daughters get older they become more tolerant of their mothers. They learn they do not know everything about their mothers, and the courage their mothers showed during their lives is astounding. As they get older they learn they do not know everything, and that their mothers can still teach them much about life.
