I am evaluating my team criteria on communication, collaboration and time management. I am going to rate them 1 =poor, 2 = fair, 3= Good & 4 = Excellent. The entire group will receive a grade in each of the category mentioned.
Communications played a vital role in our project. The team performance on the entire project depended on our communication skills and therefor in the early stage of the project we all agreed and put emphasis on this subject. We exchanged phone numbers so that we could either contact via text and verbal. We also sat up “WhatsApp” so that the entire group could chat. We did not communicate and elaborate the area that each part of the assignment required specific posting within the doc. Team members posted their parts in random spots and caused the document to be incomprehensive. It was inappropriate to make judgements, interpret the data and draw conclusion that the posted assignment was irrelevant to the project needs. The confusing postings lead one member or other to deleting others’ post, causing an uproar. None of team members owned deleting work within the document. This caused aggressive behavior and lead to misunderstandings. Our ability, concepts and methods deteriorated as we progressed. There was minimal substantive team discussion and team goals, roles, procedure and responsibilities were being neglected. The team facilitated a meeting on campus and concluded that every Sunday the team would get together at the college for presentation and resolve conflicting parts within the assignment. This seemed to work for about two weeks before it started to fall apart. After the second Sunday meeting one to two members would not be available on progressing Sundays. …show more content…
I have learned through our team efforts success and failures that is important to have a log of entries. Log entries is required so that either an entry or deletion within the doc is trackable. Another observation that I made is that a team requires strong leadership to facilitate presentation and resolve conflicts. The leader requires excellent communications skills in both verbal and non-verbal. Projects require progressive briefings and track implementation of progress. I have also learnt that before project or assignment is deliverable, it requires a formal presentation to the team so that they can evaluate. My team consists of four other people besides myself, Lauren Chojnaki, Alexa-Louise Patnode, and Jacobe Loewen, and Ryan Tyriver. Together, we are tasked with the mission to complete a stakeholder analysis regarding a specific organization and their structure. For this project to be completed successfully, it is important that all team members are able to cooperate with one another and are able to use their different strengths to create the best end product.
Seven tasks must be included in consideration of team dynamics and structure. The first of which is defining the goal, mission or function of a specific team. The team must know what it is being asked to accomplish. The second area of consideration is assessing what skills, abilities, knowledge or potential to acquire such would be needed amongst selected team members. Identification of potential team members should include an assessment of the skills, knowledge and abilities or the potential to acquire such so that ultimately the team has the building blocks with which to succeed in its mission, goal or function. This assessment must include an understanding of realistic potential contributions by potential team members with the included assessment of whether or not the acquisition of skills and knowledge can be made available through research and analysis.
All three group members were present in the library to work on the presentation together and rehearse before the presentation. At the time of the conflict. I was confused as to why the group member who didn't agree with the final product and the direction in which the presentation went did not voice her opinions or disagreements. I was worried that we were so disorganized at a time when we should be ready for the presentation. Fortunately for all group members we did read our notes and do our research on dementia care in relation to wandering, elopement, rummaging and hoarding and we did understand that wandering and elopement was a big concern for dementia patients and was a big safety concern, because we had this knowledge damage control was possible and we stayed focused on our presentation and collaborated as a group in the little time we had left. Firstly, the team’s poor communication. Despite Brandon being self-oriented and disruptive by not showing up for meetings and shirking his responsibilities, the team fails to confront him regarding his commitment and his duties, probably due to groupthink, they deem that Brandon would not be up to negotiate. Instead, Suhaimi takes on Brandon’s work, as he does for any other teammates’ shortcomings, without compromising. Also, Miko being silent and withdrawn during meetings might lead to misunderstandings between her and her teammates, such as Suhaimi seemingly not trusting her. Furthermore, the team’s poor communication led to differing project focuses. Overall, having poor communication would lead to misunderstandings and hinders effective teamwork.
The team members should know how important a project is to the company and stride to achieve the goals in a professional manner. Each member should contribute one hundred and ten percent of their input to the group to make the project the best that it can be. Every member of the team should be rewarded individually for their performance, insights, and total input that is beneficial to the team. Communication is the key to a productive team. Without proper communication with a high performance team, it will be very difficult for the team to be victorious on the project they are trying to accomplish.

Conflicts transpire as the team develops and moves through the different stages listed in section 3.0. Additionally, conflicts could also arise from lack of leadership that leads to unclear and conflicting goals. The lack of communication from the leader would result in uncertainty to the contribution and commitment of each individual (The University of Melbourne, 2013). This conflict can be resolved by regularly reviewing the work and improving the communication between each individual (Johnson, 2015). Another large conflict that arises is the unfair distribution of work to each person. Whilst it is important for each individual to adapt to every Belbin role that is needed, one must not receive more or less work. The unequal distribution could lead to resentment, inefficiency and the unfairness of a member not contributing but still receiving the marks. All these conflicts can be resolved promptly before it hinder on the work quality. Working in teams provides an opportunity for individuals to come together and establish a rapport towards others within a group. Teamwork is classified as people with different strengths and skills who work together to achieve a common goal. When a team works well, specific objectives are fulfilled and satisfied. Teamwork plays a crucial role in implementing and fulfilling a common goal in a team project. Each member plays a role and takes on different responsibilities combined together. In different stages of teamwork, conflicts and arguments may occur for as members have different standpoints which need to be harmonized within the team. This year my team and I accepted 5 major goals: Goal 1 - Establish the CSC-Kirkland technology team as a high-performingcross function team - Rating: Solid - I failed to maximize our EOS score in 2017 in spite of efforts to improve employee engagement. - I fell short by nearly 20 points on EOS and LBI, my biggest personal and professional failure of the year.
This is when one of the team members commonly exhibits the following traits in their work style. The team member never pays attention resulting for the rest of the team being held responsible for errors. This means the tasks of that unsatisfied member have to shared, checked and redone by other team members. This unsatisfied member frequently has to call on others for help without attending class or any of our meetings. As this member’s behaviour continued on, it was not fair on the rest of the group as it did not maintain the same standards, quality and mutual respect in group work. 1.The final presentation for my international monetary system class was to be delivered by groups of four, and the group members were assigned by our professor. Two members of my group, as I knew, had trouble understanding most materials we had covered in class. Another member of our group, concerning about the negative influences on our group grade if those two members messed up our presentation, suggested that we should leave those two members alone and finish the presentation by ourselves. I totally understood his concern, but I insisted that those two members, even struggling with the materials in class, still deserved their chance to finish the presentation as part of our group. In the team project this semester, I intend to contribute to the success of the team in designing, building, and operating a method for dispensing the rings into the boxes and writing functional code for the robot. I am intrigued by the design of a ring dispensing method. In the robot competition last semester, I noticed a certain flaw in most of the robots which dispensed rings. The flaw was that they all used a servo to deliver the ring. If the robot did not properly line up with the box the ring would not land inside of the box. In order to solve this problem, I devised a way for the rings to be dispensed without the need of a servo. By not using a servo, the ring dispensing has to be triggered by the robot lining up with the box
