I. Domain Description
In today’s culture teachers are belittled and expectations for them are high. On the surface a teacher may just seem like one person doing one job, but a teacher is someone who fulfils many different roles daily. One role is the role of a friend in which teachers are encouraged to build empathetic friendships to meet a students’ needs and keep them accountable in the classroom (2.2), this means learning about their home life, hobbies, and interests. TESOL teachers must have strong moral and ethical behaviors because they celebrate the different lives lived out by each student.

A teacher understands what is expected of them within the classroom and within society (2.4). The expectations and demands are high for a teacher, but they approach those expectations with respect and responsibility in order to raise a successful generation of students. Teachers must also sacrifice their free time in order to fulfil the duties of his/her profession to make sure papers are graded and the gradebook is kept up to date. To be a good servant, teachers should demonstrate personal discipline (2.5). A teacher’s personal discipline can be identified through their classroom layout, personal appearance, and disposition. A tidy classroom will show that a teacher cares about their students and that they are responsible for keeping a safe and stable environment for their students. Personal discipline can also be displayed through a teacher’s spiritual life. It takes time and effort to be in communication with a personal Savior, and when teachers turn to their spiritual life they can find peace and comfort. Keeping in touch with their walk with the Lord is an important part to being a successful teacher (2.f). This relationship with their personal Savior can give them strength on rough days and patience to deal with tough situations with students in the classroom, as well as experiences outside the
