Teachers hold a very sensitive role in the modern civilized society. Regarded as social engineers, teachers possess immense knowledge on various issues that affect our daily lives as a community of human beings. Though in many countries including the developed ones, teachers are poorly remunerated they make invaluable contributions to their communities, to society and to the world at large, engaging in yeoman services with selfless love and dedication that could only be considered priceless. This paper serves to explore some of the social contributions that teachers make to the modern civilized society.
Teachers impart knowledge and values on learners with the intention of creating self sufficient, articulate, socially responsible, resilient and active citizens of the world. Currently, knowledge capital is an important ingredient in the growth of the economy locally and globally. Through provision of intellectual capital, teachers can be considered to be the pillars of a sustainable and progressive society (Singh and Samiti). A sustainable knowledge base helps in modeling of economic platforms which are enormously important in a progressive society (Szucs 3). In addition, values which are passed on by teachers to students help in shaping children’s behaviors .The development of positive and desirable personality traits among individuals in the society can thus be attributed to the many good work of teachers.
Another important social contribution made by teachers to society is the aspect of leadership and guidance (Singh and Samiti). Teachers are perhaps, the best examples of guiders and leaders in a community. As such, teachers demonstrate to the society how a dynamic leader should behave and act (Collay 32). Apart from being...

Education in society is intended for the expansion of the human mind with little or no restrictions. The expansion of the human mind is almost unending and education is the start of it all.Irving Layton gives an unpopular belief on how education should look like. Layton states that teachers need to be inspired by their job which results in inspired students. Being apart of my dads teaching career has let me see an exclusive behind the scenes of a teacher and his actions carry out to other people. Personally in my life have experienced many different teachers. In the last year I have experienced two different teachers who have brought me up and down and made me realize how important teachers are and how they affect students. Education should be seen to help students develop their minds, foresee their future, and ready them for life.
They have many and most responsibility towards children and school. For follow their responsibility they have to plan everything before they go to teach the children. Teachers prepare lessons and try to make them as interesting as possible. They prepare homework assignments and assessments. They ensure that the information they pass on is current and correct to the best of their knowledge. They deliver assessments to enable themselves to help each individual student to develop his/her knowledge. They do not judge any of their students. They feedback to parents/carers on the students’
There is no more critical role in our current society than that of a teacher’s. Teachers help shape the minds of the future. Tomorrow's engineers, scientists, politicians, and educators are all greatly influenced by today's instructors. Without teachers society would not be anywhere near where it is now, and only a select few would have access to learning. Sadly however important teachers are in human civilization, they are still drastically understated, unrecognized and under paid.
When I look back to my young developing stages in life, I always ask myself where would I be today if it wasn’t for my teachers? Teachers are the ones who build our future generations. Preparing children and teens for higher education. Also playing a huge part in shaping children’s lives, enlightening them, and educating them about society and the world around them; the types of things that a parent doesn’t have time for, or just lacks the knowledge of. I think teachers are what help make this world go round.
There are many different reasons we need male teachers today in society. They have to face advantages and disadvantages. Some of these male teachers find the need, or desire, to mentor these young boys. Female educators are important but male educators are just as important in ways not possible by a female. Male and female teachers both provide education that the other sex is weaker in. Therefore, it is critical that young people get exposure to both in the educational environments.
Teachers serve as the guiding force in a student’s life. They are responsible for molding a student’s personality and shaping his/her mental orientation. Teachers deeply impact our lives and direct the course of our future. One cannot deny the influence of teachers in one’s life. In fact, it would not be an exaggeration to say that, till a certain age, out life revolves around our teachers. They are our constant companions, until we grow old enough to come out of their shadow and move ahead on our own.
The teacher in the classroom encompasses several roles. Resource, facilitator, and mentor are three of them. The teacher must be a resource that provides ideas and lessons to be learned. The teacher also must be a facilitator that encourages creative thinking, exploration, and mastery. The teachers is responsible for what needs to be learned. The subject matter that is taught is based on both curriculum as well as the world that students live i...
An effective teacher will excite, inspire and motivate students to be active in their learning, investigate new areas of knowledge and make connections to future learning (Whitton et al 2010). When a teacher is successful, their students are motivated, mutually respectful and ready to build on their knowledge and solve real-world problems. To be a teacher of value, one must have many skills and qualities to cater for a diversity of learners and their individual development; this includes many personal traits that are noticed students.
What is the role of the teacher, and what steps will you take to ensure that you are fulfilling this role?
It provides the fundamental and advanced knowledge needed to improve the well-being of a country. Education is critical to the development of a country’s youth, as the popular saying goes, children are the future. The education received from teachers can either leave a lasting impact or have little or no effect on understanding. The Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation asserted that there is a need for “new paradigms, new practices and new people” (as cited in Holaday et al, 2007, 99). Professional development of teacher is required, as mentioned by the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation, “to build a culture supportive of a new generation of scholar citizens” (Holaday et al, 2007, p.99). Thus, it is imperative that the teachers’ in all institutions in a country receive the best possible training and resources needed to fulfil the responsibilities set before
The role of teacher leader has been defined as “teachers who aspire to stretch beyond their classrooms to engage in leadership roles that take many shapes and forms, both “informal and formal”. (ECS, 2010). Teacher leadership has also been described as “the process by which teachers, individually and collectively, influence their colleagues, principals, and other members of the school community to improve learning practices with the aim of increased student learning and achievement.” (ECS, 2010). In years past, a majority of teacher leadership roles took the form of department chair, committee chair, grade level chair, etc. It was more of a representative role versus a leadership role. Their responsibility primarily involved dispersing information from administration to their counterparts and taking information back to administration from the group. Their position lacked decision-making power and true leadership that brings about “real” change. These tasks are still viewed as opportunities for teacher leadership; however, recently, the
The role and responsibilities of a teacher is very complex. Teachers are responsible for making sure their learners acquire the knowledge they need, but also achieve their qualification by the end of the course in a safe learning environment, so they have the skills and experience they need to start their careers. To achieve that goal a teacher must be creative, professional, flexible and knowledgeable enough to deal with daily challenges and find different ways to help their learners needs. Establishing a safe and stimulating environment for learners, creating mutual respect and set goals that stretch and challenge learners of all backgrounds and abilities.
Education is more than just gathering knowledge and skills. For many children, the education system structures who they will become as individuals and how they shape society. This is an integral part of being an educator; a responsibility that should be taken seriously. For one to have such responsibility, I would agree that caring is an essential trait of a teacher.
Education is a very important aspect in the life of a child. The level of success a student has in the classroom is greatly influenced by their teachers. Students, as well as their parents, depend on the teachers to guide them through their education. But who guides a teacher to perform successfully in the classroom? Principals and teachers play an important role in schools. A good relationship among school leaders and teachers is necessary and play an important role in making improvements in the school. Leadership refers to the “process in which one person successfully exerts influence over others to reach desired objectives”. (Okoji, 2015) Good leadership involves honesty, vision, confidence and commitment. It is the ability to inspire a
