The one thing that I wish I could have done was sit in on some of the more serious counseling that happened between my supervisor and some students. I was not allowed to observe/participate in these sessions due to Indiana law. However, if I was in a graduate program I would be allowed to sit in these situations and possible learn new techniques, methods, and ideas on how to handle these situations. I was allowed to sit on some cases that were not super serious, but that was only if I had permission form the parent, student, and my supervisor. My only other concern was that earlier on me and my supervisor had a hard time communicating to each other, but we resolved the issue quickly and have been in constant contact ever since. Just from what I seen from this experience it seems like teachers would make my supervisors job unnecessarily difficult. There were never any major issues, but it would be just little things that could be completely avoidable if the teachers would just follow instructions provide by my supervisor. A common incident would be when gathering I-STEPS they would never be in alphabetical order when it could take the teacher not more than a few minutes to do that for us. If all the teachers did this then what would have taken them a few minutes takes us a minimum of at least thirty minutes to an hour due to the number of students out of order. The students love working with me and my supervisor and always stop by to say hello and usually small talk about each other’s day. I have to clarify though that not all the staff/facility were ungrateful. There were just a few incidents I noticed during this experience that showed me that guidance counselors should be a little more appreciated because they work as hard, if not harder than anyone in the building. Something that amazed me was the simple fact that my supervisor literally knew everyone and everything about anyone. I would be sitting down at the table doing some research on methods of counseling and they would just begin talking about a student and discuss everything about that person. When we go to conferences they take notes about important facts
We were not allowed to discuss lessons, and on math assignments, if we did the problem in a way that was different from the way we were taught, it was automatically marked wrong. We were taught in a similar fashion, frequently being told to shut up or whatever we had to say wasn 't important if the teacher didn 't want us talking. One shining example of the lack of respect our staff had for the students was an assembly that occurred in fourth grade. A student would not stop talking and the principal yelled at him to be quiet. The student stood up and threw a temper tantrum. The principal then grabbed him, put him in a headlock, and said, "Son, I swear to God, if you make my back go out, I 'll make you regret it!" These experiences lead me to believe teachers saw us as little more than an obstacle - something they had to overcome each day - instead of what we really were: young children, whose minds they needed to protect and mold into the future of this
get along with people who are differnt than us. They made me realize that I could learn something
One thing I learned is how to calculate discounts with money. When I go shopping and see something I like on sale, instead of running around searching for a price check I can easily calculate its price in my head. Another thing I have learned is how to write a resume. When applying for a job I need to write a resume; it’s an essential part of my future and career. One last thing I learned was the importance of compromise. When working in a group, and not only that, but anywhere you will find people who don’t always agree or even like you. However, if you learn to compromise you can work with anyone, no matter who they are or what they believe. In the workplace, in the grocery store, even at home, you will constantly find people you don’t agree with, but you cannot always dismiss them but must work with
As a quiet, shy and reserved person the work field with my current experience have shown me that the very principles of being a future supervisor may have a small challenge due to my personal comfort zone limits. Even though I still strive for future success and possibly a supervisor position at some point in my current career I will have to overcome this fear and face the challenges and duties that come with this position. At some point in time I plan to accept this challenge and gain skills as well as experience from my previous employers to have the principles of supervision to be used at the correct moment. I hope my current education and learning experience at these places will give me the skills and value to be the supervisor or manager
Operation mangers should also have the same skills as functional manager but they are responsible in managing day to day operations and they should also possess the authority to hire and fire employees.
Student teaching has taught me to appreciate the wisdom of mentors and experienced teachers. There were several times when my field based supervisors pointed my in the right direction when faced with challenges. I recall a student that I suspected to have copied his homework from other students. I stressed that we figure out how he did it but I could not some up with any definite facts to prove he had did so. Ms. Darling insisted that I not worry about it and if he did cheat then it would be revealed on his exam. Surely enough, the student failed his exam miserably. During a teacher/parent conference, I asked him how he managed to receive an A on all of his homework and fail his exam so poorly. To my astonishment the student confessed to having copied his homework from other students. His mother immediately addressed both issues with her child and needless to say I did not have the problems form the student anymore. During my computer Information technology Course, discipline problems plagued me during the first two weeks of student teaching. Mr. Washington, another field based supervisor told me to began calling parents immediately after class. He told me to call everyday if I had to. Surely after a few phone calls to parents, behaviors adjusted quickly. By the end of my student teaching time period, in my opinion I had a model classroom as far as classroom behavior goes.
In this essay we will be introduced to a leader who holds a high place of authority in the military and gain some personal insight on leadership and management. Then will look at this writer’s own personality traits and what leadership model the personality traits best match. Then look at the tenets of motivation and how this writer’s personality suites these tenets. Also look at the relationship between effective communication and motivation. Then finally we will look at some thoughts of what it takes to be an effective employee, successful manager, and an exemplary citizen.
temper their need for public acclaim and financial reward with strong intrinsic motivations” (George, Sims, McLean, & Mayer, 2007).
The teachers of the school were very supportive, I loved them all. Being at school is very good in terms of dealing with different people. We were exposed very early to this world; where there are different attitudes and beliefs. I think having teachers with totally different minds has a role in our social intelligence development. I learned how to deal with people even if their beliefs, thoughts and styles do not meet mine.
On Tuesday, September first I met with my academic advisor, Dr. Ana Londono for the first time. We met in her office on the first floor of Young Hall. She informed me that it was only her third week as an advisor at Lindenwold University. I was a bit nervous after hearing that because my major is Pre-Nursing and I had a lot of questions to ask. One of my main reason of making an appointment with my advisor was to ask when I would be able to apply for nursing school. I took a lot of college credit classes in high school. So Dr. Londono and I went over my high school transcript and figured out what classes I had already taken. Lindenwood has a great connection with Goldfarb School of Nursing. On the Lindenwold website they provide a list of required
...rks. In a word, the MA experience was considered to be a bridge that combines the student learning with working skills, it would be of great help for my future career.
During this crisis, millions of people lost their savings, job, and homes due to 2008 financial meltdown. The film exposes the root causes of the financial meltdown. It explores the players and mechanisms in the financial system such as: politicians, bankers, deregulation, academics, accounting firms, and credit rating agencies. Inside Job divides the story of the financial crisis in into five parts. This reaction paper will state a synopsis of each section and my reaction.
All of the experiences I had up until this date have made into the person I am today. I am very good at appearing confident, and in some area of life I am. I have extreme compassion for those who cannot help themselves and those that struggle to fit in. By finishing my degree in Human Services I will be able to do just that, and in the meantime find peace and move on from own
Maybe it is because that parents often say “spare the rod spoil the child”, and Instructors often time get to use to how they are treating their child so they’ll likely to do the same to their students. Or some instructor may just simply lost their work ethic. I think all of the teachers should respect every student, and every single student should be treated equally.
Each relationship is different and each teacher has his or her own way with students. I have seen from a distance that for the most part students have great respect for teachers and therefore get respect in return. A couple of teachers expect respect, and since it is not earned, students do not always give it. I live by the thoughts that I have to earn the respect of the student body and model behaviors for them. The relationship I build with them is up to me, but in order for great things to happen, I need to foster individual relationships and show that I care.
