Actually, students need to sleep 6 to 8 hours a day in order to do their tasks properly. The absence of sleep decrease some students’ alertness, and the excessive daytime sleepiness impair the memory and the cognitive ability to think. For example, because the absence of sleep decreases the attention, many students can read the same information many times without understanding. In addition, without concentration a lot of AUD students tend to respond slowly. This can be stressful since their memories are greatly affected by how much sleep they get each and every night. In addition, lake of sleep can make some AUD students less aware of what is going on around them. In her article “How the Internet Has Changed Bullying”, Maria Konnikova explained how bullying has reached technology, and in the workplaces of many adults. The Internet has made it harder to escape from bullying, and easier for bullies to escape from confronting their victims. Furthermore, the author stresses that cyberbullying not only targets high schoolers, but it’s affecting the lives of college students as well (Konnikova 1). Cyberbullying takes place in the Internet world where is easier for a bully to gossip and humiliate multiple of victims in a faster pace. The studies have shown that cyberbullying is making a greater impact in the victims’ and the bullies’ lives more than the traditional bullying and many people are not aware of it; therefore the schools, witnesses, and employers should work together to fight against cyberbullying and provide help to the victims and bullies.
Imagine coming home from school, you are already upset from getting bullied and then your phone starts beeping. It repeatedly keeps alerting you and it fills up with hateful messages and threats. This is the life of a child who is bullied and harassed, this happens to them constantly until they eventually implode. Adults think of bullying as kids being kids and being a part of life; but, no child should go through the pain and torture of that. Bullying happens across the world, with no cure to it, it 's a plague that needs to stop. Children from the UK, France, and many other countries are subjected to this. In the United States, many cases have been dealt with which involves pre-teens and teens committed

Another reason that causes the negative relationship between sleep deprivation and academic performance is the impact of high-stress level that is caused by sleep deprivation. As mentioned earlier, sleep deprivation could decrease a student’s critical thinking and problem-solving skills. However, it can also make the students feel more stressful. According to the survey conducted in Ball State campus, there are 15 students that often do their homework before they go to bed. 10 students play video games, computer games, and mobile games before they go to sleep. 8 students use their electronic devices to do social activities. 5 students watch movies and television series and 2 students read books before they go to bed. Sleep is not generally something that students believe to be essential in regards to higher order memory and brain function, but as I learned it is crucial. Many studies show that a full nights rest is crucial for memory and learning, giving the brain the opportunity to consolidate the facts and information acquired throughout the day. On the other hand, if a person’s sleep is disturbed for long periods of time, there can be significant effects on brain functioning, causing lack of focus and judgment, lessened reaction time, and memory impairment. As shown in my story above, sleep plays an imperative role in memory.
Sleep is vital in order for them to be healthier and do better academically. The world needs to take time to find ways to control sleep deprivation that is continuing affect others today. There is so many negative aspects of the scarcity of sleep that can have an impact on one’s life. However; there are still many different ways it can be avoided. Research shows that sleep is a necessity in order for someone to be able to perform at their maximum potential. College students are no exception to the rule and are often at a greater risk to suffer from conditions that accompany sleep deprivation. Regardless of the time period, a college student must be well rested in order to perform at his or her best in terms of physical performance, memorization capabilities, and test-taking abilities. Also, without adequate sleep, the person will be more susceptible to illnesses, both mental and physical. In conclusion, I believe that sleep deprivation among college students is extremely common and has a direct effect on how well that student will perform or feel.
According to the National Sleep Foundation, 33% of high school students fall asleep during school. Most people claim that the students being tired is due to them simply staying up too late, but that is not always the case. The way that the school start times are set up, now it is nearly impossible to get the amount of sleep that students need to function. With the biological sleep clock of students having them fall asleep at 11:00pm and then having to be up at 6:00 in the morning to get ready, the ten-hour goal is unachievable. When students are sleep deprived their focus and attention drift more easily making it significantly harder to pay attention in class. The lack of sleep also impacts students memory, the brain has to work harder to be able to retrieve previously learned information (Sleep, Learning, and Memory). Students who have gotten a good night rest are proven to pay more attention in
College students have to balance work, family, and college activists and any delaying behavior from within can cause an unbalance. This behavior is called procrastinating and it can lead to problems in many areas of a student’s life. College students are the worst hit by this type of behavior because they have many different activities to focus on instead of studying. These activities can cause students to study when they have time which often is usually too short amount of time. There is a time and place to relax and enjoy life, but if students focus on playing around instead of getting their assignments done, college life will be stressful.
When students do not get the appropriate amount of sleep they become more exposed to the consequences of sleep deprivation. One of the effects of sleep deprivation has to do with one’s brain. As students become more sleep deprived their brain begins to shrink. Cells begin to decreases therefore making one more disposed to the negative effects of brain damage. When the brain becomes damage students may experience seizures that could result in death. They might also even have the Alzheimer’s disease due to the degeneration of the brain. College students think that studying before exams help to remember more but this is not true since their ability to focus becomes more difficult. All-nighters have this effect where they think that everything is more difficult. This is true due to them not getting enough sleep they pay less attention to their surroundings. In the end students’ academic performance decreases overtime as they sleep less. Sleep deprivation also causes many health problems. Not getting enough sleep will make one eat more sugary foods. As a result of this they could have diabetes. Sleep deprivation plays an important role in college students since they tend to not get enough sleep due to irregular sleeping schedules. In the end students will get affected with negative outcomes of sleep deprivation since it is prevalent among college

Sleep deficiency impairs the neurocognitive functioning and prevents proper retention of information by the brain. Moreover, inadequate sleep at night diminishes attention span, alertness, creativity and concentration levels of the students. According to Curcio, Ferrara & De Gennaro (2006) students with more regular sleep-wake cycles are more likely to report a higher GPA (p. 326). Finally, I will explain how sleep-disordered breathing caused due to sleep deprivation, may also be associated with poor academic achievement and neurocognitive impairments such as critical thinking and
