Luck has nothing to do with success. In this essay I will give reasons about the reason that made me agree with the quotation. The first reason of agreeing with quotation is a personal experience I did two years ago. I was a senior student in Al Asmaa High School. That year I decided …show more content…
Noor’s dream was to be a fashion designer since she was 8 years old. At the age of 20 she started to design some sketches. Her parents saw it and thought that she was really talented so they decided to support her. They gave her amount of money to start with her first line. It wasn’t really easy at first because she had to choose the cloth, coolers and do designs. She worked five months to start her first line officially. I agree with Gladwell that hard work can lead to success. Too often we think success happens because someone has money or gets lucky. This is wrong. Success takes hard work, imagination, and motivation. “Success is not a random act. It arises out of a predictable and powerful set of circumstances and opportunities.” (Gladwell 52) If you assert yourself and use your mind and imagination, you can create those
My philosophy of success, is me growing into the person I want to become and being comfortable with the choices I decide to make in life. Success is not something I can achieve overnight, it’s something I must plan for then proceed to working hard for it as well. Without hard work, there isn’t anything successful about the job I want to get done or the job I wish to get done. Doing anything without hard work and dedication, and expecting the best outcome is not success; it’s mediocrity. Being mediocre/ will only allow me or anyone else to have a ‘Victim’s Mindset.’
´´ If one advances confident in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life he imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours. ’’ These words were spoken by Henry David Thoreau.Success is within the mind of the individual. A large portion of one´s life is spent working to become successful. People are told throughout childhood to work hard so they can grow up and achieve all of their dreams. But success takes many different forms. Different people have different interpretations of what success means to them. It does not matter how related they are to each other in certain áreas they always have a different point of view of what success really is. For some success is measured by social status and wealth
Success is not earning a fat juicy check at the end of each month, or being a part of a large social group filled with fraudulent people that appear as familiar faces. But it is a person discovering him or herself after they had been lost and establishing a sense of purpose that makes them fills them with a warm glowing sense of accomplishment. Success does not have one transparent definition, it has various meanings depending on what success means to the individual trying to achieve it. Success is surviving.
Catel and Bocquet’s Kiki de Montparnasse explores the transition of Alice Prinn, the title character, from an innocent-minded child to a renowned artist, "Kiki," who believes that there are more opportune and exotic places in the world she should discover, specifically America. As a youthful schoolgirl, Alice’s view of her country was undeveloped and incomplete, and was primarily influenced by her Grandmother and her grandmother’s generation’s perspective. For example, at the Bastille Day fair, Alice was filled with euphoria only because she was going to mingle with all of her friends, wear a beautiful dress, and dance endlessly. Meanwhile, the older generation solemnly expressed their nationalism with formal attire and a holiday celebration for their homeland, France. As Alice Prinn moves from her naïve country life to a more independent lifestyle in Paris, her views on nationalism change. Kiki demonstrates a rejection of nationalism, which was explored by Anderson in his theory of “imagined communities,” through her ambition to become famous.
In conclusion, the correlations that bring you amongst success was stated in the essay, such as your IQ. It determines how successful you will be and how far you will go in life. Next, the year of your birth, this is pretty much a given opportunity and what you will be successful in as the example was given in the third paragraph. Lastly, is the ten- thousand hour rule meaning as “deliberate practice” makes you successful and make you good at what you become as long as you put in those ten thousands
Hard work helps toward leading a happy and successful life. If you want to be successful, set goals and do your best to work hard and reach them. In the article, How 9 Incredibly Successful People Define Success, Drake Baer quotes nine different people with different definitions of success. One person Baer quotes is John Wooden who talks about doing your best, “Success is peace of mind, which is a direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you did your best to become the best you are capable of becoming.” His views on success in part, agree with my views on success. Doing your best will help you to reach for your goals. In the same article, Baer researches Winston Churchill, a British politician, “Success is going from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm.” Both Churchill and I hold the opinion that even if you fail, you should get up and keep going. To not think of it as a failure, but think of it as a lesson on what not to do next time. For example, If someone is making a cake, and it burns, they know that next time they should not bake it for so
By capitalizing on your strengths, you shift your focus on what makes you good at a certain skill and can use these to further yourself in success. Following this lesson, the third idea presented introduces the idea that “It’s not about you.” When you first think about this, it appears contradictory. If we focus on making our own plan and mastering our strengths to achieve success, shouldn’t success be for an individual? While the notion does appear odd, the idea becomes more clear once explained. Your purpose on the Earth is to make a difference and to better the people around you. We achieve success by improving the chance of opportunity to others. While it first appears as though success is individual, it actually dives deeper. The fourth lesson presented “persistence trumps talent” is essential for college students. We might not be as good at our passions as another individual in our field who is born with the talent. However, through persistence, we achieve success because we focus more on what we want to do to make ourselves successful. The fifth idea is
The perspective that success is something you work for is created by a pearson’s experiences going to college , earning things instead of things just be given to you last but not least going through challenges. Upon a time in my household we were going through a hard time . I wasn't on the same page as my parents, but through it all we pushed through and i understood everything and i found success in that because it made us come closer and our relationship can build stronger now.
There is no guaranteed way to be successful, but hard work will at least show improvement towards success because if you work hard, your abilities and skills grow, giving you the opportunity to display them and use them to be successful. First, Bill Joy's story expressed his hard work through his long road of programming throughout the days, nights, and summers. Bill Gates would go through full days of school, then go to C-Cubed and spend his evenings programming. These figures did not have to work as hard as they did, but they did and it worked out great for them. Some may debate that these two figures got lucky, and were blessed with opportunities the average person doesn’t have, — or that many people work hard but don't see results.
Success is within the mind of the individual. A large portion of ones life is spent working to become successful. People are told throughout childhood to work hard so they can grow up and make lots of money. But success takes many different forms. Different people have different interpretations of what success means to them. For some, success is measured by social status and wealth; for others success is determined only by the amount of happiness one feels.
Success only truly comes with being happy. Happiness and success are the accomplices of one another. Someone cannot have accompanies without the other. Happiness brings success, and success brings even more happiness. Success, in the dictionary, is defined as the achievement of something desired planned or attempted. Therefore, success cannot be judged by anyone than oneself. It is a personal thing. It is the realization of goals, desires or plans made by one 's self. It is not measurable and yet is something we always use to compare others or appraise someone 's worth. Success, in one form or another, is something that someone should always be striving for. For some people it is something they will do subconsciously, and for others it will be something they will constantly labor for. Because success is something that is different for everyone, it is best that they measure their personal success by their sense of self worth instead of others. To have succeeded is to have lived, as someone wanted; ' it is to have lived well and laughed
In the May 2016 edition of The Atlantic, a meticulous article written by Robert H. Frank, was aiming to promote that there is such thing as luck. The Article, titled Why Luck Matters More Than You Might Think, explores deep into the ups and downs of luck while offering input from many different surveys. Robert makes 5 key points throughout the piece: 1. Not everything is going to go according to plan when luck is in the mix of things. 2.
“Success comes in a lot of ways, but it doesn't come with money and it doesn't come with fame. It comes from having a meaning in your life, doing what you love and being passionate
Thomas Jefferson once said "I'm a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work, the more I have of it." What, though, is luck? Webster's dictionary suggests that luck is the "events or circumstances that operate for or against an individual."
