I’m walking home from school debating on whether I should eat a sandwich or eat last night’s left-overs, or both, when suddenly an old lady comes up to me, hands me a ticket and says “do what you wish with this ticket” before I could even begin to ask any questions just as fast as she appeared she disappears and is nowhere near sight. I look at this ticket feeling a handful of emotions beginning with confusion and anxiousness. The ticket reads “A glimpse into your future.” I then turn the ticket around and it reads “Directions: 1. Walk into an empty closet 2. Hold the ticket in both hands and close your eyes 3. Good luck.”. There are a million thoughts going through my head one being “is this real” and another being “am I being punked”. I then …show more content…
Once I get home I am relieved to see that there are no cars parked outside the house meaning none of my sisters are home, so that means there is no possibility of them walking in on me sitting inside my closet looking like a complete lunatic then having to explain to them what happened and going through the humiliation of them making fun of me for actually believing that this ticket will give me “a glimpse into my future”. Anyway, I then quickly unlock my front door, throw my backpack on the ground, and run into my room. I throw out the clothes that’s laying on the closet floor to give myself room to sit and do what the ticket says.
Next thing I know I’m waking up from my sleep with an unbearable headache asking myself several questions, such as “where am I, how did I get here, and why do I have a headache”. Confused I look around this room I’m in and notice there are several pictures of myself with friends hanging on the wall.
Dally you should not even think about killing yourself it will not solve anything and will only make thing worse for everybody who cares about you. I know that you will not believe this and think that the world is horrible and is not worth living in but I promise you that there is still good in the world. I know that you will say that there is not and that I am naive, but I was not the only one to see this even Johnny saw it as he was dieing. He wanted me to try to point this out to you but I knew that you would need more than just me and Johnny's persuasion so I got word from all of the gang and some idea of how to make things better.
On the bus ride home, I noticed that my sister wasn’t there which then triggered sceneries of what could've happened to her, all with unpleasant endings. On the bus, I saw my brother and felt relief that it wasn't him. My sister was still nowhere to be found so I asked him if he knew where she was but he also didn't know.
According to The Chicago Tribune “Close to 3,000 people have been shot in Chicago so far this year.”In 2016 chicago homicide rate was at an all time high, last year there have been reported 762 people died from gun violence,”3,550 shooting incidents, and 4,331 shooting victims.”Hundreds of people have died from gun violence every year and also a portion of the murder rate is made up of innocent people that have also died from a firearm violence. Also in the united states the number of fatalities from a firearm were “33,594” according to the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention.I believe we should ban the use of firearms because the number of people that die or get injured from a firearm keeps dangerously increasing each year.
The rail road is not a safe place to be tresspassing on. Trains weigh thousands of pounds and can kill you easily. You should stay at least 5 feet away from a train because they usally go 3 feet out from the track. If you get stuck or if your car breaks down on the track call 911 so that oncoming trains know. You should always look and pay attention to where you are going. Don't listen to music, put down you're hood, and also don't look at your phone. Look both ways because trains can arrive or leave at any time. When the rail guard is down no traffic is allowed to go until the train has left and the guards go up. "Racing a train to the crossing is foolish. You will never have another chance if you lose." stated from " Unit 5 lesson 7" the
Ever since the fall, mankind has had a voracious desire for power and influence. People witness this desire within the walls of the Capitol Building when the media exposes backroom deals. It also springs up whenever a politician uses a podium to persuade people that he makes the world work. Politicians possibly rely on persuasion because they crave the power. However, persuasion is a manipulative, unBiblical tactic of forcing others to accept a point of view by all means necessary.
After only a few months in the club, I received a letter in the mail from Washington D.C. It was an official invitation to the Law and CSI National Youth Leadership Forum. Beyond being ecstatic for even receiving the invitation, I was even more excited to learn that I was the only student from Central Dauphin High School nominated by the advisor It was thrilling to know that I was able to accomplish so much in such little time. Not only was I nominated, I was hand selected from thousands of students throughout the entire United States. I was shocked and couldn’t believe I was going to make Washington D.C. my home for an entire week. I quickly started digging out all of my business attire and began packing for the trip that would change my entire perception on life. After a few long months of fund-raising money and long awaited nerves, I was finally on my way to the capital of the United States. I did not know what to expect from the conference and was fighting off nervous butterflies when my mom dropped me off at very large and beautiful hotel right outside of Washington D.C. Within the first five minutes of being there I was handed an extremely strict itinerary, an I.D. badge, and a room assignment. The second I walked into room 232, two other girls were already in there waiting for me. I came to know these girls as my roommates. After meeting with my roommates,
BOOM! CRASH! Well, that is the sound of some crazy people who are trying to get out of their crowded cars as fast as possible and are going too fast and crashing on the interstate. When that happens I bet you think about driving along a long two lane road where people are not trying to get from one point to another as fast as possible. Well, if you do let us go and travel down the road that was America's only main highway that was used for more than 80 years called Route 66. Route 66 was and still is the road to travel on if you wanted to see extraordinary stuff.
The idea of facing reality may be frightening, but everybody has to face a part of their reality sooner or later. Most people would rather run away from their problems because it is easier, rather than facing them with the possibility of getting hurt. Either way, you are going to get hurt eventually and you cannot hide from your problems forever. Escaping reality can lead to self destruction, whereas facing reality could lead into happiness in your life and will have peace within yourself.
The United States has become the most overweight country in the world over the last fifty years. In fact, sixty- nine percent of adults over twenty are either obese or overweight. (CDC) The fast food industry and the production of highly processed food have fueled this epidemic. There are millions of dollars made in the production of processed foods that keep for years because of harmful additives that are put on the food. Companies have exploited Americans addiction to fast, easy, and cheap by providing these less nutritious foods for nearly half the price of fresh produce. What can be done to promote better health for the American population? I think that we must promote healthy eating habits and provide information on the dangers
I will not be here today, you can checkout with Terry. I will be at East next week (and actually until June 28) if you would like to checkout then.
April 25, 2015 a 7.8 magnitude earthquake strikes Kathmandu. The quake causes a large avalanche that destroys the southernmost part of the Everest base camp. That didn’t seem to stop many members of expeditions. You can’t understand how complicated this really is until you understand mountain. So, let’s start off with a brief history of Mount Everest.
We must all face the dreaded fact that the price of gas is going to go up during the summer months. I have found ways to help to lower my fuel bill to help me save money for those trips that I am bound to take during the summer. These tips work for more than just the summer months but it just makes more since to do some of them during the summer when it is hotter outside. I live in Oklahoma, which is one of the lower paying states. In Oklahoma the gas here peaked to almost three dollars and all I could think about was that this was just another reason for me to do more about saving for my trips.
As you enter your car, you notice that it's 10:50. You know it’s going to take five minutes to school, another five minutes to find parking and hope that you will be on time for your 11:10 class. As you make the turn to enter lot 30, you see cars in every single parking space. You enter every aisle trying to find parking. You wait for fellow students to leave the lot so you can find a space for yourself.
I guess my promises are worthless, since something did happen. I was just a kid who was having fun, believing at sixteen I could handle going over the speed limit. My life was so perfect, but now I’m living in a sinkhole formed out of my misery and regrets. I’ve been crying myself to sleep every night since the incident, thinking about my sister.
