The idea of facing reality may be frightening, but everybody has to face a part of their reality sooner or later. Most people would rather run away from their problems because it is easier, rather than facing them with the possibility of getting hurt. Either way, you are going to get hurt eventually and you cannot hide from your problems forever. Escaping reality can lead to self destruction, whereas facing reality could lead into happiness in your life and will have peace within yourself.
In the novel, A Monster Calls, a young boy goes through a tragic loss of his mother and learns to face his reality of not having his mother in his life anymore. The young boys faced multiple adventures throughout his dreams with a yew tree in his backyard.

Escapism is way to ignore your problems in your life by distracting your mind, causing you to forget your reality. This particular issue is pervasive in our society today and will only continue to get worse. Escapism will destruct your self because you are forcing yourself to separate from your own mind. You will eventually become two parts and not a whole, leading you into self-destruction. Escapism makes us senseless to all of our problems because we do not want to hear the real truth. Humans often block out problems they do not like and accept the ones the ones they like. Blocking out your problems will only lead into more problems such as depression, losing relationships and making you stagnate. By ignoring your problems, it will build more stress causing you to be depressed.Escapism will distance you from your close friends or family and will leave lonely in this big world. Once you become lonely, it is going to feel like you are trapped and there is no way out,but in the end, you caused all this mess. It can be unhealthy and cause emotional stress. Facing reality is a better pathway because it will help you grow as a person and will allow you to connect with the world you are living
We, as human beings, tend to think that the truth is what we believe to be true. But the truth is the truth even if no one believes that it is the truth. We also think that the truth brings unpleasantness, and that we hate telling the truth. “The challenge of the sage is to decode the clues and solve the underlying riddle of existence, our own and that of the cosmos.” (The Sage). The relation between this quotation and my life is that, I always want to search for the truth, and telling the truth is another
He describes how the sand on the beach flows and moves on the shore. For example, in the first line of stanza two, he says, “Slush and sand of the beach until daylight.” This description of the sand really helps you visualize it.
It’s fall everyone and Halloween is coming.I would like to tell you that fall is the best season of all.
Hard truth is uncomfortable to deal with; some cope with it with the approach of denial and anger.
My dad and I go hunting every weekend during deer season which is from mid of Novmber to the first of Janurary. We go sit at 6:00am and we leave at 8:00am,but why we sit we will be wacthing birds and squirrals playing in the place we have corn they will eat it like deer does.We half to sit still were the deer can’t see us in the deer stand. When we go hunting you have to climb up in the deer stand and then sit patiertly to wait for something to come out of the woods. We look three or four different way in the stand.”My dad stated,” theres a deer.We go hunting in Pearson Georgia. When we go hunting we have to be careful because the gun could go off.It could be dangous going hunting by yourself. But if anything happen I can help him.Because we
Throughout our lives, we carry and value our own beliefs. As we face different challenges, we may be persuaded into making certain choices. However, no matter how convincing a person may be, in the end we always have the last word. Nobody likes being told what to do but we do like to hear other opinions for a different perspective. The proper way of using rhetoric is through a confident tone that is knowledgeable of their topic. The speaker should have integrity and be selfless in the sense that they are understanding towards their audience.
...ce a harsher reality in order to learn more knowledge of my reality than to have a disadvantage of not knowing what is truly real.
The album starts off with the song, Break On Through (To the Other Side). Jim Morrison tells us to “Break on Through” and get out of our daily humdrum lives and into a new state of mind. The “other side” being the fantastic reality that lies beyond our existing reality, just waiting to be explored. Jim Morrison had a macabre fascination with this altered-reality, and he frequently tested its’ (and his own) limits with mind-expanding hallucinagenic drugs. This song is said by some to be the theme of his life and the reason for his excess in almost everything that he did (Curtis, p. 178). When he says, “I’ve found an island in your arms, a country in your eyes, arms that chain, eyes that lie...” Jim tells us that although we accept reality as comforting (the arms and the eyes) it really tricks us and keeps us away from the “other side”, and we need to “break out” and explore these boundaries. Although most people are not willing to use hallucinagenic drugs, or live like Jim Morrison did to explore the boundaries of reality, the music itself takes the listener on...
The song "Waves" by Bahamas, written by Afie Jurvanen (the lead singer), conveys a message about Jurvanen and his past lovers. Jurvanen uses metaphors to describe his relationships. Suggesting that each women he has been with is a single rolling wave in the oceans of his love life "And I saw myself as one of many waves" (2). Jurvanen continues to illustrate his relationships when he expresses "And when I knew I'd become the oceans slave / I just stayed" (3,4). This being another metaphor to express that, even when Jurvanen knew he was in trouble, he didn't have the courage or whatever it may have been for him to leave the relationship. Thus dreading the relationship and treating it like a job.
Throughout the song the tone changes from a disappointed and unsatisfied feeling until it progresses into a hopeful and maturing tone. This transformation of tone follows the story almost perfectly and allows the reader to feel a connection to the transformation of the protagonist. This transformation from “expecting the world” (line 1) to realising that some things must happen for others to come into motion “the sun must set to rise” (line 24) is especially impactful and emotional when paired with the lines “ This could be para-para-paradise, para-para-paradise” that are repeated to show her newly established happiness and maturity. Ultimately, this progression from disappointed
Truth is a very powerful thing that can change anything and also keep the people content with themselves. Truth is what every person wants whenever they are in a difficult situation and the truth is the only thing that can help them solve their problems. However, sometimes the truth can be manipulated to change how the situation is viewed by others. In situation such as this, the real truth is being hidden which may cause problems to whom the truth is needed. Some may be blind to the truth while some may be blinded by the truth, or both of the outcomes may occur. The ones who hear the truth after being lie to have varieties of strong emotions which could lead them to take dire actions. The power of truth can give life and also take life away.
When you look up denial in the dictionary you get the definition “failure to acknowledge an unacceptable truth or emotion or to admit it into consciousness, used as a defense mechanism.” When we deny the things that occur around us we do it out of fear of what is. If a child's parents are splitting up the child may try to make themselves believe that everything is fine and they have nothing to worry about. I, myself have found myself deep into denial. In my situation I lost someone very dear to me and I did not know how to deal with the lost. I kept telling myself that it was nothing more than a joke. That I was dreaming and when I wake up it will all be back to normal. I didn't want to deal with the fact that the events that have taken place are real. Whether or not I want it to be. By be unwilling to accept the fact that bad things happens I only stop myself from getting better. This is the issue
The argument that escape hinders a person has been brought up. This is a valid point and in some cases, such as “Paul’s Case”, this is accurate. When a person become so immersed in their fantasy, that they struggle in everyday life, it can cause issues. In work, home and school, if a person can’t see the good anymore in their life, they may begin to self destruct when they are no longer in their escape.
The song begins by describing a scene in which a man, the author, is traveling down a road in the desert. The “dark desert highway” that is mention in the first verse is used as a metaphor to represent the lead singers life, a journey. The entire song can be thought of as the thoughts of Don Henley, the lead singer for the Eagles, as he enters this “hotel”, which represents the luxurious life of fame, money, sex, and drugs while living the high life in the state of California. Still during the first verse, the smell of desert flowers and plants surround him as he is driving. He then begins to feel tired and
Escapism is often looked upon negatively in our society. Many people understand it as the inability to cope with or face the realities in our world. But escapism finds many different forms, from extreme sloth to the ultimate in healthy living to the devastation of heroin addiction. In its simplicity escapism is nothing more than offering an escape from our own consciousness by heightening the sense of self, giving to us a feeling of aliveness.
